So, on top of fighting crime, Baymax is also going to serve as an almost-brother, as Hiro's real brother is dead.
Sounds pretty Disney to me.

Source: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/08/29/ ... creenplay/There’s not a lot known about Don Hall‘s film so far, but I can tell you now that it’s certainly true that most of the characters in the film are teenagers and, before the high-tech action kicks in, there’s a little bit of classroom character stuff. Brilliant, then, that Bert V. Royal has come in to do some work on the film’s screenplay.

Source: http://www.cartoonbrew.com/disney/froze ... 92787.htmlPaul Briggs is currently working on Big Hero 6, the upcoming Disney/Marvel Comics feature, which by definition alone, will be action-packed and visually thrilling, however, he’s quick to point out that the same rules apply to every story. “I’m really excited to work on a Marvel superhero movie,” he says, “but finding a pure, emotional, universal truth that everybody can relate to is what excites me the most.”
Source: http://www.mysanantonio.com/entertainme ... 304152.phpBriggs is now working on a new animated movie, “Big Hero 6.” [...] “I'm excited,” he said. “I don't think of it as just a superhero movie but also a strong emotional story. That's what makes Disney animation movies powerful: that universal connection, delivering more than what people are expecting.”

Staffers tell me when Big Hero 6 is fully ramped up, work space for the crew will be at a premium. Added to which, there's lots of projects in development, with artists spending their work days in story conference rooms, hashing out plot lines and character arcs.
Source: http://animationguildblog.blogspot.com/ ... drive.htmlSteve Hulett wrote:Inside the hat building, production is accelerating on Big Hero 6. Staff tells me that there's a lot of action unfolding in the new picture, which isn't surprising given it's Marvel origins. An artist also told me that a memo/e-mail went around on Tuesday that said, in effect: "Oh, we're adding songs to Big Hero 6." (April FOOL!)
When production ends on BH6 next Fall, I'm informed that large numbers of staff will be temporarity moved out so that building renovations -- which have been ongoing -- can be completed on all three floors of the structure's interior.
Source: http://animationguildblog.blogspot.com/ ... t-hat.htmlSteve Hulett wrote:Part of my afternoon was spent at Disney's animation facility on Riverside Drive, where banners announcing "Big Hero Six -- November 7" hang at the entrance. In the hallway, there are videos and displays of WDAS's next major release, and a little further on, Disney artists and tech directors are bent to their tasks, making sure the production is ready for an early November release. The tight production schedule is now hitting most departments, and the workloads are robust. ("We got your overtime right here!").
Source: http://animationguildblog.blogspot.com/ ... round.htmlSteve Hulett wrote:WDAS is packed as work continues on Big Hero 6. Speaking of Big Hero, all departments inside the Hat building are well into work on the feature, even as story work for BH6 wraps up. As one crew-member said: "Big Hero 6 has a short schedule, about as short as I've seen. But the footage that the departments have turned out so far looks great. These guys are now used to working together and they can move fast. And they do."
I can attest that scenes look good. This morning I got to see stuff that the first-floor staff is working on, and the work is top-notch; also unlike any of the CG shows that have come before. The Marvel input is in strong evidence. For this project, Disney is far away from Princessland.

Wow, I'm actually getting a little interested in this
But I'm worried that more people are going to complain about this than FROZEN with the teenage drama and stuff. And with no Pixar movie next year, this might get Best Animated Movie 2015!

I didn't even think of that. I wonder if that was a plan to help Disney animation build its reputation back up, which seems to be the executives' focus right now--less so on Pixar. I'm not disappointed, since I'm not a Pixar fan, but from their perspective, they're playing a bit of a dangerous game considering, while Disney has been improving in the eyes of audiences, Pixar had been sliding backwards. I guess it's difficult to have them both doing well at once.

This movie will be so much fun and it's about time some obscure Marvel work becomes the next Disney animated film after Frozen.
This movie does indeed look promising and I've seen some pictures from D23 on Big Hero 6 and it looks like a huge refresh on these Marvel characters.

Re: Big Hero 6
Well this actually looks interesting.
I'm all for Disney to step out of their comfort zone and do films that are quite different from the image the company's associated with (fairy tales, princesses, whatnot). I mean, Wreck It Ralph and Lilo and Stitch are as different as they come in contrast to previous Disney films, yet the have enough "heart" and are probably some of the best films.
So yeah I think this looks very promising in general.
I think the female characters look promising, too, and I hope Disney will finally see that a female character doesn't need to be a princess to be "good"- I hope they sell dolls of them.
The Gogo character reminds me of Spinelli from Recess.
(What's wrong with the Three Caballeros being linked to Mexico in WDW? How can they be a "poor" representation, if Panchito is Mexican??
It doesn't need to feature a princess to work).

