Frozen: Part V

I caught that too, it's most noticeable in the scene where he gets his carrot nose. The inside of his head is empty so you should be able to see the carrot when he opens his mouth, and yet there's nothing.

And what's wrong with Disney making modern films, I ask? What is this obsession the fans have with only the fairytale/princess films?Prince Edward wrote:I can understand your point, but sadly Frozen will not do the same business as a Pixar movie anyway. (At least not the more successfull of them.) Walt Disney Animation Studios deserves to get all the success they can. Hopefully the success of Frozen will ensure that Disney animation will continue to make fairytales and movies about fantasy and legends, as opposed to only movies about computer games, dogs with super powers and movies inspired by Marvel source material.unprincess wrote:you know Im happy to see Frozen is successful but I was hoping it wouldnt be this successful cuz now were gonna end up getting a repeat of what happened with Lion King... Hope to see Frozen tomorrow...
I don't understand it. Sure, Bolt was underwhelming, but Wreck It Ralph was really good, and surely the Marvel film will be very good.

Nope, I don't Tumblr. But interesting development!Warm Regards wrote:Are you asking because you saw this post on tumblr?pinkrenata wrote:Has anyone else mentioned the Wicked similarities yet?
The Disney and musical fan in me really enjoyed the movie, especially after a second viewing and repeat soundtrack listenings. The Wicked element is very hard for me to get past, though, and I'm not a big fan in of Idina Menzel as Elsa. Her voice doesn't fit the character design. I also sort-kinda wanted Elsa to remain the Snow Queen. The ending was too neat and tidy.
My thinking is this: Disney decided, "Let's make an okay animated musical that we can really polish up to turn into a Broadway show." The feeling I get from Frozen is that it is almost like a first draft of a super awesome play. Add some more dimension, darken it up a bit, make the characters a little more complex, and I'll see it when it opens on stage.

Re: Frozen: Part V
I was listening to the soundtrack and had a thought. Since I don't have the movie in front of me to watch again, I thought I'd ask. Why exactly does Anna sing "Do you want to build a snow man?" after the memory of Elsa's powers has been erased from her mind? Arendelle doesn't look like it has winter/snow, but maybe I'm forgetting a scene during the song showing normal snow in the background?
Also, I forgot to comment before, but I love the cover for the Blu-ray.

When the troll wipes Anna's memory, he replaces them with memories of the same fun activities, but in natural states. So, Anna does remember building snowmen with Elsa, but doesn't remember any magic involved. I don't know if they ever show natural winter in Arendelle, but I don't think that means they don't get them.

They do show a natural winter. The first verse of "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman" Anna knocks on Elsa's door because it has just snowed and the look on her face seems to suggest she thinks maybe now Elsa will come out of her room.SWillie! wrote:When the troll wipes Anna's memory, he replaces them with memories of the same fun activities, but in natural states. Re: Frozen: Part V
*Sigh* I adore Frozen, I still think that it's going to be one of my favorite DACs, but watching that YouTube "Let It Go" clip (just in the small window), I just wish this was hand-drawn. The movie was super beautiful on the big screen, but will it look just as good on a small screen? I enjoyed the movie so much, so this is probably a minor thing- I was loving the whole movie, and wasn't too caught up in, 'um, this is CGI,' because I just loved it and it was beautiful...but does anyone else feel this way?

Re: Frozen: Part V
Okay, so I saw it today and....YES
I loved it, I went into it thinking it was gonna be good but not as good as it turned out to be, I could have done without the loud kids talking and laughing during it but I still enjoyed the movie from beginning to end.

Re: Frozen: Part V
So, a few days ago, I finally watched it and enjoyed it! I do think that the romance between Anna and Kristoff is a little underdeveloped but, in all fairness, that's really not what the focus of the story is. It's more Anna's relationship with Elsa. As for the twist, I didn't think it was that bad. Hans wasn't really the best of the villains but it was kind of an interesting twist that did prove the points of both Elsa and Kristoff that a marriage after a few hours relationship is not necessarily a good thing. I was watching it with a friend and she was pretty surprised. She actually thought that Anna was going to tell Hans that she loved Kristoff instead. You know, like how it's usually done. All in all, a very good Disney film and I look forward to owning it on Blu Ray. (It would be awesome if, indeed, there was an extended cut that comes with the theatrical.)
Re: Frozen: Part V
I’ve seen Frozen twice since it opened here in Spain and I really liked it, though not as much as Tangled. The first time I saw the film, it seemed too short to me, and I was disappointed with certain aspects of the film that I had imagined differently, but that usually happens to me the first time I see a Disney or Pixar film that I've been looking forward to for a long time. During my second viewing I could appreciate the movie more for what it really is.
Like in Tangled or Wreck-It Ralph, the story is well written and the characters were better than what I thought. My favorite ones were Anna, who has her own unique personality that differentiates her from previous Disney princesses, and Olaf. I think he's the best Disney sidekick in a long time. I wish he had more funny lines, but I guess he has the right screen time to not overshadow the main characters. And the songs are very good, though not to the level of “Beauty and the Beast”.
The best part of the movie for me was the climax (Anna's sacrifice) It was unexpected and original. I also like Hans as a villain. The prince being the bad guy is something new for a Disney film. Some people said that they made him the villain just to have a twist in the movie and that his character was underdeveloped. I think they made him the villain for two main reasons. Firstly, as a solution to the love triangle, because if he really loved Anna he would be heartbroken at the end when she chooses Kristoff. And also as an extreme example of one of the messages of the movie: that you have to know someone better before marrying him/her. In my opinion his motivations were enough to understand his actions.
I also loved “Get a Horse!” I found the idea of the short very original and I like that it has the kind of humor and logics of the early Mickey Mouse shorts. My only complaint is that the characters looked a bit strange in CGI. They seemed made of plastic.

