Re: Frozen: Part V
No one cares about user reviews unless they're from users here. They're not even good for spoilers anymore because the entire script has leaked. We know you have to post a negative review every time someone posts something positive but my god, this doesn't have to be fair and balanced!
Anyway, Let It Go has really grown on me. I LOVE the bridge and it gives me chills. I can't imagine what a good quality version will sound like.

I was posting it because I found it funny. And I was pointing out those spoilers as a warning, also to emphasize how much of a dick he was being.Lady Cluck wrote:No one cares about user reviews unless they're from users here. Perhaps I had gone too far in trying to be 'fair and balanced' in the past though, you were right for calling me out on my bullshit in the aftermath of that Michael Sporn thing.

User review that seems to be rare (so far) in being neither gushing nor negative; mostly positive, with some reservations.

Re: Frozen: Part V
Well, they did join the 21st century with Wreck it Ralph and possibly Lilo & Stitch. But otherwise, what's wrong with it feeling like it could have been made in the 40s? Isn't that kind of a good thing? Especially since a lot of us were waiting for something that felt a little more like the films of old?Disney, when are you ever going to join the 21st century? Its animation studio just stays living in the past.

Re: Frozen: Part V
This is actually the sentiment I was expecting to pop up in most reviews.... That Olaf/The Jokes ruined the movie. There is a thin line between humorous jokes and stupid jokes, and from what this guy said, I feel like he thinks Olaf crossed it. But then there are all the other professional reviews that state that Olaf is like 'the best thing evar!'. So, maybe you are right, he is a love him or hate him character.PrincessElsa wrote:User review that seems to be rare (so far) in being neither gushing nor negative; mostly positive, with some reservations.

With that being said, I believe our blog poster forgot to think about how the family film lives today. Gone are the 90s, where you didn't really need jokes to put butts in seats. Children, thanks mostly to the internet, are not longer as naive as they used to be, so they need some sort of pull to get those kids laughing. IMO, professional critics are usually better at being able to realize the socio-economic status of the world and know why films like 'Frozen' have to put this kind of shit into it.
ButI guess I will have to see for myself. I have an advanced screening tomorrow and then I will post my review for the movie here when it is done.

Re: Frozen: Part V
That amateur review's comments on the sisters are interesting:
I think the film will be great; but masterpiece or not? I'm trying to avoid over-hyping myself.
I wouldn't be surprised to see more impressions such as this, but then, that was somewhat my impression of the story in the first place.Elsa and Anna are on completely different spectrums. Anna, voiced by Kristen Bell, is such a product of our time; She can easily blend in amongst Hannah, Marnie, and especially Shoshanna. There was so much about her that can make one think “…I know this girl…” but not in the sense we’ve gotten with Rapunzel and Ariel; like in the sense of “I’ve met this girl at a party and she reminds me of Kristen Wiig’s impression of Bjork on SNL.” Seriously. Bell’s performance was fine, she played it well, nothing spectacular though. She didn’t really have anything distinct about her voice that can identify who Anna is, you could use anyone’s voice really, it was the same problem with Mandy Moore as Rapunzel. But I guess overall she’s a good one to add to the Disney Princess line only to get lost in the line overshadowed by her predecessors.
But I was more fascinated by Elsa, voiced by Idina Menzel. Her look is so beautiful, and her internal struggle is so sad to see and gives the character so many dimensions. She probably only has a little bit more of screen time than Princess Aurora did in Sleeping Beauty though, The entire time I kept thinking, I want more of her. She has one of the best designs of any animated character, comparable to the designs given to us by legend Glen Keane. Menzel’s voice is the perfect mixture of elegance, struggle, and pain. Her main song “Let It Go” is actually one of the best songs from a musical film in general, and Idina singing it is so powerful, for me it was one of the best moments of the film.
I think the film will be great; but masterpiece or not? I'm trying to avoid over-hyping myself.

Re: Frozen: Part V
Frozen really better win Best Score. Forget the fact that it is not eligible because it's from a musical. If it's beautiful, it should be nominated! Because THE VUELIE REPRISE is absolutely stunning. That alone might make me cry, not the scene where it is placed.
That alone should make Frozen win Best Score.
That alone should make Frozen win Best Score.

Here is an, um, interesting review of the movie.:

So, he basically says the movie is irredeamable. Personally, I didn't find his review to be professional at all and it struck me as trollish.
His review will not count towards the RT score.

Ah well, there are some "critics" like that.

He's free to dislike the movie however he wishes, but wow, are his nostalgia goggles pinned on extremely tight.

Re: Frozen: Part V
It is his opinion but what I don't like is he said this movie was aimed at the lowest common denominator. There is a difference in being opinionated and there is being an absolute snob. I mean if this really was aimed at the lowest common denominator then they would not have done good research on Norway and how royal coronations work.

Wow, that review must be a joke. It isn't that he hated it, it was that he was so immature. And that will ruin a perfect RT score.

Re: Frozen: Part V
I also want to know what he thought was cliché because he said the movie was just like the other CGI family movies of the past years. From what I have heard and seen from spoilers is the fact that Frozen subverts and twists some Disney tropes in this movie.
Re: Frozen: Part V
His review will NOT count towards the RT meter. MovieWeb is not a publication that they list. And from what I read here and from other reviews of the cute, I see why.disneyprincess11 wrote:Wow, that review must be a joke. It isn't that he hated it, it was that he was so immature. Trust me, I couldn't even finish reading. Everyone has their opinions, and I fully respect them, but I can hardly remember the last time I read a review that gave me a headache in a matter of two minutes. I understand that not everyone is going to like the movie, and that's fine, but I just felt like he was trying so desperately to think of ways to trash the film. Some I even felt like they weren't even necessary.Coolmanio wrote:Here is an, um, interesting review of the movie.:

I actually stopped reading when he said that the movie treats its audience as idiots, which many of them are. You know, this is my personal pet peeve when it comes to movie reviews. Just because a reviewer likes or doesn't like a movie, is it really necessary to call the audience idiots when they have different opinions? Yeah, I know, free speech, but everyone else also have rights to state whether they like or don't like a movie. Something like this makes the reviewer come off as a smug personality that just screams, "My opinion is more valid, and I'm smarter than you." It's fine that a reviewer doesn't like a movie, but don't try to state that someone is an idiot just because that person has different opinions.
Also, Hans Christian Andersen's "Ice Queen." Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that Hans called it that, instead of "The Snow Queen." What was I thinking? This is another pet peeve of mine. You know, if a reviewer is going to criticize a movie that's inspired from an original story, at least have the courtesy to state the correct title of that story. When you have so many websites like Wikipedia, or even Barnes & Noble, it's just inexcusable.
Honestly, I felt like I shouldn't have made a big deal out of it, but when I read a review that gives me a headache in a matter of two minutes, I just can't help but get it off my chest.

Unfortunately, this sentiment is all too common across the internet. It is so common to come across opinions expressing that the general audience for films are idiots or sheep. Or even that the average person is stupid in general as if the person commenting isn't a regular person him/herself.Sorcerer Mickey wrote:Trust me, I couldn't even finish reading. Anyone else notice that the reviewer misspelled Elsa.. He wrote Else...
