Does anyone else find Arendelle's castle boring?
Agreed! She's not bland. She's very sweet, warm, and has some edge.WonderNeverOz wrote:What's wrong with a calm character? she wasn't bland at all, just calm. there is a lot of character development in her. Interesting that we are seeing 2 marshmallows. First one in the clip, he's just snow and branches. This one has Ice all over him instead of branches.
In the japanese trailer they are being chased by the ice version, without the mane and the teeth. In the clip he has the ice mane and the teeth, but his hands are tree branches.

No, I actually love it. It looks like a palace. And I've seen palaces everywhere. Palaces are like grand houses. Not as big as castles. and I think it fits with the small kingdom.Disney Duster wrote:Does anyone else find Arendelle's castle boring?
On another note..
The Art of Frozen is going to be one heck of a book!

Agreed. I think it is a very special castle. I love the fact that almost everything is made out of wood, not like the classic Disney castle made of stone. It evokes the scandinavian feel in a very well done way.taei wrote:No, I actually love it. It looks like a palace. And I've seen palaces everywhere. Palaces are like grand houses. Oh I've seen it plenty of times. I don't hate Cinderella or that movie at all, but if she was made today everyone would say she was bland. And they'd have a point.WonderNeverOz wrote:What's wrong with a calm character? she wasn't bland at all, just calm. there is a lot of character development in her. She's not as boring as Aurora though

Re: Frozen: Part IV
Well, I hadn't even thought of this... But the villain couldn't possibly be Hans because that's the name of the author who wrote the story. Duh. Am I the only one to just make that connection?

Re: Frozen: Part IV
Just realized that Pocahontas had 11 songs and had 2 discs. This defientely gives me more hope that Frozen could get a lot!

Re: Frozen: Part IV
well.. technically.. 4 songs. I don't think Disney counts the chorus songs and the background songs as "songs".disneyprincess11 wrote:Just realized that Pocahontas had 11 songs and had 2 discs. This defientely gives me more hope that Frozen could get a lot!
But... I love the way Pocahontas was done, and it does have the Best Disney score imo. Hunchback got the best musical form. It was perfect (with the exception of that one song)..
I really hope this is where Frozen is headed. Tangled had one of the musical forms I have ever seen in a movie. The songs where out of no where and didn't match with the characters. The voices were ok at best and they just weren't that good. The score was mediocre. So my expectations sky rocketed when I heard a different person was going to write the lyrics and that they had adult undertones.
Also, too many songs isn't always that good. TPATF had way too many songs. And only 2 of them were good. So I guess it just all depends on how well they are linked and how necessary they are.
I expect this movie to be one of the best. Chris Buck directed Tarzan and it is one of the best Disney movies (in my top 10), it dealt with real adult themes and a very good adaptation of the storyline. And most of all, we got a lot of the "I'm gonna do some self reflection" scenes. It was just great. The characters were perfect and the direction was stellar.

And a lot of them are duets, too.disneyprincess11 wrote:Just realized that Pocahontas had 11 songs and had 2 discs. This defientely gives me more hope that Frozen could get a lot!
-Kristoff/ Sven (kinda, sorta)
-Kristoff/ Anna
-Hans/ Anna (speculatory)
-Anna/ Elsa
Just add Kristoff/ Elsa, Elsa/ Hans and Kristoff/ Hans and the circle is complete.

I think we're gonna a Kristoff/Elsa. I don't think we're getting a Kristoff/Anna.
Anna and Elsa will probably have a reprise.
and Anna will probably have a Solo.
Kind of interesting. In the dolls, Anna has a pink crown and Elsa has a blue crown.. could the theory about them both ruling the Kingdom be true?

Re: Frozen: Part IV
Yeah, i kinda agree with you. As much as i enjoy the Tangled score, it is kind of a let down. It was Alan Menken, so I expected MUCH, MUCH bigger. I imagined like Out There for Rapunzel or something as big as That's You Know for the vikings. But, the songs are very small and simple. It took me a good couple of listens to get used to the music of Tangled before really enjoying them. I remember only loving Mother Knows Best on the spot, but was underwhemeled by the rest of the songs, esepecially I See the Light (which i LOVE now).taei wrote:Tangled had one of the musical forms I have ever seen in a movie. I loved PATF on the spot because the music was big and fun like Menken's other works and I could dance to them easily. I still love them, minus Ray's repetitve, short songs.

Frozen's music, so far, sounds HUGE (Let it Go and the "big" opening number) or/and very fun ("In Summer"/Kristoff/Sven), so i should be having no problems with them (unless Santino doesn't sing, that'll be hopefully the only letdown

When something new comes out, and people get excited for it, there seems to be a habit developing on here of bashing what has passed before.
Past Disney heroines or Disney directors, or Disney musical artists are all involved in making some great movies - you don't have to bash them to make Frozen better. It will stand on its own merit; you don't need to detract from other films to justify.
I know opinions are opinions and that's absolutely what this forum is about; just feels like on this board in particular, past Disney efforts are nothing compared to what Frozen 'will be'.
Just wanted people to keep in mind the broad Disney spectrum is all

AMEN!!! Thank you. I've never understood this mentality. Unless someone didn't like what came before to begin with, but you are right that all this new criticism appears out of nowhere from the previous movie (It happens all over the internet though, not just here) every time a new one is introduced to it's genre.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:When something new comes out, and people get excited for it, there seems to be a habit developing on here of bashing what has passed before.

But I just don't have anyone to talk about disney with. So I kinda just say whats on my mind here. This is the only community that accepts the whole "Disney" thing. Everyone around me wants to punch me whenever I mention Disney...

Re: Frozen: Part IV
I found more details about in Summer too! Sounds great!

Now “In Summer”… I seriously have the worst memory ever. I can barely remember the tune of it, much less the lyrics. Mainly because it was such a funny, amusing song, I and everyone else was laughing during most of it. And I have no musical ability, so you do not want to hear my screechy voice attempt to sing or hum what little of the tune I remember. Trust me. The only bit of tune I really remember is the “in summeeeeeer!” part anyways.
I remember the basics of the song and a couple of the lines though… only just vaguely.
Olaf was singing how it would be wonderful to be a snowman in summer. How he’ll get a tan. And have picnics. One point he was like "you’ll be there too!” referring to Anna, Kristoff and Sven, and they were sitting on a picnic blanket near him.
I remember one line where he was like “I’ll get to see what solid water looks like in summer” while floating in water (he may have been in a floatie/inflatable tube).
Then one line was coming up, he said something that would rhyme with “puddle”, then sang like “I’ll be a…” and stopped right over a puddle, was looking at his reflection in the water. The music even paused for a second. But then he just jumped over the puddle and sang “…happy snowman in summerrrrr!”

AHA! HE KNOWS!!!! Thank god.. I didn't want another "Oh no Ray! She's a star!" and then the character running away
