Yes, I do. There are enough threads on this board for people to express their positive views of disney movies, now they have one where they can express their negative ones. If you have none, or nothing to contribute to this thread, feel free to pass by this one, and not be a part of it. I do not want this thread to start up another bickering... whatever.

Now with that said, the movie that is on my mind currently is Atlantis:The Lost Empire.

I remeber being disappointed with this in theatres, and being able to pick it apart, but I figured, hey, why not give this another chance. I just happened to catch part of this, this weekend on the disney channel, and did not care for it, possibly more than the first time. In addition to it's stupid story that has so many errors, the animation is terrible. I respect new styles and such, and while there were a few scenes that were well done, on a whole the style or whatever, was just not good, or atleast not pleasing to look at in my opinion, and while animation shouldn't be the sole basis of judgement of an animated film; it should still be pleasing to look at.

Here are some things I would just like to know based on the part that I saw, and some of what I remember...

- How is it, the people could speak english, when the concept of the language had not been formed when Atlantis sunk?

- For such an advanced society, how come the people all looked like natives, and how come they had forgotten how to read their own language. Did all their teachers die during the sinking?

- They were obviously a differnt race, but how come they all had white hair and blue eyes, when they were trading with all the other civilizations of the past, did they never croos breed?

- How were they still alive after so many (close to 2,000) years? No crystal woulkd have that kind of power.

Well, it was obvious Disney was going for some new sci-fi theme, and I was really excited about the movie, but comeon. They were also trying to be race friendly, trying to appeal to a larger demographic, kudos for that, but this, in my opinion was just not a good film.

So how about you all, any movies stick out, in a bad way, like a sore thumb for you.

(And MMB, when you said "beware the groove", was that because you didn't like that movie. If it was something else, feel free to not answer. :) )

ok i have questions for you.

-In addition to it's stupid story that has so many errors... ok what errors are these?

-the animation is terrible. I respect new styles and such.... if you do so respect new styles why are you calling atlatis's animation terrible? that's not respect...

- How is it, the people could speak english, when the concept of the language had not been formed when Atlantis sunk?

Milo Did say their language came from a root dialogue where all others language originated that's why they speak more than english if you listen closely when they're greeted by the natives

- For such an advanced society, how come the people all looked like natives, and how come they had forgotten how to read their own language. Did all their teachers die during the sinking?

the Incas were a very advanced culture and they didnt have Gap's latest fashion neither did they local malls to get tommy hilfinger nor Abercrombie and Fitch so they had to make their own clothes :). well if you looked close enough in the beginning not many were in the blue bubble many died. and is proven that many civilazations forget their original language like the old old hebrew that jewish people use to speak it is long forgotten.

- They were obviously a differnt race, but how come they all had white hair and blue eyes, when they were trading with all the other civilizations of the past, did they never croos breed?

by the look of it no. by what the king said he try to use the crystal against other nations to conquer them so i would think they didnt like other civilizations. plus you have to see the maybe the crystal changed their traits.

- How were they still alive after so many (close to 2,000) years? No crystal woulkd have that kind of power.

how do you know? you ever own one? :D plus dont forget adam and eve were supposed to live alot before they sined and became mortals so there could be a crystal with that kind of power if made by God :) plus is also a cartoon.

I never really liked Black Cauldron (too weird, and a little bland-but really like the books) Great Mouse Detective (doesn't really hold my interest) Lion King (sorry-but I don't see what all the fuss is about) and Snow White (there's just something about it...).

YOU DIDN'T LIKE PETER PAN?????!!!!!

Anyone know how I can get an emoticon inserted? I'm trying to do the Peter Pan one, but it turns out like this

:pan:

And the Tinker Bell one looks like this

:tink:

All the emoticons look like a different symbol when I try to use them.

I didn't HATE Great Mouse Detective-I just found it kind of dull. But I do respect the fact that it helped make way for great classics like Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, and I do feel it is a little underrated.

I didn't like Sword in the Stone at all. Didn't care for Atlantis, and it's definitely one of my least favorites. And the two anthology films I've seen - Saludos Amigos and Three Caballeros; they're definitely at the bottom rung of animated classics, quality-wise, but they're not as disappointing as the others, because of their nature. It's kind of tough to compare them to something that sustains one plot for 80-90 minutes.

Well, there's not one animated Disney Classic that I absolutely do not like. However, there area couple that I won't go out of my way to watch again and again:

Robin Hood
The Aristocats
" There's no Dumbass Vaccine " - Jimmy Buffett
