A wonderful idea, and I'd be 100% on board if it was being done by someone that had some affiliation with the studio. Unfortunately, I just think this will end up being like most fan-made books.

Also, why isn't this being done in kickstarter?

Update: It's now split into two volumes, and they're now raising money on both Kickstarter and Indiegogo at the same time. Which is weird, but I wish them luck.

The book is being written by an art/film historian just starting out who lives in Belgium. He's not affiliated with the studio, however he is affiliated with past and current Disney employees. I know him personally and while I'm not always the biggest fan of how he's pushed this project along, I find his heart to be in the right place. He's no different than any other Disney/animation historian starting out and has easily put out as much work. Let's remember that guys like Leonard Maltin didn't start out as Disney employees right off the bat. And if he really is able to pull off Disney officially licensing the images that he wants to use, that right right there will be as close to a studio blessing for a project like this that you'll ever find. I say that from experience. Disney doesn't care about putting out books like this officially, at least not current Disney.

Did I mention he's actually visited the Disney Studios while working on this? The studio didn't officially invite him, rather it was employees that he was interviewing that invited him, but I still need to point that out.
