Escapade in Florence Annette Movie coming to DMC

Post by disneyboy20022 »

I always keep an eye out for exclusive Disney Movie Club movies that are listed in coming soon eligible titles on The Disney Movie Rewards Website and they listed a new one. It's for once a Walt Era Classic, starring Annette Funicello

I shocked, amazed, and truly grateful to see ''Escapade in Florence'' on the release schedule. Thanks to the powers-that-be -- and I hope ''Horsemasters'' and ''Prince and the Pauper'' soon follow.

Somewhere Annette is smiling. ''Bella bella Florence... Firenze!''

This is fantastic news! Glad to see that DMC has not given up on the older, Walt-era live action films. Hopefully, The Prince and the Pauper is in the pipeline too (preferably the three-episode version that aired on the anthology show).

Thank you so much, Disney Movie Club, for making this available, and thanks to everyone who pushed for it to happen. I too hope The Horsemasters is paired with Escapade In Florence, and I hope more classic titles are still to come. I'm so happy to know Disney is continuing to release the older titles.

At least from what I have seen, I think the top three Walt-Era tv films that have been asked for the most are Escapade, Horsemasters and Prince and the Pauper. With all the fan support for petitioning the DMC for these titles, this doesn't really suprise me one bit. :D

I will definitely be ordering Escapade in Florence once it is out, has always been one of my favorite Disney films. I wish they would do an Annette 2 or 3 some when it comes out would love to get Horsemasters and Lots of Luck as well.

Thrilled to see this too! Would be a nice pairing with The Horsemasters as a tribute to Annette.

I got my Disney Movie Club flyer in the mail today, and the only exclusive that is new that's listed is Escapade in Florence. So it appears Escapade In Florence stands alone.

On the bright side at least we get a Walt Era Classic for once.

If not a DMC member - resellers already have ''Escapade in Florence" listed on Amazon and Disney is apparently selling these exclusives directly on ebay now too. Yay!

Let's hope for Annette's "The Horsemasters" to follow...

is there still no word on what condition this release is in? what format? the original 2 episodes or the edited theatrical release, that was later put on vhs in the '80's?

Just got done watching it.

Unfortunately the master used is the same that was used for the 1986 VHS release. The cut from the UK theatrical release.

Title Card from the VHS and the new DVD release :

Please note that was taken from an old conversion I had done of my VHS to DVD years ago.

But the quality is nearly identical, same blips scratches little bit of digital break-up in a couple spots. Very watchable though. Just not "Digitally Remastered" as the back of the case describes unfortunately.

If you already have the VHS release, you don't need to get this.

But if you want a legit pressed DVD release of this timeless film it is still worth a buy.

I'm saving my money! I have a bootleg of it and that is what I will watch. DMC, you are a disgrace.

Was this offered on the DMC's website? I looked and didn't find it there, so I bought it on ebay.
