Disney designs you don't care for

Changing the topic a bit. Who are some characters who have a design you don't like? It could be you think they look bland or you just don't find their design appealing for whatever reason. You can also mention a characters outfit that you don't particularly care for.

It's true that Merida is HIDEOUSLY ugly. The attempts to make her fit in to the Disney Princess Line are downright embarrassing. Kill her off!

She's not the ugliest, but I also absolutely loathe Vanellope von Schweetz's design. She looks like a Chipette

In the "not-ugly, but boring design" department...

-The earlier princes.

-Eilonwy. Her design is so bland, she's basically a watered down Alice.

-Jane's yellow dress. The character just looks weird in so many shots.

With or without transformations/disguises? Jafar looks attractive but when he's disguised as an old man, he is so disgusting it's nicer to look at the Queen's hag form.

Merida definitely. I think the animators drew her that way on purpose, but she's easily one of the least attractive leads. She has huge eyes and a pig nose.

Henwin the pig from The Black Cauldron has a prettier face than her. *ducks in case of a hail of rotten apples is unleashed*

This was one of the things that really bothered me about that movie, as petty as it sounds. I've seen a lot of the earlier character designs where Eilonwy looked much more loose, like she had spent some time in the dungeon and had a few non-lady-like habits, all possibly based from the book. But they didn't just refine her, they completely SANITIZED her until there was nothing left.

I would say that I am not big on many of the character designs from the Xerox films. I'll never understand why some of the Nine Old Men had such high opinions of their latter films; everything appeared so scratchy, squared-off, and had very little of the appeal that they created in Disney's earlier films.

In the "not-ugly, but boring design" department...

-Anna/Rapunzel/Ariel. This "attack of the clones" is very evident and obvious. Not only are they similar in personality, but the designs bear such a resemblance.

-Most of the Princes. Aladdin started the trend of the Princes having a personality and being attractive. Before them all of them were very dull in design.

-Eilonwy. I love her, but her design is so bland, she's basically a watered down Alice...Funny though since I find Eilonwy prettier than Alice in most screenshots.

-Jane's yellow dress. It's so uptight, it basically oppresses her existence! I know it's historically accurate and all, but it's so similar to Belle's dress in design it feel cheap.

I agree with you that Anna/Rapunzel/Eilonwy are bland and generic looking. I hesitate to call Ariel generic looking though, since she is kind of the 'first' to have that look, plus she has that bright red hair and red lips that makes her stand out a bit more. I do think their personalities are similar too. No, they don't look exactly the same or act exactly the same but I think they are similar enough that they could almost be interchangeable between their movies.

I don't see the similarity between Jane's yellow dress and Belle's yellow dress other than the fact that they're both yellow dresses.

I don't think Merida is meant to be beautiful, but the biggest thing that bugs me about her looks is her abnormally shaped Stewie head. It's part of the reason I don't find Elsa all that beautiful either. Squashed flat looking heads bug me.

I know opinions are opinions, but even the concept that Ariel's design is generic or boring in any way is ridiculous.

Anyway, for me, it's mostly Disney's male antagonists: Jafar, Ratcliffe, Gaston, Clayton, John Silver (although the cyborg aspect is interesting), Gantu, Alameda Slim, etc.. I believe Scar, Frollo, Shan-Yu, Dr. Facilier and Hades are my only exceptions. Jafar has moments where I like his design, such as the beginning with the Cave of Wonders and when he has the white Sultan suit on just before the climax (wish they'd had him wear that for longer), but there are many many others where it's just hideous (and not in a "he's supposed to be ugly" way, like, say, Ursula or the Hag). Rourke isn't quite as bad as the others, but not a stand-out either.

(Human) male characters in general, seem to be their biggest weakness when they're not going for broad comedy: Milo, the brothers from Brother Bear, Phoebus, John Smith, and even Tarzan (to an extent) are others who are just unexceptional.

I don't care for Mother Gothel's design at all, and I have no idea why Cher was on their minds so much for that character. (Maybe Gothel/Rapunzel's relationship is supposed to mirror Cher/Chaz's somehow...? ) The Queen (SW) is a mixed bag for me. The design itself doesn't bother me, since she looks good in certain scenes, but she looks bad in others--but I'm going to chalk that up to animation weirdness rather than a bad design.

The alien designs in Treasure Planet and Lilo & Stitch (barring Stitch and, maybe, Jumba?). The Grand Councilwoman's design, in particular, is atrocious.

There's a lot of bland but still pleasant designs in Disney movies but few stick out to me as ugly/porrly designed. Here's two.

Off the top of my head, the design of the cows and the horse in Home on the Range I found to be tremendously unappealing. The design of the original Prince in Snow White is so bland he's basically androgynous, but I'm willing to give that a break as it was the first film and they had so much trouble with him.

Hmmm...

- Olaf's design is awful and completely disparate from the rest of the cast, he simply looks like he came from a different film. When in movement, it doesn't even feels like he's made of snow (I blame the animators for that one).

- Ray's design is really unappealing, too, but it sort of has its own charm. Mama Odie's is kind of terrible too minus the charm.

- Unlike most of you, I don't find Merida ugly. I think it's a matter of translating 2D design to a 3D model, as she look really good (to me at least) in 2D form.

It's the same case as with Olaf for me - she's just more cartoony compared to the more realistic designs of other Tarzan characters.

I've never really cared for the designs of Merida (her face looks like a cabbage patch doll to me) and Ariel, specifically her swooping bangs/front hair/whatever the hell you wanna call it....just too much for me.

On the other hand, I think the Evil Queen's design is spectacular, especially when she's coming down the castle stairs to her dungeon/laboratory.

First off, to anyone that thinks Ariel has a bad character design…well, that opinion should be thrown right back into the fiery chasm of lies from whence it came.

As for designs I don't care for, I have mixed feelings about the overall design of the movie, Hercules. I appreciate that they wanted to try something different, but I don't think Gerald Scarfe's style was a good mix for Disney. There are certainly some cool animation moments in the movie, but not enough to justify the collaboration, in my stuck up opinion.

Also, Chicken Little. The character designs in that movie look like something from a cheap animated TV series.

I should've worded it better, but what I dislike is NOT Ariel's design (it's actually pretty cool), it's the fact that Disney repeated twice that same type of style for two other heroines. It diminishes a bit Rapunzel and Anna when it comes to originality.
