Save DisneyScreencaps.com!
If you are a graphic maker, an artist, a website owner... or if you just like looking at screencaps, you have probably used DisneyScreencaps.com. Well, Disney has decided to make them remove all of their Disney caps. You can read the actual email they wrote to the admin on DisneyScreencaps.com. But with the admin's permission, I have started a petition to fight back against Disney on this matter, and I encourage you to sign it! Screencaps aren't hurting anybody. Disney is just being finicky. And we need to show them that.

I signed but I doubt it'll do any good. Their like robots, you cant reason with them.
Re: Save DisneyScreencaps.com!
I never seen that before. I checked it out and it doesn't look that important, to be honest.
Re: Save DisneyScreencaps.com!
Ironically, we use disneyscreencaps all the time at work for reference... AT Disney. It's a pain they took it down, but I'm not surprised - it was very well done. That's their issue with it - it's not the screen caps themselves, but the fact that since it's so well done, it would be easy to mistake it as an official site run by Disney. Unfortunate all around, as it was indeed an extremely helpful and important resource for anyone who does any kind of creative work with Disney characters, whether professionally or as a fan.

That's awful. I didn't know it'd been taken down until seeing this. What a shame.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Ha, I was just thinking how great of a resource it would be even for Disney themselves.SWillie! wrote:Ironically, we use disneyscreencaps all the time at work for reference... AT Disney. That's just sad though, if Disney wants to shut this down they should put up their own. Maybe they could even monetize it.
I'm still not sure why its even that big of a deal if it were mistaken as an official site to begin with. Its not representing them in a bad light, its just showing stills of their films as is. I'm surprised at the very least they dont have an employee exclusive site that does the same thing.

They do for the actual studios, but as a meager sketch artist at the parks we don't get much haha... But we need reference the same as anyone else, so we used that pretty often.

And when Disney themselves use it, they really shouldn't shut it down.

Re: Save DisneyScreencaps.com!
... what the fuq, Disney? The images there were mainly under fair use and were just... images. If this were a movie site, well then that's a different story, but for just images with nothing else? AND the employees from Disney themselves use this site and yet the company itself is shutting it down?! ... F*cking Anti-piracy laws...
Great, if that gets shut down, and if I need an image, I have to play the DVD/Blu-ray (unencrypted) via VLC and create my own stills manually. ... oh wait... But still, I had known this site for a bit for a few years though.

This is DisneyFTW1, a former Youtube account that was terminated by Disney themselves. My current Youtube Account is FilmFTW2 (FilmFTW1 was terminated). Youtube sucks when it comes to film uploads, and it sucks even more when major corporations are following your channels. But what can I do?

Disney is at it again: 'copyright violation' by a fan sit
Today, in wanted to make a start with making a "The Little Mermaid" banner and so I surfed to "Disneyscreencaps.com. To my great shock and horror I found the following message:
By the way there's a petition you can sign to bring back the Disney screencaps:https://www.change.org/petitions/the-fa ... encaps-com. I already signed, I hope you will do the same.
I think the Disney company is really going overboard with this obsessive looking for ' copyright violation' and forbidding others to display any screencaps from their movies on the internet. What exactly is so wrong with free advertising for Disney from a non-profit, non-commercial fan-site? I'm afraid Disney one day will find out about my Disney site and will force me to shut it down for 'copyright violation'.Disney has sent a Copyright Violation Notice
Unfortunately, the Walt Disney Corporation will no longer allow me to display screencaps of movies owned by Disney. I'm sorry about this, I truly am, but there isn't much I can do. Read on for full information!

I actually JUST noticed this last night! I was so upset... I was even more upset when I realized how many damn programs won't allow you to screencap blu ray discs. Signed.

Someone told me on tumblr a few days ago. I signed the petition but it probably won't change.
At least the other films (Don Bluth, Dreamworks, etc.) are still there.

I'm afraid it may come down to having to make screen captures myself if I want to create another Disney banner.

We had a thread about this a month or so back
Still, it is unfortunate.

Re: Save DisneyScreencaps.com!
Okay, this is an extremely lucky coincidence, but someone re-blogged some Frozen screen caps from this blog, and it turns out they have a ton of other movies. It's not the same as the main site, but I think it's very helpful for anyone who relies on good-quality shots.

Re: Save DisneyScreencaps.com!
The anti-Disney people will have a field day with this, as it will "prove" their point that it's an evil corporation.
That being said, I think the whole thing is messed up, and shame on Disney for doing this.
