Actually My girlfriend though Disney created Snow White and every film they created.....I.E. Pshaw. The only sports worth watching live are baseball and soccer.

Anyways, I read the full comic and really enjoyed it.

Just goes to show you that there are no original ideas and have not been any in a long, long, long time. Everything today is ultimately a rip off of something else. I guess the originality is what combination one changes the rip off to, and maybe how much it rips off from whatever came before.

That's not too uncommon. I know quite a few people in particular who didn't realise that The Little Mermaid was based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen; they thought it was simply an original fairy tale invented by Disney. I even have a friend who doesn't know many fairy tales at all, even the most iconic; when I was talking about Jack and the Beanstalk, he said stuff such as: "Why would there be a cow in it? What does the beanstalk do? What happens in the end? Does Jack die?" On a somewhat related note, this friend has somehow seen next to no Disney films.

And cute story about the football. :pink: Endurance is a part of every good relationship. :p

Scrooge McDuck (Uncle Scrooge)

Post by Angeldude98 »

You know, Scrooge is one of my favorite Disney characters, hence why I used him as my avatar image. I wonder why he hasn't shown up since Ducktales? :? I think he is one of the funniest Disney characters ever. I love his accent, his temper outbursts and his love for adventure. After Ducktales Disney seems to have put him out to pasture and he hasen't shown up again except for short cameos in the occasional cartoon or video game. Don't you guys think it's time they brought him back from retirement? There isn't even any merchadising featuring him at the Disney parks, at the Disney stores or anytwhere for that matter! I think it's time they used him in feature film or at least bring him back to the parks and the stores! What do you think?

P.S. Oh, and I also think it's about time they released the remaining Ducktales episodes!!!!!!!!!! :D rotfl

He has appeared in some places after Duck Tales

I think he appeared in Mickey's House of Mouse

He also appeared in the DTV Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas and was voiced again by Scrooge himself, Alan Young. He might have also showed up in Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas

He also appeared in the First Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep. Here's two clips featuring Scrooge McDuck voiced by again none other than Scrooge McDuck

Also I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of Scrooge McDuck with the new Remastered Video Game.

He also has appeared in the Ducktales Darkwing Duck Crossover Comic book

Yes, I did say that he has appeared in cameos or small parts in the occasional cartoon or video game. I just wish he was included again as a major character or main character in another film or tv show, and that he was a presence in the Disney parks as well.

Actually, he wasn't in the first Kingdom Hearts. He was in the sequel, Kingdom Hearts II, though.

And yes. He was in an episode of House of Mouse, along with Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas.

I love Scrooge, but mostly because of Don Rosa's comics. I absolutely love his stories, and Scrooge is such a deep and complex character in them!

Yeah pretty much what disneyboy said.

He was the star of Mickey's Christmas Carol and Ducktales, appeared in random roles like Sports Goofy or had an entire episode dedicated to him in House of Mouse, appeared in both Mickey's Once/Twice Upon a Christmas, appeared in Kingdom Hearts II and Birth by Sleep, and now he's got the remastered Ducktales videogames and the new comics.

He's not really a forgotten character per se. Of Donald's family, I think the mainstream audience remembers him more than Ludwig Von Drake, for example.

Scrooge is awesome ! I feel like I grew up with him so I sort of like him more than Mickey or Donald because he was always around in Duck Tales and the Mickey's Christmas Carol Movie.

Plus for a rich old guy or old Duck rather he's pretty badass, independent and intelligent thrashing the old people = weak, feeble stereotype in media.

Scrooge for life.

The other day as I was browising through my extensive movie collection trying to pick something to watch, I came across my DVD copy of "Ducktales: The Movie" and noticed that in the front it says "Scrooge McDuck's First Feature Film". I wish they'd star him in a another feature film. There were plans for more Ducktales films but they were scrapped. I soooo wish they'd make another film starring Scrooge even if it did go direct-to-video!!!

Actually, in Rosa's stories, Scrooge is not nearly as complex, multi-faceted and layered as in the Carl Barks stories. Quite the opposite, Rosa has turned Scrooge into a very one-dimensional character who basically only knows two emotions: cranky or sappy.

Scrooge is still a very important character in Europe, where comics starring him are being published weekly. My guess is he doesn't get used much by Disney USA because most people don't know him (and) because Disney comics have been virtually dead over there for decades.

Tuomas Holopainen — the keyboardist and main songwriter of NIGHTWISH — has spent most of 2013 writing and producing his solo album based on a graphic novel called "The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck", written and illustrated by Don Rosa.

"Music Inspired By The Life And Times Of Scrooge - Written And Produced By Tuomas Holopainen" is scheduled for a release this spring via Nuclear Blast.

Holopainen comments: "This is my longtime dream come true, 14 years in the making. And a homage to one of the best storytellers of our time.

"Thank you for sharing this celebration of life and adventure!"