As a fan of comics, Disney and Marvel this looks like a very promising movie so far and i hope the teaser comes out with Frozen.
I'm glad Disney is using obscure Marvel characters to be a movie and should be as good as Disney's latest movies especially last year's Wreck it Ralph.

Re: Big Hero 6
If people are talking about crappy Disney film titles ... this has got to be one of the silliest, no ?
I'm still undecided about the superhero / Classics crossover ... hopefully my doubts will be for nothing though.

Well it's sticking to the title of the source material so you can't really hate on Disney for that.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:If people are talking about crappy Disney film titles ... this has got to be one of the silliest, no ?![]()

Re: Big Hero 6
Source: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page ... e&id=48187Q: Lastly, what's the latest update on Disney's planned "Big Hero 6" animated film? Are you in the scriptwriting phase? Are there any ways the project is evolving differently for you since it's a part of Disney's animation division?
Joe Quesada: "Big Hero 6" is really looking great. Don Hall, Kristina Reed and the entire crew are such amazingly talented people and have such a love for all things Marvel that it's been an absolute blast working with them. They've really taken the BH6 property, which at the end of the day doesn't have a lot of publishing history behind it, and built an entire world and mythology around it.
Being there from the very beginning, the process has been amazing to watch. The amount of research Don and his crew have done is exhaustive and beyond thorough, and I don't just mean with respect to reading the comics. From the design of the characters and their tech to the look of the world, no stone has been left unturned and a lot of frequent flyer miles have been tallied up to get where they are at this juncture. These guys have traveled the globe to make BH6 the very best it can be. It's a tribute to how John Lasseter runs the animation division. He encourages this kind of thorough research, and you'll undoubtedly see the results in the story and on the screen and I'm sure in the making of DVD. [Laughs]
At the end of the day, the hope is that the audience won't be consciously aware of it because it'll be seamless. And really, that's what you want. You just want people to accept this incredibly fantastical world as the reality they're living in for the next 90 minutes.
Source: http://www.newsarama.com/19871-marvel-a ... plans.htmlQ: Walt Disney Animation Studios is developing a big-screen adaptation of Big Hero 6. Is Marvel’s TV animation working on anything to do with that, or in conjunction with them?
Cort Lane: The people who are really directly involved with that is Jeph and our Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada. I did have the opportunity to attend some of the early meetings, but Big Hero 6 truly belongs to Disney Feature Animation studio. We are pleased to contribute in any way we can, and I know Joe follows it closely.
Source: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/f ... rew-679137Q: Your next film is Big Hero 6, which comes out in November and is based on a Marvel comic series. How involved is Marvel?
Andrew Millstein: It's a Disney Animation Studios project. We have friends at Marvel. We like to share where we are. But it's more from the perspective of, "Share your wisdom with us, what's working, what's not." But it really lives within Disney Animation Studios.
Q: It comes from the Marvel library, but it's not a Marvel property that people are familiar with. Will you present it as Marvel-based?
Andrew Millstein: We're going to have to fine-tune the language of the presentation. But it's not a secret we are trying to hide. We will highlight that in the right way.
Source: https://www.animdesk.com/justin-sklarQ: What are your thoughts about Japanese Animation? Are you a fan or prefer good old American Animation style?
Justin Sklar: I'm not super into Miyazaki movies which feels like something I shouldn't admit, but I just have a hard time getting into them. There are a lot of things that anime does really well, though. As we start work on ‘Big Hero 6' I've been looking at a lot of anime to try and capture the crazy energy anime often has.
Q: Tell the audience and us a little bit about your latest projects, what are you working on as for 2014?
Justin Sklar: Right now I'm working on ‘Big Hero 6', which is a lot of fun. We started a little while ago and it's going to be a ton of work to get done, but I can promise it's going to look better than anything Disney has done in recent memory.

Re: Big Hero 6
Has anyone read the graphic novels? they are quite enjoyable and this could make big bucks at the box-office with the film adaptation plus be a hit just like last year's Wreck it Ralph.
But when will they find the voice actors?

Just wondering, but is Big Hero 6 as relevant as other Marvel series, like Spider-Man, X-Men or even Captain America? That's kind of my chief concern.

Re: Big Hero 6
That's why WDAS chose Big Hero 6. They were looking for something on the obscure side, something they could make more their own. The mainstrean dosen't know anything about BH6 but the Marvel connection will give it instant credibility! But WDAS has to market this smartly. If they market this like they did Frozen early on, there will be problems. They can't release the first trailer like 90 days before the film's release. But with no Pixar film next year, hopefully they will start earlier.qindarka wrote:Not even close.DisneyJedi wrote:Just wondering, but is Big Hero 6 as relevant as other Marvel series, like Spider-Man, X-Men or even Captain America?
