"Cinema of Russia" in Canada
Nina Romodanovskaya wrote:September 5, 2013 Film Festival kicked off in Toronto and at the same time for the professionals of the industry opened the doors Industry Centre. At this year's film market works organized by the Ministry of Culture of the joint stand RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA, where domestic manufacturers and distributors can present their projects to foreign purchasers.
Film Market in Toronto for the joint stand RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA became the fifth international film market in 2013, the year. This year, the stand has already worked at the European Film Market (European Film Market) in Berlin, FILMART market in Hong Kong, the market MIPTV in Cannes, Marche du Film at the Cannes Film Festival.
At the end of last year by the Ministry of Culture industry experts have compiled a list of the markets in which to present the stand RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA for the international promotion of Russian cinema. It is covered by Marshe du Film in Cannes and Berlin EFM added to Toronto Film Market, MIPCOM and MIPTV, Film Market in Busan, South Korea, Hong Kong and film markets Sigapure. The experts decided not to include in the list of Film Market at the Venice Film Festival, as long as this market is in its infancy.
Igor Shibanov, CEO and organizer of the official operator of the stand - the company "Ekspokontent": "We conducted a survey, the list is based on the priority needs of the Russian content and promotion prospects of existing markets. For example, the Venice Mostra - one of the most important film festivals in the world, but the film market at the festival virtually no: last year it employed a total of nine stands, and two of them were Russian. But the film market in Toronto in terms of integration into the world and cinema - one of the best points of entry in America. All the more so in Canada has many different programs to support film production, working there are very active film companies and foundations. We believe that in Canada, it is already possible to build cooperation of the Russian film industry."
The program of the Toronto Film Festival this year involved three Russian films: "Mayor" Yuri Bykov and "Eight" by Alexei Uchitel hit the program CONTEMPORARY WORLD CINEMA the show, and "Heavenly wife Meadow Mari," Aleksei Fedorchenko will be shown in the section "Vanguard." All three paintings are also represented in the film market. International promotion of "Major" and "Eight," the company does "Roskino" and "Heaven's wife Meadow Mari" included in the package of the new international distribution companies of Anton Mazurova Antipode Sales & Distribution, which is part of the joint stand RU.C - RUSSIAN CINEMA also presents "The Geographer Globe propyl" Alexander Veledinsky and "Intimate place" Natalia Merkulovoj and Alexei Chupova . International buyers will be able to attend special screenings of the films in the market.
Along with Antipode Sales & Distribution at the stand of the Russian cinema RU.C - RUSSIAN CINEMA in Toronto will present their projects to such filmmakers and distributors as Wizart Animation, RWS, the Agency "Intercinema" Bazelevs, Total Content and Russian World Vision.
Constantine Elkin, Russian World Vision: "Stand RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA gathers in one place a wide variety of domestic projects, which allows us as a company that sells Russian cinema, look more convincing. Having a common stand on which we are from year to year, we invite our partners, helps to strengthen relations with buyers from different countries and shows customers that the Russian cinema has a future in the international market. Also as part of the stand we have the ability to communicate closely with their Russian counterparts and, therefore, establish partnerships."
Most recent films presented for sale at the booth RU.C - RUSSIAN CINEMA Canadian viewers will be shown as part of Russian Film Week in Canada, have also supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
While stand RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA does not make the selection - may become a party to stand any company that is interested in participating in a particular market. In the market Marche du Film a number of companies granted a special place in the stand, but always organized and common space for meetings. Igor Shibanov says: "While this is possible, we will expand. But soon there will come a time when we can not accept all applicants at least from a purely spatial constraints. But by the time the market will already have some structure and be designated by the key players who will be able to provide services to promote films in the framework of the stand to the public."
According to Alexandra Modestova, commercial director of the company "Ekspokontent" evaluate the effectiveness of the stand on a particular film market is difficult. Transactions with buyers of content - a long process: from dating while working on the film market stand before the signing of the contract may take a year, so debriefing immediately after the film market is not always significant. However, it is clear that interest in Russian cinema in the international market is. This can be seen both in the number of business meetings in the framework of the stand, and on the combined success of the participating companies.
For example, companies Wizart Animation during participation with a stand RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA film markets in the Cannes and Berlin managed to sell the rights to broadcast the animated film "(The) Snow Queen" in the United States, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Brazil, Indonesia, South Korea and Israel. "In animation in the international market is more likely than any other project. Animated films - easily convertible product, usually not tied to national realities. Especially since the "Snow Queen" is based on Andersen's fairy tale, famous European writer. This painting was originally destined for success,"- said Alexander Modestova.
Producer Wizart Animation Yuri Moskvin, "Stand RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA - great idea. It allows you to present the maximum number of products out of our country, and therefore is of great interest from buyers from all over the world. And, we will not hide, initiates an easy competition among the participants, which gives us all an incentive to work more, and most importantly - better. The joint stand - a very effective format. After all, under one roof gathers the best producers areas and anyone coming to the booth, get a full picture of what is happening and is produced in Russia. We do not just help to make deals and conduct important negotiations. We hope that this story will be continued and the organization stand RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA at international film markets will become a tradition."
According to Igor Shibanov, General Director of "Ekspokontenta" is very important to continue to expand the geography of RU.C - RUSSIAN CINEMA at international festivals and markets, and a presence in Toronto - an important step on the way. "Active promotion of Russian cinema to Western markets is just the last few years, and actually developing before our eyes. A drop hollows out a stone, slowly we are 'dostuchishsya to heaven'" - says Shibanov. "That is why it is so important government support the promotion of Russian cinema - among the countries in the film market and the content there is a serious competition, and without government support to be visible and 'adult' would be very difficult."
