Teen Win, Lose or Draw

Post by danielshooley »

In light of its upcoming Disney Channel revival (rechristened Disney Win, Lose or Draw), Im going to give you the Inside Scoop on my absolute favorite game show of all time growing up.

Its name: Teen Win, Lose or Draw.

Teen Win, Lose or Draw was a Disney Channel original Game Show telecast from April 29, 1989 - September 26, 1992.

Hosted by Marc Price, the game had 2 teams, each composed of a celebrity teen guest and 2 civilian teen contestants, compete in a Boys vs. Girls game where each team had to guess certain words, names, and/or phrases by drawing pictures (no letters, unless the letters are part of a word).

Each game began with a Clue Puzzle Round, where the teams had 60 seconds to get as many clues as possible leading up to a well-known subject; this was followed by a Phrase Round, where the teams had 60 seconds or less to communicate a phrase.

Each game ended with a 90-second Speed Round, and the team with the most points at the end of each game won a prize e.g. a Balloon Ride, Konica Cameras, and/or Nintendo NES Games.

In all honesty, I LOVE this show, and watched it EVERY DAY after School as a 7-year-old, before The Disney Channel took it off.

Some of my favorite episodes have included (that Ive seen) the following shows that I either regretfully taped over or the tape wore out years ago.

1. 1989: Celebrities are Alicia Goranson (Roseanne) & Brice Beckham (Mr. Belvedere)
2. 1990: Celebrities are Candace Cameron (Full House) & Brian Green (Beverly Hills 90210)
3. 1990: Celebrities are Tina Yothers (Family Ties) & Alexander Polinsky (Charles in Charge)
4. 1989: Celebrities are Tannis Vallely (Head of the Class) & Josh Saviano (The Wonder Years)
5. 1990: Celebrities are Josie Davis (Charles in Charge) & Scott Weinger (Full House)
6. 1990: Celebrities are Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster) & Leonardo DiCaprio (Growing Pains)

Of those 6 episodes I listed, the only one I own presently is the episode featuring Soleil Moon Frye & a VERY YOUNG Leonardo DiCaprio (then on TVs Growing Pains), and I ripped that from YouTube as soon as Yarnel Nicholas (http://youtube.com/user/videosurferynx) uploaded it. Thanks Yarnel!

Teen Win, Lose or Draw on DVD: Would You Buy It?

Post by danielshooley »

Earlier this afternoon, I wrote on SHOUT! Factory Message Board to Brian Ward, CEO of SHOUT! Factory, suggesting that Teen Win, Lose or Draw be released on DVD next April.

Here is what I said in the letter:

Dear Brian,

I have a proposal for SHOUT! Factory: to make a deal with Buena Vista Television for SHOUT! to release a brand-new DVD Compilation titled The Best of Teen Win, Lose or Draw, a 3-disc collection showcasing 24 episodes (8 per disc) of the hit 1989-1992 TV game show Teen Win, Lose or Draw.

In case you arent familiar with it, Brian: Teen Win, Lose or Draw was a TV game show that aired from April 29, 1989 - September 26, 1992; hosted by Marc Price, each game had 2 teams, each composed of a teen celebrity guest of the era and 2 civilian teen contestants, compete in a Boys vs. Girls game.

The object of the game was for the teams to get certain words, names, & phrases by drawing pictures, no letters or numbers aloud.

Each game began with a Clue Puzzle Round where the teams had 60 seconds to get a series of clues leading up to a well-known subject; this was followed by a Phrase Round, where the teams had 60 seconds or less to communicate a phrase.

Each game ended with a Speed Round where the teams had 90 seconds to communicate as many words as possible; the team with the most points at the end of that round won the game and a prize e.g. a Balloon Ride, while the runners-up also won a prize e.g. a Mountain Bike.

Each episode requested for the DVD shall be shown complete, uncut, & unedited, as originally broadcast on the Disney Channel Television Network.

Tentatively, SHOUT! Factory shall release The Best of Teen Win, Lose or Draw on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 (the day of the 25th anniversary of its debut) at a cost of only $29.99 wherever DVDs are sold.

