We're still getting Inside Out in June 2015, so it's only a two year gap. So, this is more akin to the break between Toy Story 2 and Monsters Inc.PatrickvD wrote:Yup, I just realized there will be a 2,5 year gap between MU and TGD. Their second biggest break after Toy Story - A Bug's Life.

Still, that is their longest break in years. Quite radical considering how desperately Disney wanted to capitalize on investing all those billions in PIXAR back in 2006. Sure, they've made that money back, but this two year gap suggests there is some restructuring going on behind the scenes.

Not sure what to think of this to be honest.
Not digging those designs.

Me neither. Although I've been lukewarm towards Pixar's designs earlier, I find the new designs to be more Dreamworks-esque than Pixar.PatrickvD wrote:Not sure what to think of this to be honest.

When I first saw Olaf's design, I thought, "Wow, that's bad" . . . But now with all the clips, I find him endearing.
BTW, is that dinosaur the one voiced by Bill Hader? Because it kind of looks like him.

No idea why, but that little kid reminds me of the baby (I don't know her name offhand and I don't want to look it up now) from The Croods.Sotiris wrote:A teaser poster has been leaked.

Goodness, really have to echo the sentiments on here...not feeling the designs at all. Ever so generic.
Re: The Good Dinosaur--11/25/15
http://www.bigscreenanimation.com/2013/ ... osaur.htmlUpdate (9:00 PM): It looks like this poster, nicely designed as it is, is simply a mockup leaked from the studio.
Take a look at the grasses in the bottom, particularly on the left. As reader Jonah Sidhom pointed out in comments, they appear to be exactly the same as in the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 one-sheet. Stock CG elements, perhaps?
Earlier this evening on Twitter, Pixar character designer Daniela Strijleva said that she was unaware of its origins, but that it "looks like an unfinished, unofficial piece of work that's not supposed to be out there. Not Pixar endorsed." Her tweet has since been deleted.
I thought that was the case since I first saw the poster, because it came from a similar site to the one where those leaked Frozen posters featuring Anna and Elsa were posted back in February, and because it's strange that the studio would release it after the film was delayed. I bet it's from the same person who made the other posters. Someone who has access to Disney stuff for merchandising purposes, for example.
Anyway, I like the boy's design. The dinosaur's design is a bit simple in my opinion. It looks like a dinosaur toy rather than real one. But Pixar characters usually have simple designs and I agree with what RyGuy said, sometimes they work better in motion. Oh, and Bill Hader voices another dinosaur, this one is voiced by Lucas Neff.
Re: The Good Dinosaur--11/25/15
i thought the same as you. take away the fact its pixar, and that poster looks like it could be a cover off one of those knock off dvds from the other thread. not digging the design, but i have faith in pixar, and with such a long wait i think the designs will change between now and finalization.DisneyJedi wrote:

Yeah, I like the designs, but they're highly Dreamworks, esepecially the boy. Hopefully, it'll be fixed.
BTW: The boy could be Pixar's first leading POC?

Pixar Lays Off Staff Following Delay Of The Good Dinosaur

No company is immune to financial difficulties. But if you asked me to rattle off a short list of Hollywood companies that were stable enough to weather a storm, I’d probably name Marvel Studios, LucasFilm and Pixar.
And yet, Pixar Animation Studios has been forced to layoff "an undisclosed number" of employees, according to The L.A. Times. And the reason given for the purge is the delay of the studio’s next planned animation feature, The Good Dinosaur.
What happened to The Good Dinosaur? Well, back in August, the studio pulled director Bob Peterson (co-director of Up) but failed to name a replacement. Then, a month later, the studio pushed Good Dinosaur out of 2014 and all the way back to November 2015 … making 2014 the first year in a very long time to not have a Pixar film ready for release."At Pixar, we are constantly re-evaluating the creative and business needs of our studio. With the release date change of The Good Dinosaur, we have realigned our production and support priorities, which includes a small reduction in our staffing levels."
The studio has been mum as to why Good Dinosaur had to shift direction (and directors). All Pixar president Ed Catmull was willing to say at the time was, "Nobody ever remembers the fact that you slipped a film, but they will remember a bad film. Our conclusion was that we were going to give the [dinosaur] film some more time."
On the surface, it feels like a good decision. Some have been arguing that Pixar’s quality has decreased with films like Brave and Cars 2 (though I’ll defend Monsters University to the death). The next film on Pixar’s calendar now becomes Pete Docter’s Inside Out, due in theaters on June 19, 2015. In the meantime, I wonder if all of this Dinosaur production art, introduced at D23 and other events, is outdated, or if it still will be used in some capacity?

Well, it looks like Walt Disney Animation Studios is not the only Disney Studio that gets layoffs.disneyboy20022 wrote:Pixar Lays Off Staff Following Delay Of The Good Dinosaur