What are the steps in this direction will take the Ministry of Culture, will be clear in the autumn, in September the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medina will make a final decision on the results of the direction of international promotion of the movie.
According to Vyacheslav Telnov, head of the Department of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Culture of Russia now pays great attention to the promotion of Russian films in the international markets. "At the moment our efforts are concentrated on the promotion of the system of international film festivals and markets the best of copyright and commercial films made in recent years and received state support," said Vyacheslav Tel'nov. At the same time, maintaining RU.C RUSSIAN CINEMA, Ministry of Culture has been involved in the presentation and promotion of national cinema abroad, creating the conditions for business meetings and presentations, film projects, the establishment of business relationships and links between Russian and international film industry."

Why do I get the feeling that some scenes and the ending of Disney's "Frozen" would be similar to some scenes and the ending of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast?" It's quite obvious:
1. Anna went to Elsa's frozen castle. Belle went to the Beast's castle.
2. Kristoff helped Anna escape from Marshmallow, the snow beast. Beast helped Belle escape from the wolves.
3. Olaf helped Anna escape from her castle to save Elsa from Hans. Chip helped Belle and her father Maurice escape from their own home to save the Beast from Gaston and the mob.
4. Hans concealed Anna in her castle to kill Elsa. Gaston concealed both Belle and her father Maurice in their own home to kill the Beast.
5. Anna returned to her castle, but later corrupted by Hans. Belle returned home with her father Maurice, but later corrupted by Gaston and the mob.
6. Anna and Kristoff share their love. Belle and Beast share their love.
However, there are a few differences, but easily similar:
1. Elsa pursued her winter power and lived in her frozen castle. The Beast concealed himself in his castle, hoping to earn love and love back to break the spell.
2. Elsa told Anna that she cannot marry Hans without consent. The prince refused to accept the magic rose from the old lady (enchantress).
3. Anna revealed Elsa's winter power during the coronation. The magic lady transforms the prince into a Beast.
4. Elsa pursued her winter power and lived in her frozen castle. The Beast concealed himself, hoping to earn love and love back to break the spell.
5. Elsa attacked Anna with her winter power. The Beast barked at Belle to get out of his room after she almost touched the magic rose.
6. Anna went off to find and save her sister Elsa. Belle went off to find and save her father Maurice.
But anyways, it's just me. By the way, if you ever get a chance to watch the ending of Wizart's "The Snow Queen," you can say that it's a bit mushy, but it's pretty heroic.

I don't know. I thought it might sound "catchy." If that's not a good quote, how about this: "Give Sotiris a head's up."Sotiris wrote:Why?Polizzi wrote:Give my regards to Sotiris.
But anyways, I'm sorry. Just thought I let you know since they're going to be released before Disney's "Frozen," especially the fact that they are both based on the same fairy tale. To tell you the truth, I thought it was going to be a straight-to-DVD feature for Wizart's "The Snow Queen" since Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo sent me an Amazon site. But now what caught my surprise on IMDb under "Release Info" is that the theatrical release of it was going to be next month. Kind of ridiculous, don't you think. In my opinion, I was expecting a Christmas release, one month AFTER Disney's "Frozen," so that it can earn an advantage against Wizart's version. But since it's going to be released before it, then I'm sorry, but that's movie businesses for you and me too. But look at the bright side, it will probably only get a limited release since it's going to be released on DVD before the theatrical release of Disney's version. Wizart's version will probably receive negative reviews anyway since the reviews are incredibly low according to IMDb.
But anyways, the reason why I asked Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo to report to you, because I understand that you and the rest of the Disney fans supported "Frozen" very much, and I respect that. And I want to take this moment to apologize for the outrageous postings that I've posted of Wizart's version on the Disney's "Frozen" discussion thread, since both Wizart's version and Disney's version are both based on the same adaptation. I don't know what came over me, I guess you could say I was gone overboard, or maybe I might have given Disney too much warning, or I could be a selfish jerk after going mad over that title change that Disney made. Plus I understand that most Disney fans ignored Wizart's version for a reason, and I respect that too. But another reason why I'm letting know, is because this is it. Disney's opposition to Wizart's version is coming to U.S. theaters.
And the reason why I apologized to you, is not only the despicable postings of this post (especially that, "Hello? What's This?" site (gosh I felt like a despicable person already, but I'll fix that)), but that I truly understand your opposition against Wizart's version compared to Disney's version. And the bad news is that it's coming to U.S. theaters. At first, however, it could have been a straight-to-DVD which could strongly give Disney a very strong advantage. But with Wizart's release to theaters before Disney's release, who knows? If it received low reviews, then Disney would still prevail. But if it's positive, who knows? It could be a tie or anything. But for the record, Disney would probably do better anyway.
Thank you very much for this thread, and I appreciated it very much. Especially to other Disney fans who help provided some interesting posts, such as the international trailer and the DVD release. True that Disney fans don't care about Wizart's version, and I respect that too. The reason why I paid too much attention to it, because I knew that it could receive what they were expecting, and finally their wish had been fulfilled. So I'm sorry to let you know, but that is all I can say. I bid you good luck for Disney's "Frozen," and hopefully that it will do better than Wizart's "The Snow Queen."
P.S. Not to be a pushover or paranoid, but IF Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo gave you my message on Disney's "Frozen" thread, my message is this:
But anyways, thank you for your time. And by the way, I enjoyed the opening song to Disney's "Frozen" very much. It kind of reminds me of the transformation song from Disney's "Brother Bear," but different. However, the major scale is the same...maybe.
P.P.S. Disney's "Frozen" is always welcome in this thread.
