I keep finding reviews on people saying that the HP movies on BR are not worthy and the´re waiting for a Special release on them as well as Collection.
So, the question is: are they worth it or should I wait for a re-release?
Are the current Harry Potter movies worth in BR?

The "Wizard's Collection" box set has everything a Potterhead could need outside of actual magical powers:DC Fan wrote:I keep finding reviews on people saying that the HP movies on BR are not worthy and the´re waiting for a Special release on them as well as Collection.

Or, if you don't need all the gubbins and exclusive bonus disc, each film received an individual "Ultimate Edition" release (7.1 and 7.2 were in one set), which featured the discs in this set and their own small set of gubbins.
The main gripe people have is that only the first two films (by Chris Columbus) are available in both theatrical and extended versions. I believe Alfonso Cuaron (3), Mike Newell (4), and David Yates (5-7) have all stated they have no desire to create extended versions of their films, though a fair amount of deleted footage exists among those six films (not all the deleted scenes are included on the DVDs).

Re: Are the current Harry Potter movies worth in BR?
Thanks.
I´m not a HP fan so I don´t truly care about tons of extras.
What I do care is for the video and audio quality to be good. And, even though I don´t want every extra in the world at least enough to be worth it.
I´m in Spain so the releases here are just the single ones.

So, aside from the Extended versions of the first 2, are these still worth it or should I wait?
Thanks again.

In that case, you're fine with the singles, as they have the film in fine quality and a healthy supply of extras on their own. The UE's add the "Creating the World of Harry Potter" documentary series, along with applicable "HBO First Look" and ITV's "Behind the Magic" documentaries, trailers and tv spots, or UE-exclusive featurettes ("When Harry Left Hogwarts" for example), if those tickle your fancy.DC Fan wrote:What I do care is for the video and audio quality to be good. Yeah, the films are definitely higher quality than their dvd versions.
It's worth noting that the first two look a little aged, but the soundtracks are consistently excellent.

Thanks.
Just bought used the first 6.
Saw them for sale used (although the discs are in perfect condition; don´t have a single finger print on any) at $7 each.

Re: Are the current Harry Potter movies worth in BR?
Guys, I need help.
All the HP movies up until Half-Blood Prince have a static menu. Right?
Well, on my BR Player there´s no way to access the main menu. The movie starts by itself and when I want to go to the Main Menu it doesn´t let me. What it does is take me to the Extras Menu.
This happened to me before with Batman Begins.
I asked a friend that has them. He plays them on his PS3 and told me that by just pressing the square button it takes him to the Main Menu. Or just by going down on the Extras Menu you can access the Main one.
I tried but it just doesn´t work.
So my guess is that it is because of my BR Player (Phillips).
Is there a way for me to access the Main Menu or I just can´t?
Someone that has the same problem?
Thanks

Re: Are the current Harry Potter movies worth in BR?
Assuming these are the old non-ultimate Blu-rays, the movies are programmed to play automatically and the pop-up menu is the main menu. They stopped doing that sometime between Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince.

Re: Are the current Harry Potter movies worth in BR?
Yes they are the first releases.
Still, as said, my friend has the same ones and can access the menu.
So I´m guessing it has to do with the BR player. Even the first BR´s came with inserts that mentioned that certain features couldn´t be accessed depending on the player.
In fact, when I press the main menu button it always take me to the extras menu. There´s no other option.
As far as audio and subtitles are concerned there´s no problem since you can change it at any time. But I do want to be able access the scene selection.
Oh well, when the time comes and I can buy another BR player I´ll know for sure.
Thanks
