I didn't forget about that. But it hardly counts. Hell, that film was a contractual obligation.

She hasn't been physically on-screen since The Tourist in 2010. And tabloids that report on her 24/7 are referring to this as her 'comeback' from a long hiatus.

Also, Disney's marketing has not 'dropped the ball' all that much in recent years. Their productions were simply not good. All of the Bruckheimer collaborations were terrible because he is out of touch and that is why they failed.

Disney has had hit after hit over the past few years. Including the domestic and worldwide #1 movie of the past two years. We cannot keep blaming Disney's marketing for every movie that underperforms. Other studios have just as many movies underperforming if not more. And there is absolutely no reason to start worrying about this film because there's no trailer or teaser yet.

Avatar's first trailer debuted in late August and I remember people declaring the movie a failure because the studio had waited too long with rolling out the trailer and posters. Again, we do not need a trailer 8 months in advance. There are hundreds of movies coming out before then.

Complaining about this just comes across as impatience.

:) Yes, Iron Man 3 and The Avengers.

Plus the billion dollar+ fourth Pirates in 2011 and two billion dollar hits in 2010. Other studios wish they could have Disney's business model.

 I'm so sorry, it's been such a long day already, I was looking at the list, with those films at the top and thinking 'How is that anything to do with Disney?'

Blimey ....

You make a good point. When they moved the release from July to May, it signaled to me that they then lost a month of potential advertising time. They've already been so tight-lipped about everything to do with this film, and unfortunately it's not going to sell itself. Yeah The Avengers and Iron Man 3 are the #1 films of this and last year, but they're Marvel films, they sell themselves. Disney had little to do with their success. It's not that Disney is incapable of good advertising. Alice in Wonderland's success got this film green-lit, and it had an awesome marketing campaign! I just hope that Disney doesn't go on auto-pilot with this one.

With The Big Dinosaur out of the way, I'm going to guess that will allow Disney to focus a lot more on Maleficent. I predict we'll likely see the first trailer with Saving Mr Banks (or maybe even Frozen or Thor: The Dark World, what with both falling into the fantasy genre) and then we'll get the second, bigger trailer with Muppets Most Wanted.

I hate the poster that I have seen of Jolie as Maleficent it looks atrocious the horns are all wrong and her lips plumped up like the lips of a porn star!

I hope that this movie turns out to be better than I fear it will be! Why they've had to change the names of the Three Good Fairies I don't understand? It has been announced that some of the footage has been junked and that they are re-shooting a section from the beginning of the film but that Angelina Jolie is not being recalled!

It could very well be because I'm always looking on the bright and hopeful side of things when it comes to news about this movie, but I think the re-writes/re-shoots are actually good news. I mean, if the script is even a little bit real, the beginning obviously needed some re-tooling. I mean, most people claimed they wanted/hoped the script to go through a lot of re-writes, this is merely official confirmation that it has. Disney bumped up the release date, so it doesn't seem like they're concerned about the film too badly. Additionally, having re-writes and re-shoots seems to me like an indication that they legitimately want the end product to be worth of their brand.

I kind of forgot about it too. I guess we're getting a trailer soon, probably with Frozen?

Random uncredited internet rumblings had the trailer as being released with Saving Mr. Banks, but with this preview Frozen seems like a pretty safe bet.

It's on all of Disney's official facebook pages, so I guess it's safe to say, yes.

Not sure how I feel about the logo. A little too much going on there. Either way, very nice shot.
