For anyone interested, I've maintained a "no-contact" policy with dvdjunkie since March 2, 2012, when he outright lied about my absence from UD in
this thread. I returned to the forums on that day to make two posts, one in defence of the Disney College Program, and another one refuting his lie. Unfortunately, malware has affected that page, which I briefly braved in order to show his lie, as well as my response:
On February 25, 2012, dvdjunkie wrote:Another word about our dear friend Escapay. I just realized by reading his Facebook page that he has this thing for some guy named Brett Dodge, and I really think that as soon as the newness wears off, we will see him make small appearances on our forums. Don't know who this Brett Dodge is, but after listening to one of his shows, I am not all going back to that mis-information, albeit review show.
On March 2, 2012, I wrote:Some clarification is needed. The only misinformation here is from dvdjunkie, who has no idea what he's talking about. In the future, he will no longer be able to offer these misinformed updates as I've removed him from my Facebook.
I've known BRENT (not Brett) Dodge since 2004. He worked with my sister on the college program, and since then, has generally become part of the family. My siblings and I look to him as an honorary brother, the fourth member of our NJ Trilogy. Ever since my younger brother moved down to Florida, the two have become best friends, and whenever the family visits Walt Disney World, we always hang out with him. There is no newness to wear off, because there's nothing "new" about him.
Brent Dodge has written a book about Walt Disney World entitled
From Screen to Theme: A Guide to Disney® Animated Film References Found Throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. It was written and published after six years of research and hundreds of trips to Walt Disney World. He's in the process of writing follow-up books, while also maintaining his web site, FromScreenToTheme.com, which holds a wealth of information about the parks, in addition to the interactive features such as "Where in the World?", "Where in the Land?", Trivia of the Day, Picture of the Day, and From Screen to Theme's Days of the Week.
Since 2009, Brent has been hosting "The W.E.D.nesday Show," a weekly video podcast (broadcast live Wednesday nights at 9:30 pm, Eastern Time), dedicated to all things Disney. In addition to "The W.E.D.nesday Show," Brent also does live broadcasts within the parks, entitled "Saturday in the Park." Last November, he interviewed Disney archivist Dave Smith (someone who he's already known for a couple years), and this past Wednesday, he hosted a 24-hour broadcast of "One More Disney Day," taking viewers throughout Magic Kingdom during the entire 24 hours.
Brent Dodge is knowledgeable in all things Disney. He knows it more than anyone else I know of, either in person or online. The greatest testament to that is the fact that his team, the Peoplemovers, won D23's Walt Disney World Scavenger Hunt, beating out renowned Walt Disney World podcasters like Lou Mongello (host of WDWRadio) and Ricky Brigante (host of Inside the Magic). He'll be enjoying his prize later this month: a stay on the newest ship in Disney Cruise Line, the Fantasy.
From 2009 to 2011, I balanced online time between UD and FSTT. I've been a chat-room moderator for "The W.E.D.nesday Show" since its inception, and have been a staff writer for From Screen to Theme's Days of the Week, maintaining the "Saturday Matinee" column. At UD, I was the unofficial Search Nazi, took over the Forum Awards in 2010 (before bequeathing it SpringHeelJack last year), and was able to revisit my reviewing roots by writing a review for the Rita Hayworth DVD box set in 2010.
I left UD in May 2011 for my own reasons, none of which were connected to my being at FSTT. I came back in September to properly say "good night," and again in November/December for Secret Santa. I don't intend on coming back to the forums again unless prompted to for a serious matter (such as my post in nachonaco's thread), or to clear up a lot of misinformation.
I still visit the main page, read reviews, and comment on Facebook. It's the forum I left, not the site.
So...the next time anyone decides to take it upon themselves to inform the good folks of UD what I'm up to, please get your facts straight. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at UD's forums, but my reasons for leaving are mine and mine alone. How dare anyone decide to speak up for me based on their own skewed assumptions.
I'm sorry that this message had to end on a rather sour note. To remedy that, here's a fun moment with Bret McKenzie and Kermit the Frog:

So, for me at least, I've had firsthand experience with his lying, which he continues to insist is something he does not do on these forums.
I must confess, when the forum received its huge upgrade this past March, I was content in hearing about it on Facebook, but not bothering to check it out, simply because dvdjunkie was still here. I'd happily maintained no contact from him on Facebook (having de-friended him and blocked his account), and did not want to allow that person to have any other access to information I may share or thoughts I may have, should I return and make posts. However, after some e-mails from some close UD friends (Luke, pap64, enigmawing, disneyboy20022, etc.), I decided to do a "temporary" return. And, of course, that led to staying again, now as a moderator. But I still maintain a "no-direct-contact" policy. I have not directly addressed him at all, though I may indirectly address the content of his posts, simply to ensure that proper information is presented.
For example, the same day that I had made the post here, I also had to do one in the
Halloween Viewing Log 2013. Earlier, dvdjunkie again stressed the importance of a rule in which only theatrical films were allowed to "count" in a marathon. Apparently, that rule has been on the internet for years, and has been cited to Bill Hunt's The Digital Bits. But I knew for a fact that the rule was never on TDB (and that web site never had a forum, either), nor was it ever mandated here (Aaron Wallace began the Halloween viewing logs in 2009).
I made a post to refute his claim, which, no surprise, has been summarily ignored.
Regarding a "letter of disgust" sent to Luke, I am not surprised. If my own information were presented in such away, I would be shocked, hurt, and surprised. I likely would have done the same. But I am prepared to accept whatever disciplinary action Luke decides to take
on the forum.
Legally, I did nothing wrong. I did not break any laws. I did not go digging through his personal life. I did not hire a private investigator. I simply did what anyone would do when in search of the truth: examine the claim, research for facts, report the findings. On all those posts, dvdjunkie still remains the author. He has posted here for the past nine years, and thus, this forum features a wealth of information that he has freely submitted of his own accord. He chose to write that information, he chose to hit the "Submit" button, and he chose to allow it to remain "public record" on the forums.
As I said before, let those posts speak for themselves, and make your own decision in what you wish to believe.
Life's a happy song. I have no reason to be jealous of anyone.
