Frozen: Part V
Re: Frozen: Part V
I think of all of the Disney heroines, Anna seems to be the one most based on her voice actress. If you've ever seen Kristen Bell in interviews, she's not so different from Anna (minus the ice-powered sister...I assume). I wouldn't be surprised if the "elated or gassy" line was something the Lopezes thought of from conversations with Bell. I don't really see a problem with the lyric, to be honest. In addition to showcasing the general clumsiness involved with the Anna character, it's not like women don't get gassy. Plus, from what I recall, she was singing that to herself, not announcing it to all of the kingdom and servants.
I think we're still a far way away from seeing a Disney heroine sitting on a toilet.

Re: Frozen: Part V
For The First Time in Forever could have been a little bit more serious, yes, but they wanted to show how awkward and clumsy Anna could be. At least they didn't leave the line "I hope that I don't vomit on his face".
Re: Frozen: Part V
I love "For The First Time in Forever", but I don't like the gassy line because it comes off juvenile. It's the same problem with the tinkle in the woods line said by the baby troll in "Fixer Upper". In character or not, toilet humor is still toilet humor, which is pretty immature in my eyes.
I will say though that Kristen Bell did an excellent job of voicing Anna. Even before the movie came out, I had my doubts about her because she is the one recognizable movie celebrity voice of the cast. She proved me wrong and actually made her character come alive. Honestly after repeat viewings and more thought, I like Anna more and more as a protagonist character. I know many of us prefer Elsa (myself included) and wish she had more screen time, but I still think Anna is an engaging character with a likeable personality that I care about.

When I first heard Anna sing "elated or gassy" I was surprised, but then I remembered this quote from Wreck-It Ralph:estefan wrote:I think of all of the Disney heroines, Anna seems to be the one most based on her voice actress. Has anybody here played Final Fantasy VIII where the evil witch ( Edea ) summons a giant icicle and slams it into the main character's chest ?
That would of been nice. c:

Ooh, I did! But Elsa impaling someone with an icicle is a bit much, even though she almost did.thelittleursula wrote:Atlantica wrote:…..which would again lead me to say again he should have been frozen by Elsa …. a fitting comeuppance for a vile human being.

Wouldn't they all see her as a monster again if she did that to him?

Oscar Song Shocker: Academy Eliminates Nominee, Bringing Frozen and ‘Let It Go’ One Step Closer to Win
http://www.broadway.com/buzz/174328/osc ... er-to-win/Good news, Frozen fans! “Let It Go,” your soaring ice castle anthem, has one less song to beat to take home the Best Original Song Oscar on March 2. The board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has disqualified the title song from the little-seen film Alone Yet Not Alone by Bruce Broughton.
Broughton, a former member of the board, lost his nomination when it was discovered that he had campaigned for the nod, emailing members of the academy during the voting period.
With no replacement nominee named, married “Let It Go” songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez now have three competitors: “Happy” by Pharrell Williams from Despicable Me 2, “The Moon Song” by Karen O and Spike Jonze from Her and “Ordinary Love” by Paul Hewson, Dave Evans, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
Can you taste your EGOT yet, Bobby Lopez?!
Re: Frozen: Part V
Mmmm no, I don't think so. He had just tried to assist in the death of Anna, kill Elsa, and take over the entire kingdom, just because he has an inferiority complex. He wouldn't be 'dead' so to speak, but his frozen heart would be reflective on the outside of his body instead.Old Fish Tale wrote:Wouldn't they all see her as a monster again if she did that to him?
Also, Frozen is now the 'Film Event Of A Generation' …

Hey tomakpo,
Yeah, I get that "embrace who you are" thing Disney is always talking about. But the truth is, who we are evolves throughout our lives. And I believe that we should all try to better ourselves no matter what the age (and lets face it: who we are at 9 will change a lot by the time we are adults). Striving for good posture and good vocabulary is something we should all do, at any age.
And neither of these things will change who we are at our core.
That being said, I think Kristin Bell did a great job with Anna. My issues with the character are to be blamed on the story people and possibly the song writers.

