The third to last and second last are out of order. It should be the 1997 (or so) version THEN Gold but I nitpick. This hopefully will have grand extras and picture because I already had the third VHS, the Gold DVD and the 40th DVD and it should REALLY be worth it if I'm going to again.

You are absolutely right. I noticed the same thing after I posted it.

As for the blu-ray trailer, I compared the picture information with the DVD. There is more picture info on the sides, top, and bottom. I think the picture still looks too gray, but overall a nice improvement over the previous restoration. No more faces that look like they have muddy make-up on them!

Not sure. It's probably not the final cover design.

I like the cover as well. The single image of her flying is iconic. I love that they used the original marquee lights design for the logo that was used in the original ads and posters..

I think it's kind of boring with all that grey.

I think on the actual cover/slip the 'grey' will be shiny metallic silver - at least, that's what I'm hoping for.

Yes, that's what I've been thinking as well. It will mostly like be metallic and iridescent like so many of the Disney slip covers are.

I agree. I wouldn't even know how to buy the best/most comprehensive release, because it would take forever just to sort through them all at this point. Thankfully, I'm not a hardcore fan of this film, otherwise I'd go crazy. :P

Thanks for giving us "get a unique sneak peek" of an upcoming film Disney! So kind. :|

How about giving us proper supplements - especially on your animated classics, which I have to say your treatment of on Blu-ray is nothing short of appalling.

I think it is such a shame the blu is being wasted for a 'Saving Mr Banks' tie-in. My hopes for a new special feature on the upcoming 'Sleeping Beauty' Diamond that doesn't involve 'Maleficant' have just sunk.

Well, I cant say anything about the restoration, but the colors look better on the trailer. I always thought Mary poppins' reds looked too orange on both my VHS and dvd. The look more red in the trailer for the blu ray.

As far as special features want... dont know what else they could make. I was super satisfied with my 40th anniversary edition

I don't think it's a waste at all. Very strategic, yes, but the film is sure to get a dazzling restoration and extras on the DVD have already been solid. Admittedly, I'd love if all the dvd extras could make the jump though.

And besides, a featurette on Richard Sherman sounds interesting.

I think it makes perfect sense to release it now with Saving Mr Banks coming out. Plus there might be a free movie ticket offer through Disney MovieM Rewards.

It would be so cool if Mary Poppins were re-released in theaters for its 50th anniversary, but I doubt that will happen.

I've heard rumors that there will be a limited re-release of Mary Poppins in theaters. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
I did see it on the big screen a couple of times last year at special classic film events. It had been many years since I'd seen it in a theater as a child. For as many times as I've watched it on home video since, it still took me by surprise at how great it was on the big screen. Amazing. One of the things I noticed was how the painted backgrounds and sets are much more believable when seeing it on a large screen.

I would be so happy to purchase this one, but unfortunately there is no word of a release in Europe.
