Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
He may not be nameless. Some documents point to his name actually being Charming. I'm ok with him having a different name, though. It's just the name Kit, even for his fake name when she doesn't know he's a prince, sounds so bad to me.

If he's using Kit, it may be short for Christopher. "Game of Thrones" actor Kit Harington's first name is Christopher.
OR, it could be an actual nod to Harington, at the request of Richard Madden, also from "Game of Thrones," who plays the Prince in this film.
I wouldn't mind a Prince Christopher, but of course, I still prefer Prince Chancellor Callum Cleophas Courtland Caldwell the IV.

I wouldn't mind his name being Christopher but Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella has done that, too. I'd prefer Charming.

Sorry to nitpick but the name is spelled: Rodgers.Disney Duster wrote:I wouldn't mind his name being Christopher but Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella has done that, too. I'd prefer Charming.
Sorry about that I'm a huge Rodgers and Hammerstein fan, I irk a tiny bit.

Looks like the stepsisters won't be ugly in this one. I find Holliday Grainger much much more beautiful than Lily James.

And Sophie has one of the most adorable faces in the world! In my mind, she's the one who has the toughest job!
Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I do find Lily James to be more plankish than leading Disney heroine in Downton; I hope the supporting cast can carry her through.

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I'm sorry, dear, but what does "plankish" mean?
Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
Sorry, as in, she acts like a plank. Stiff as anything. Nothing to her. This is just my thought, clearly people do like her skills due to Downton casting and now this...just wish it was someone more interesting is all. Feel the character of Cinderella deserves more.

Her character in 'Downton Abbey' is feisty and, well, a bit slutty. I've only seen her in that and 'Broken', but I think she's quite talented, beautiful and charismatic! But I think the film will belong to Cate anyway!
Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
Really ? Didn't see that to be honest. Especially in Downton.

Oh my gosh thank you Old Fish Tale it must be the Tremaine chateau! Oh, it's like a wonderful dream come true! Okay so it looks like it won't be just like the one in the film but I don't care it's so grand and beautiful! I didn't think they were going to build in the very real outdoors!

It makes sense as most of the film will take place there. I can't wait to see it finished. That and Cate in costume!
Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I wonder if they will replicate costumes from the Classic? Or will it be altered do you reckon?

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I doubt the characters will look the same.
Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
That will be a real shame if that happens; even Maleficant has kept her Classic costume.

Something tells me that at least Lady Tremaine and the Godmother's costumes will be very different. Both Blanchette and Bonham Carter are about 20 years younger than the characters from the animated film, or at least they look that way. Weirdly, I'm thinking Blanchette will look a lot like Christine Baranski does in the upcoming Into the Woods film. As much as I wish they'd go with something more like the original look, it'd be weird to see Blanchette with the grey up do.

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I think they will make the costumes both new and reflect the original costumes. Something in between.
I think Blanchette is just the right age for Lady Tremaine. She may not have gray hair but she doesn't look young. I figure she will get the up-do, just blonde. Or brunette, like the beginning of the movie showed she had when she was younger, and Drizella had (almost black-looking) brunette hair. Or if the stepsisters have different colored hair than the originals, some color that matches that. It would be ok if she had gray hair too, though, because people can get gray hair at pretty young ages.
