Re: Monsters University
Well, seeing how The Good Dinosaur just got pushed back to 2015, they'll have to do something about Party Central. To be honest, they'd be crazy to have us wait an extra year to watch the short.
See, this is exactly why they would've been better off having Party Central as a bonus feature for the Monsters University Blu-Ray/DVD combo release, especially considering how they premiered the short in its finished state at the D23 Expo. I may not know the reason to release the short alongside with The Good Dinosaur, but one would have to believe that anything can happen when making a film, which could cause a delay.
I'm hoping they came up with a back-up plan in the case of what happens with the The Good Dinosaur, but I honestly believe that it's too late to add in the short as a bonus feature in time for the MU Blu-Ray/DVD release. I guess the only option is to either release the short on a separate DVD, or on TV, because I highly doubt that fans would want to wait an extra year to see Party Central.

Maybe they can air next month since the timing's appropriate or even as an extra for an eventual Toy Story Of Terror! And I really want to see this short so I know where the continuity to this lies in.

Well clearly its after Toy Story 3. That's all we really need to know isn't it?Mickeyfan1990 wrote:And I really want to see this short so I know where the continuity to this lies in.

I'm pretty sure Mickeyfan is speaking of the MU short, not the Toy Story special.Kyle wrote:Well clearly its after Toy Story 3. That's all we really need to know isn't it?Mickeyfan1990 wrote:And I really want to see this short so I know where the continuity to this lies in.

I really hope we'll get to see Party Central as soon as possible, preferably on the upcoming Blu-ray release.

Re: Monsters University
As we get closer and closer to the Blu-Ray release date, more details about the extra features emerge.
According to Entertainment Weekly, there is a deleted scene that involves both Mike and Sulley in the 4th grade. This part of the article explains why they didn't use it:
Nevertheless, the clip from the article shows off the deleted scene of Mike and Sulley in the 4th grade, and will be featured as one of the deleted scenes in the Blu-Ray release.
Also, if you honestly can't wait until October 29th, the movie is available on iTunes right now.

You know, watching that clip from Monsters, Inc again, I guess you really could make an argument that Mike's "4th grade" line serves as an expression as if he was saying, "for a long time." Also, the way Sulley chuckles, he could also be thinking, "Oh, boy, there he goes again. Exaggerating like he always does." Besides, I highly doubt that he even gives a rip about Mike's so-called "good looks." But, of course, that's just my honest opinion on this whole thing.“As much as we could, we wanted to be totally respectful of the continuity of the first film,” says Scanlon. “Our first inclination was to try to make it work, to do versions where they became friends in fourth grade. Basically, after trying it a lot, we felt like it was robbing the audience of the experience of really watching a relationship grow. And we realized we were going through all these hoops for this one line that doesn’t affect the story in a negative way. It was really [Monsters, Inc. director] Pete Docter and John Lasseter who said, ‘It’s not as important as you think. You’re not hurting the movie to ignore that line.’”

Oh my goodness! I wanted to see more of Mike as a kid anyway and I've been curious about how Sulley looked as a kid (I know he'd be cute but how are his body proportions?) since watching MU back in June. The scene is going to be adorable!Sorcerer Mickey wrote:According to Entertainment Weekly, there is a deleted scene that involves both Mike and Sulley in the 4th grade.

I only wished that they included the deleted bar fight scene where Mike spills a drink on Johnny's fraternity sweater on purpose. Which of course, led to a chaotic fight where no one even remembers what it was about.

Re: Monsters University
Today was the last day for Monsters University to be shown at our local discount cinema. We had it since August, and it did really well.

Man, I hate it when this happens sometimes. Target is apparently selling the Blu-Ray/DVD combos with a never-before-seen bonus content called "College Days."
Of course, I already pre-ordered the movie a couple of months ago, and it is now on its way. So, there's nothing I can do about it.

Re: Monsters University
The thing that is interesting about both movies is that after the events of Monsters Inc, how will the entire monster world react to the new found practice of comedy/laughs to use as a source of energy? I'll bet that it won't bode well with the political side of things and other scare companies (like FearCo who probably avoided the energy crisis in the first movie, most likely because of Johnny Worthington).

That's why I hope they make a real Monsters Inc 2. You don't need Boo now that you've established how culturally important scaring is and that it probably didn't transition easily.Musical Master wrote:The thing that is interesting about both movies is that after the events of Monsters Inc, how will the entire monster world react to the new found practice of comedy/laughs to use as a source of energy? Re: Monsters University
In my mind the sequel could possibly be like this: Sulley is the new CEO of Monsters Inc. and laughs are established. However this new found practice for an energy source does not bode well with the monster world for they still believe scaring is the only way to find that energy. It also does not help that Monsters Inc's competetor FearCo, is getting equal numbers in their energy charts because of Johnny Worthington who might have figured out that scaring adults is twice has powerful than children screams (remember that scene in Monsters University where Sulley scares the police and the scare cans from the monster world are filling up without being attached to the door system). Johnny on the other hand is the kind of monster who wants to go his way and Sulley will go his; while the CEO of FearCo (who could be much more scarier, and colder than Waternoose was), is plotting to destroy Monsters Inc with Randall's help (come on, Randall will find his way back to the monster world one way or another).
But that's the story of Monsters Inc. 2 in my head.

You know, that would actually be perfect for a potential sequel; Debating on using laughs or screams as energy. I take back what I said Musical Master.Musical Master wrote:The thing that is interesting about both movies is that after the events of Monsters Inc, how will the entire monster world react to the new found practice of comedy/laughs to use as a source of energy?
