Really? That kinda blows my mind. What has Pixar Canada been doing all this time then? And doesn't Pixar in Emeryville have more important, theatrical things to attend to?

Edit: sneak peak.

I think I would like Carl more if it weren't for the whole talk in third person thing.

There is a behind the scenes video at Pixar's Youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuUgh5xYgXI

And three new posters here:
http://www.jposters.com.ar/2013/10/nuev ... corto.html

But, does anybody know if the special can be viewed outside the US somewhere?
I remember the first Prep & Landing special was available to all countries on Disney's official site, but the second one wasn't. Well, if it's not, maybe someone records it and puts it on the web. I hope so, because in my country there are no news at the moment that it will be aired on tv. They sometimes come here a year later.

I’m not used to the programs to download movies, but I found the second Prep & Landing to watch online and some Toy Story shorts, so I suppose it won’t be too complicated to find this special.

A lot of reviews and articles about the special have surfaced, now that we are close to its release. I've only read two reviews but they seem to be positive in general.

Here is the one from Jim Hill:

An article from Disney Insider:

Another (interesting) article from The Wall Street Journal:

And the evolution of a frame from the film:

Just saw it. Some random thoughts.

I liked it, though it wasn't quite what I expected. It didn't really fit the title much. If you ignore the opening where they watch the horror movie. The pricklepants commentary felt forced, like they had to shoehorn that in to remind us its meant to spoof the horror genre. It wasn't as funny as I hoped it would be, but I was entertained non the less. Very nice animation, looked just as good as the theatrical releases if not better in many instances. The whole Jessie being afraid of being inside boxes was a bit weird considering she had no problem at the end of toy story 3. I guess I can rationalize that as she doesn't like being alone in boxes, especially in unfamiliar environments.

Was I the only one thinking the next half hour special (if that is still happening) might take place at billy's house? That's where the end credits seemed to be hinting at. Maybe I'm over thinking it though.

I noticed they used the beeping sound for the transformer character.

It's possible that was there to show they got out okay, like how the end credits scenes in Toy Story 3 were added in, so we know Sunnyside had a complete face-lift and all of the toys are now good and happy.

Someone pointed this out on another forum. (regarding an easter egg)

AL was the one who placed the winning bid on Woody. The Mailing Address for Woody reads

Al's Toy Barn

Neither appear at all. You don't see any toy Bonnie doesn't bring with her in her suitcase.

My 9 year old grandson, and six year old granddaughter had one question after it was over.

"How come there weren't any scary parts in this show. It's called "Toy Story of Terror" and all we did was laugh."

We didn't have a good answer for them, so we just told them the toys probably found what happened to Woody very scary.

Great show in my opinion. I found it to be very funny and very special.

Yeah, I mean Baby face in the first Toy Story was probably scarier than anything in this special.

I won't use spoiler tags since this special has already aired, but if you want to avoid spoilers, skip this post. :)

I think the "toys disappearing one by one" could have been creepy if they'd had the time to really build enough atmosphere. But with a 25 minute time limit, it was over too quickly to have any sort of impact. That, and Pricklepants kind of sucked any tension out of the special by not shutting up. I really liked the focus on Jessie, though. This was a good way for her to be the hero, even if her claustrophobia was a little exaggerated. The movies never even hinted that she had it that bad.

The hotel manager hijacking the police car was a little... cartoony for Toy Story, but I'll admit I still laughed. This one had a lot of great jokes. That "old timer" clock was cute.

Aside from Pricklepants' commentary and Potato Head's near complete apathy to the idea of never seeing Woody ever again (he's a pessimist, yeah, but not to that degree), I really enjoyed this special. I love these characters so much; I'd love to see more TV specials like this.

Yet the con man and his lizard pal were funny no doubt.

Did the lizard reminded anyone of Joan from Rescuers 2?

yep I thought of Joanna too!

I'll ask again without spoiler code this time, anyone know if the delivery kid was supposed to be Sid from the first TS? In TS3 he has a small cameo as one of the garbage guys, & the guy in the special looked like him.

I liked the special too. It’s true that it wasn’t really scary. The final part was more action/adventure than horror film, but it still had references to horror movies, especially to Psycho. I missed some of the characters who didn’t appeared in this like Slinky, Hamm or Mrs. Potato, but it makes sense that Bonnie would only take a few toys to a trip like this, and we get to know better some of the other characters.

The following easter eggs have been confirmed by the director in an interview:
The Pizza Planet truck, for example, is in the motel owner’s calendar of “Iguanas of the Month” beside his computer. In the graveyard scene at the very beginning of the short, all the tombstones belong to dead Pixar characters. Creepy! And of course as is tradition, there is artwork above the motel beds that hint to Pixar’s next film, The Good Dinosaur. There are several other easter eggs hidden in Toy Story of TERROR!, so be sure to keep an eye out when it airs!
http://www.hypable.com/2013/10/10/toy-s ... interview/

And there are more on this page:
http://www.pixarpost.com/2013/10/toysto ... eview.html

But I couldn’t find anything regarding Sid’s cameo, if it is indeed him.
Well, there are some similarities between the two, though the delivery guy looks older to me and they said the events in the special take place only six months after TS3.

While they were both probably the same model more or less, the fact that there's no skull on him anywhere, no headphones, has a different job, and the credits don't list Erik von Detten as his voice, I think its safe to say its not him. If they wanted to sneak that in as a cameo it would have been easier to tell I think.

I didn't catch the truck. If they put that in there I'm surprised they didn't use John ratzenberger at any point. I guess it'd be weird to have him voice a character that isn't Hamm in the toy story universe, and bringing Hamm along definitely wouldn't have fit into the story unless they actually started out or ended up showing bonnie's room.