Does anyone else like For the First Time in Forever. I found it to be a really Disney classic like song, and I actually like it better than Let it Go. I love the violins in the background. Especially towards the end of the reprise.

Re: Frozen: Part V
just saw it today & Im happy to say I liked it(I was worried Id be disappointed due to all the hype its getting.) I cant say its my favorite Disney animated film or even in my top 10 but its my favorite since Brother Bear, & I liked it even more then PATF & thats saying a lot b/c i prefer 2d.
what I liked:
the art, vistas, color, just beautiful, there was some Barbie movie-ness in a few scenes but not as much as in Tangled.
the emphasis on the Scandinavian culture, instead of just another generic fairytale setting
I thought I was gonna hate Anna & Olaf as they seemed to be the more cookie cutter "made for the Disney Channel audience" characters in the film's promos but I found myself liking them & not being annoyed by them.
there's modern style comedy but its no worse than in Mulan or Tarzan, they kept a nice balance & I like that the beginning segment focused on the drama exclusively.
Elsa, she's awesome & she got the movie's best song.
um, Hans was a really really good looking cgi human.
now what I didnt like:
Hans was a really good looking cgi human, but wow I thought he didnt work as a villian. Yes i knew about the twist before hand, but the problem is that he worked a little too well as a good guy...
His turn just seemed clumsy to me like I'mgoooooodNOPE!BAM!EVIL! I understand they didnt want to do Gaston 2.0 but something more was needed, an extra subtle scene maybe or more exploration of his backstory, where we see that something may not be exactly right with the guy. He came off like he had a split personality & the "evil" Hans took over.
The trolls, oh boy... I liked them in the opening, but then they get their song & the movie grinds to a stop...we really didnt need that song. I would have prefered another Elsa or Hans scene instead.
Once they defeated Hans I thought it all wrapped up a little too quickly & neatly. I would have liked a better more satisfying end for Hans too.

Re: Frozen: Part V
I've been reading some non-spoiler stuff and I'm soo excited to see it. The release in Brazil will only happen on the January, 3, so...
At least I got the news today that Disney will release a proper soundtrack in portuguese (Tangled soundtrack was a total bummer... all the score cut and neither all english or portuguese songs were incluided... with only 9 tracks we could call it an EP
). Since I'm pretty excited about the soundtrack too (judging by the pop version of Let It Go and the very small snippets of the movie version that I allowed myself to hear), it's will be a great Christmas gift to myself (no deluxe edition, though)

Re: Frozen: Part V
I saw it yesterday, and really enjoyed it! Was a wonderful film, and a joy to see in 3D, as Tangled was. Here is a little break down of my opinion:
Good -
* The visuals. Wow, just plain stunning. I don't mean just the snow and effects, but the ice palace and lands...just breath-taking. A lot of Mary Blair in there for sure.
* Having a 'serious' Disney opening. That's something I've really missed, having a truely epic beginning to a Disney film, a la Mermaid, Beauty, Hunchback. In Frozen, it was just plain beautiful.
* The plot. Having it focus on a sisterly relationship was an interesting take on the story, and it was a welcome and refreshing one.
* Let It Go. The whole scene speaks for itself.
Not so good -
* Songs. I didn't like how they were almost all shoved at the beginning of the film, and it felt like they were almost templates to be used in a Broadway / Disneyland show?! I know people say it is a huge return to form, but I preferred Tangleds songs by far, and maybe the score for Frozen over Tangled. Let it Go was stunning though, no question.
*Vocal performances. I thought Kristen gave a really generic performance as Anna - she doesn't stand out. Past Princesses always have a little something different that sets them apart vocally...I just thought she was lacking. I wanted Elsa to speak more as well!!
* Chemistry. It just wasn't there between Kristoff and Anna as it was with Flynn and Rapunzel, which made Tangled work so well.
I saw it in 3D, so will be going again to see it in 2D as well. Very well done Disney; not in my top 5 (baring in mind only one viewing though) and it doesn't beat Tangled, but a really enjoyable, solid movie.

I feel this way about most of their CGI films. I believe the only ones I didn't think that with were Meet the Robinsons and Wreck-It Ralph. Then again, Elsa's dress and ice castle couldn't be as beautiful in 2D. That's about it though.blackcauldron85 wrote:*Sigh* I adore Frozen, I still think that it's going to be one of my favorite DACs, but watching that YouTube "Let It Go" clip (just in the small window), I just wish this was hand-drawn. I finally listened to the demos on Disc 2 today. I like the deleted songs (although very glad they were deleted). Listening to "Life's Too Short," I do wish we'd seen more communication in the middle of the film between Anna and Elsa--an argument between the two would have been interesting. It would've been nice if we'd got a scene of Anna getting her memories back as a child when she and Kristoff go to the trolls; I'm not sure Anna ever realizes that Elsa is not afraid of her powers so much as she is of hurting her, like she did when they were children.
Does anyone else feel like this movie could have a sequel? There's something about the way they do their movies now that always feels as if they're left open for sequels... And I could see them for Tangled, Frozen, and Wreck-It Ralph especially. Strangely, I don't think I'd mind so much if they were created seriously.
Personally, I thought Kristoff and Anna worked better, but I don't like Flynn and find the idea of him loving Rapunzel pretty unbelievable. I noticed that the couples end the same way though, with no real wedding, just a companionship-vibe with a possibility of something more? It would be nice to see a Disney fairytale wedding ending again, like in TP&TF and TLM...atlanticaunderthesea wrote: * Chemistry.