This 12-chapter book tells the life story of Scrooge, from his early years in the 19th century Scotland to his adventures all around the world until the 1950s. The story contains such immense depth, detail, wit and emotional power that the moment Tuomas read it nearly 20 years ago, it instantly became a story of profound personal interest and love for him. The initial spark of "coloring" this story with music, i.e. creating a kind of "soundtrack" for the book, came to him already in 1999, and has ever since haunted the back of his mind.

"Music Inspired By The Life And Times Of Scrooge - Written And Produced By Tuomas Holopainen" contains 10 songs, with total duration of approximately 60 minutes. The music is said to be in the soundtrack / classical / folk genre in the vein of Vaughan Williams, Michael Nyman, James Newton Howard and Enya.

Pip Williams did the orchestral arrangements for the "Life And Times Of Scrooge" disc, continuing his collaboration with Tuomas after the NIGHTWISH records "Once", "Dark Passion Play" and "Imaginaerum".

There are a number of guest musicians appearing on "Life And Times Of Scrooge", including the London Orchestra, The Metro Voices (a choir from London) and four lead vocalists: Alan Reid, Johanna Kurkela, Johanna Iivanainen and Tony Kakko. Other guest appearances include Troy Donockley (uilleann pipes, low whistles, bodhran), Mikko Iivanainen (guitars and banjo), Teho Majamäki (didgeridoo), Jon Burr (harmonica) and Dermot Crehan on the solo violin.

The recordings took place during August - October 2013, first at Angel Studios in London, then in various locations around Scotland and Finland.

The author of the book, Don Rosa, did the artwork for the album.

There will be a single release, for the track "A Lifetime Of Adventure", and a music video to go with it.

Holopainen recently spoke to Finland's YLE about "Music Inspired By The Life And Times Of Scrooge - Written And Produced By Tuomas Holopainen". Check out the report below.

Tuomas previously stated about how the idea for the project came about: "It was back in 1999, during the 'Oceanborn' tour, that I remember first having the idea of writing a 'soundtrack' to my all-time favorite piece of Disney comic, 'The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck', by Don Rosa, the apparent heir of the almighty Carl Barks. This book has had such an overwhelming effect on me throughout these years, and finally I have the means and the time to make that dream a reality.

"It all started with a story called 'Last Sled To Dawson', which was published in a Finnish Donald Duck magazine in the late '80s. It instantly became one of my favorite Scrooge/Donald stories and also introduced Mr. Don Rosa to my Disney universe. This story is not part of the actual 'Life And Times' opus, though, but 'a companion story,' set in between the chapters #8 and #9. Then when the massive 12-chapter piece was released in mid-'90s, I was completely and utterly hooked. It was similar to reading 'The Lord Of The Rings' as an 8-year-old, or seeing 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' for the first time. Adventure, fun and the strangely familiar feeling of home.

"With Scrooge, there was also a much deeper level hidden between the stories and the gags.

"This is a book about life itself. What an unfathomable privilege it is, what are the things that truly matter during our existence. It's about the immense beauty of the world and its possibilities seen through the eyes of a very relentless, honest and complex character. It's about love and family, gain and loss, darkness and rebirth.

"And on top of that, well, it's just your good old-fashioned storytelling fun!"

"Music Inspired By The Life And Times Of Scrooge - Written And Produced By Tuomas Holopainen" track listing:

01. Glasgow 1877
02. Into The West
03. Duel & Cloudscapes
04. Dreamtime
05. Cold Heart Of The Klondike
06. The Last Sled
07. Goodbye, Papa
08. To Be Rich
09. A Lifetime Of Adventure
10. Go Slowly Now, Sands Of Time

Bonus track:

11. A Lifetime Of Adventure (Alternate Version)
The Single for "A Lifetime of Adventure" has gotten an early release on the Nightwish Fan App, but there is a low-quality recording of it on the Tumblr page for the singer (she's playing the part of Glittering Goldie, presumably in this track appearing in Scrooge's memories): http://johannakurkela.tumblr.com/post/7 ... enture-the

Rumour has it that he took a break from acting to count all his money again
But yeah, as said, I feel more connected with Scrooge than with Mickey, and it's very sad that there's isn't much from him lately.
Maybe they could a series of shorts kinda like they did to Mickey?

I still think they should do a theatrical release of the Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck while Alan is still able to voice the character. I wouldn't even be opposed to it being a Pixar film.
I find you pompous, judgemental, and completely self-absorbed.........would you be my friend?

Scrooge McDuck is probably my favorite Disney character. And would always love the DuckTales episodes with Flintheart Glomgold (when it's just him and not with the Beagle Boys), arguing over the dumbest things. I could watch it over and over again, even if it was arguing over who got the genie lamp first.

I wish there was a way to bring the character back, and would have love it if he was in the Disney parks more regularly.

Yes, I think Scrooge is my favorite of the Mickey & gang characters, along with Donald. I do like the Kingdom Hearts incarnations of Goofy and Mickey, but that's about it. I wish there was more of the Scrooge character out there right now; I'm surprised they don't even re-run DuckTales on the DisneyJunior channel. It's pretty timeless.