Teen Win, Lose or Draw DVD: Would You Buy?

Post by danielshooley »

Hi everyone,

Here's a letter on the SHOUT! Factory message board I just wrote to Brian Ward, founder of SHOUT! Factory Home Entertainment, in the suggestion of bringing "Teen Win, Lose or Draw" to DVD.

Dear Brian,

I have a proposal for SHOUT! Factory: to make a deal with Disney's Buena Vista Television for SHOUT! Factory Home Entertainment to release a brand-new DVD compilation titled "Teen Win, Lose or Draw," showcasing 24 episodes (8 per disc on a 3-disc DVD set) of the hit 1989-1992 TV game show "Teen Win, Lose or Draw" complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that the episodes originally aired on the Disney Channel television network.

In case you aren't familiar with it, "Teen Win, Lose or Draw" was a Disney Channel original game show telecast from April 29, 1989 - September 26, 1992 and was created by Jay Wolpert.

Hosted by Marc Price, "Teen Win, Lose or Draw" had 2 teams (each composed of a Teen Celebrity guest of the era and 2 Teen Contestants) compete in a Boys vs. Girls game where the object was to get their teammates to say certain words, names & phrases by drawing pictures, with the team with the most points at the end of each game winning a prize package e.g. Nintendo games & trips.

Each game began with a Clue Puzzle Round where the teams had to get a series of clues leading up to a well-known subject e.g. "Gilligan's Island." This was followed by a Phrase Round, where the teams had 60 seconds to communicate a Phrase from a category e.g. No-Nos at Camp.

Each game ended with a 90-second Speed Round to determine the Prize Package winner.

Here are the 24 episodes I'd LOVE to see on the DVD compilation "Teen Win, Lose or Draw."

1. 1989: Celebrity guests are Lecy Goranson & Brice Beckham
2. 1989: Celebrity guests are Soleil Moon Frye & Brice Beckham
3. 1989: Celebrity guests are Sara Gilbert & Danny Pintauro
4. 1989: Celebrity guests are Allison Smith & Freddy Koehler
5. 1989: Celebrity guests are Allison Smith & Christopher Daniel Barnes
6. 1989: Celebrity guests are Tannis Vallely & Josh Saviano
7. 1989: Celebrity guests are Regina King & Wil Wheaton
8. 1989: Celebrity guests are Candace Cameron & Chad Allen
9. 1989: Celebrity guests are Jamie Luner & Scott Nemes
10. 1989: Celebrity guests are Josie Davis & Jason Hervey
11. 1990: Celebrity guests are Josie Davis & Scott Weinger
12. 1990: Celebrity guests are Candace Cameron & Chris Young
13. 1990: Celebrity guests are Candace Cameron & Brian Austin Green
14. 1990: Celebrity guests are Kellie Martin & Bobby Jacoby
15. 1990: Celebrity guests are Soleil Moon Frye & Leonardo DiCaprio
16. 1990: Celebrity guests are Kellie Martin & Brice Beckham
17. 1990: Celebrity guests are Mayim Bialik & Brice Beckham
18. 1989: Celebrity guests are Mayim Bialik & Danny Ponce
19. 1989: Celebrity guests are Josie Davis & Wil Wheaton
20. 1990: Celebrity guests are Maureen Flannigan & Matthew Newmark
21. 1990: Celebrity guests are Danica McKellar & Matthew Newmark
22. 1990: Celebrity guests are Danica McKellar & Jason Hervey
23. 1990: Celebrity guests are Maureen Flannigan & Jason Hervey
24. 1990: Celebrity guests are Tina Yothers & Alexander Polinsky

Tentatively, SHOUT! Factory Home Entertainment shall release, licensed from Walt Disney Home Entertainment, "Teen Win, Lose or Draw" on DVD on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at a cost of only $19.99 wherever DVDs are sold. PLEASE consider this as a potential release, Brian.

Sincerely,
Danny Hooley

Now my question is this: would you fellow Disney enthusiast buy this proposed DVD?

If so, PLEASE respond here, and thanks.
