I was listening to the Fixer Upper sample and remembered that i like how instead of Anna realizing she loves Kristoff during the song, she realizes something about her sister. When the troll says something like "sometimes people do things when they are mad or sad or scared, but throw a little love their way and you'll bring out their best" Anna has this face like she is trying to figure something out, and you can tell it has nothing to do with Kristoff.
This song reminded me of "Dig a Little Deeper" where Naveen starts to realize he loves Tiana because of the lyrics of the song. It also reminded me of Kingdom Dance to a lesser extent. But I love the fact that this song kinda takes that motif, and even though the trolls are trying to spark a romance, the real point of the song is still about Anna and Elsa's relationship.
Even though I thought it was a little odd to take that much time for this scene considering the approaching threat, I appreciate that even in the ~romance~ song of the movie, the focus is not taken away from the two sisters.

I can't stop listening to the song previews.

I didn't like Frozen heart at first. But after paying attention to the orchestration. WOW. There's a lot going on.

To be honest, I wasn't impressed with the bits from the score that I heard so far. Perhaps for the biased reason that I was spoiled by Patrick Doyle's amazing score for "Brave" last year. But I'll still give the soundtrack a shot.

Either way, the only songs that really impressed me (so far) are "Let It Go" and "For The First Time in Forever". "Frozen Heart" was also okay, though I hoped it would be grander. I could tolerate "Love Is An Open Door", but the rest of the songs were unimpressive.

Frozen Heart reminded me a lot of Fathoms Below. In addition to the way it's orchestrated and sung, it sets up the Norweign landscape in Frozen the same way Fathoms Below sets the tone for the nautical setting in The Little Mermaid.

Is it just me or there seems to be a lot more innuendo in these songs than in Disney's previous works? Puns, too.

I really love the music and lyrics so far to all the songs and I was drooling to how amazing and epic the score is! I'm actually in the minority, but Frozen Heart is exactly what I expected and I love it! The rest of them are really great in their own unique way, and they are already better songs than TPATF and Tangled could ever be (or wish for that matter). My favorite score track is the Summit Invasion one, it reminds me of the stampede scene from TLK, especially the choir.

I was listening to the outtakes of Life's too Short and it's reprise and it sounds really cute. It sounds really similar to the story we ended up with, but with a more open Elsa who talks more and explains her feelings. I like what we ended up with better, because they are able to beautifully convey Elsa's emotion without words, in a subtle way that fits her character better. But this sounds fun too. It sounds a lot more like a musical, and definitely has that Elphaba/Glinda vibe in both the sound and theme (both apologizing to the other). It seems like they ended up with a much darker feeling with the final version, which I also like.

On the other hand, I love More Than Just a Spare. Beautiful, and adds to how Anna feels compared to her sister.

See, I thought it was Anna singing Life's Too Short (Reprise), as she mentions being "an oblivious fool."

Of course, I am pretty sure it's Kristen Anderson-Lopez singing in the outtakes, so...

Yeah, the outtakes are a little difficult to tell who's singing it because both characters are sung by Kristen Anderson-Lopez. I'm honestly not too sure if the Reprise is a duet, or just Anna. The part you mentioned must be Anna.

But when i was talking about Elsa being more open and talkative, I meant in Life's Too Short, not the reprise. Elsa sings "I'm so glad you like it sis cause this the real me" "you have no idea how great it feels to be free" and "why don't you stay" (to Anna). She also seems like she is totally against going back, even when Anna brings up the fact that the fjord is frozen. It seems like Elsa is a little more reckless in this version, because it sounds like Elsa is aware of the freeze, but just doesn't want to put the gloves back on. But she does still want her sister to live in her castle with her, and she doesn't seem as afraid of hurting her, or anyone else in this version. In the final version, Elsa wouldn't let her sister too close to her even after she let it go, and once she found out she started a freeze on Arendelle, she just became absolutely distraught and desperate, because she didn't want to hurt people, and she didn't know what to do.

About the innuendo: The only thing i remember is when Kristoff was trying to get Anna to realize marrying a guy she just met was not smart. So he was asking her questions about him, and he asked if Anna knew Hans' foot size, and Anna said "foot size doesn't matter". I am still honestly not sure if this is actually innuendo or not haha.

I really loved Brave's score.. I still listen to it all the time.

I do think that Frozen's score sounds very similar to Brave's.

Wonderful review!

I really hope that the score gets nominated, despite the stupid "no musicals" rule because the Norweigan influence is really something to behold. It's so gorgeous.

I think out of the deleted songs, I think they defientely should have at least kept You're You and We Know Better. W/ WKB, you get a better view of Elsa and Anna's friendship/relationship. I esepecially loved their little game in it. And we would have seen Baby Anna. :D You're You is more Disney classic than LIAOD (which 2 of the critics hates) and it would better for the reveal with "sweet, charming" Hans singing these things and most of all, you would hear Santino's skills with his singing voice more. As a person who heard LIAOD in its entirely, you don't hear the classical side of Santino's singing voice (look him up in Cinderella and you get what I mean) and it disappoints me. But, he stills sounds great. But with You're You, we could have heard that. :(

I see why they removed Life is Too Short. It's a great song, but with the plot and the happy mood, it feels out of place and it would be awkward. The FTFTIF reprise was the perfect choice.