Re: Frozen: Part V
To be honest, I had/have very little knowledge of Kristen Bell. I knows she's starred in some well-known things, that I just happen never to have watched. I do think she did amazingly well with Anna. I almost think it was a good thing to make Anna the central character. If Elsa was central, her family members likely would've been seen as pretty horrible by the audience. Since Elsa is automatically likable, Anna benefits the most by being the lead.frankf3 wrote: I will say though that Kristen Bell did an excellent job of voicing Anna. If You Pre-Order Frozen on Target's Website you can order another combo pack and save $8. I plan on doing this and getting Target's Exclusive Jungle Book Blu Ray. Also I'm sure it's been noted, but Target's having an exclusive Disc on their Frozen Blu Ray. Basically You'll get both of them for $50

Is anyone planning to go to the sing-along version in theaters? The sing-along version of “Frozen” was leading advance weekend sales at Fandango, the online ticket broker said Wednesday, ahead of the current No. 1 film “Ride Along” and the weekend’s two wide openers, “That Awkward Moment” and “Labor Day.”
Super Bowl weekend can be a strange one at the multiplexes, with much of America distracted by the big game. And while advance sales don’t always translate into box office, it looks like “Frozen” is going to make some more noise. ..
Re: Frozen: Part V
I'm not personally. I like the idea of having a sing-along screening, but I've already seen the movie twice now. Plus, it will probably be annoying after awhile hearing little kids try to sing the words on the screen. I'm saving my money for The Lego Movie next week

However I think Frozen's Numbers domestically will go down with The Lego Movie which on a side note looks amazing.

I'm surprised, but the trailers make me want to see The Lego Movie, too. It definitely has more of a chance of drawing audiences away from Frozen than The Nut Job did (which looked irredeemably awful).disneyboy20022 wrote:

A common misconception. Elsa didn't run away cause people were calling her a monster. She ran away because she was afraid of hurting her people.Old Fish Tale wrote:Wouldn't they all see her as a monster again if she did that to him?
Another BIG thing that I loved about this movie.

I say the Lego Movie will defiantly be a treat to watch. It might not be academy award making material but on the other hand it shows a lot of promise of being creative and standing for everything Legos was meant to be.

I did not expect to like this version so much. whoever does Anna's voice has an amazing voice.
And ok, the animation in this movie was no Brave. It didn't look as detailed and as realistic as Brave. But you know what stood out to me? The animation on the clothes. Specifically Anna's coronation dress. It's amazing how detailed it is, even with the folds! One of the things that I noticed in this video is that the embroidery on her bottom part actually shines when light hits it. That constant strive for detail is why I love animation.

Re: Frozen: Part V
Are any other countries getting a sing along version, or is it just the US ?
I think Anna is a great character and well voiced, but I don't view her as being any more relatable to any of the other princesses, which is what Anna has been pitched as. She is still extremely pretty, very slim and has a wonderful singing voice. I don't think having all three attributes make her relatable in the scale of what Disney / Bell has proclaimed her to be. Elsa, to some extent, whilst beautiful and having an amazing voice is much more relatable due to feeling outcast by … well, life. She is alone constantly and lonely, has no one to share any of what she's going through and feels she isn't an asset to anyone around her. Who hasn't felt like that at some point ?
And coming from that, I think its the biggest disappointment of the film that Elsa doesn't have the screen time that she deserves; instead it is given over to the bubbly / cute sibling, who is pretty much cut from the exact same cloth as her predecessors. And I'm not trashing Anna at all, I love her character and the Princesses (as you all know), but it does slightly offend me that Bell and Disney have been so vocal about Anna being a 'regular' Princess, and more relatable than the others. You don't have to diss your own previous work to make the current one better.
If anything, as I've stated previously, Rapunzel is one of the more 'regular' Princess; she has an overbite, slight duck feet, she can sing but not on an Ariel / Belle / Aurora etc scale, and bullied on a daily basis by her mother. Yes she is teeny tiny like Anna but she isn't designed to be as aesthetically pleasing as the other princesses; Glen Keene even said that Rapunzel feels overshadowed by her hair, and is told by Gothel that that is the most beautiful part of her. Once it gets cut, she looks like a genuine regular girl.
Anyway, that's just my two cents on the relatable debate.
