Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Looking forward to it. Missed out on the Platinum as I didn't have a blu player yet. It's the only DAC I'm missing on Blu (from the ones that have been released so far).
Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Just imagine if they had all the previous Platinum special features, and maybe a new documentary (probably about New Fantasyland, as Cinderella and Mermaid have), then could this be the most 'full' Diamond yet ?!

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Will this be the same transfer as the Platinum edition, more or less? Or might we get a "new" and "improved" edition? Hard to imagine a better version than the last Blu-ray release, but maybe they'll change some of the colors or what not...
Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful
Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
If they add some new worthwhile extras, and maybe a new restoration for the movie (though I seriously can't imagine it looking any better than on the Platinum Edition Blu-ray), I'll buy it.

I doubt that it could look any better than it does on the 2008 Blu-Ray.

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
If anynone from the dubbing-department reads this, please, please, please, include the original Dutch dub on the European version.

Was it re-dubbed or did they not release it there at all on BD? Sleeping Beauty hasn't been released on BD on a lot of countries.

They did release it, but with an extremely crappy new dub that sounds nothing like the original.
I posted this in another topic:
Here is the example of Sleeping Beauty. This is the original Dutch dub:

And this is what they did to it in the 90's. Voices that sound nothing like the original and chorus parts that are simply embarrassing. This one clearly was very rushed:

And this is the only one that's on the Blu-Ray disc now. So basically there are 2 Dutch dubs. The first one is just waiting on the shelf somewhere and will probably be lost forever....
When 101 Dalmatians was released, they've put (by accident) the original Dutch dub on there, remastered and all, which sounded terrific, so they do still have them. The whole country is longing for the original Sleeping Beauty dub too. I can't believe they want to block the sales like this?
Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Yeah, I do remember seeing those. Was the original released on a DVD though (in 2003 I guess)? Cause then it can be easily salvagedMarky_198 wrote:Lnds500 wrote:

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
I already have the 2008 blu-ray. Doesn't look like there will be anything new on it.

Nope, unfortunately not, only on VHS.Lnds500 wrote:

Actually, there was a Special Edition DVD released in 2003. I should know, my mom bought it with my money while I was in school on the day it came out.Marky_198 wrote:Nope, unfortunately not, only on VHS.Lnds500 wrote:

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Oh for God's sakes, Disney: Another Blu-ray of a perfect release?! What more can this Blu-ray need?! (next thing you tell me there's going to be a Diamond Edition of Pinocchi- Wait, don't tell me. ...)
This is DisneyFTW1, a former Youtube account that was terminated by Disney themselves. My current Youtube Account is FilmFTW2 (FilmFTW1 was terminated). Youtube sucks when it comes to film uploads, and it sucks even more when major corporations are following your channels. But what can I do?

I don't know about any needs but here are some of my wants...disneyftw1 wrote:Oh for God's sakes, Disney: Another Blu-ray of a perfect release?! What more can this Blu-ray need?! (next thing you tell me there's going to be a Diamond Edition of Pinocchi- Wait, don't tell me. ...)
Trailers from the film's theatrical re-releases in 1970, 1979, and 1986.
An alternate audio track with the isolated score.
An updated featurette about the restoration of the film.
A visual essay about the film's critical reception (the good, the bad, and the ugly of it all) and its re-evaluation throughout the years.
A history about Disney's experiments in widescreen in the 1950s and 1960s (Miracle-Screen, CinemaScope, Technirama, Panavision), as well as the studio's "house ratio" of 1.75:1 for the majority of their features from 1953 onward.
A biographical documentary about Mary Costa while she's still around.
And from previous releases, material that wasn't included on the 2008 Blu-Ray or DVD:
The 2003 DVD audio commentary hosted by Jeff Kurtti and featuring audio extracts from designer/background artist Eyvind Earle, voice actor Mary Costa, supervising animator Ollie Johnston, supervising animator Marc Davis, background artist Frank Armitage, Pocahontas director Mike Gabriel, and Pocahontas art designer Michael Giaimo. It was replaced by a newly-recorded track that featured some, but not all, of the audio extracts.
The docent audio from the virtual galleries on the 2003 DVD.
The 1951 outline with a better presentation than on the 2003 DVD (a narration of on-screen text for nearly 23 minutes).
Helene Stanley's appearance on "The Mickey Mouse Club," which was featured on the 1997 LaserDisc, but none of the DVD or Blu-Ray releases.

Oh bless you Escapay, a boy can dream !
- Disney Exec viewing Escapay's Post - "Hmmmm sure, I can see why I fan could want that. ORRRR we could just put out the SAME Blu/DVD as before but with LESS stuff and a random piece of clipart for the cover. These parents will buy ANYTHING. Boom! Oh yeah, and that is how it's done".
Sounds familiar, no ?

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
I missed out on Sleeping Beauty so this seems like a awesome second chance, though if it's going to be filled with tons of Maleficent tie-things then no thanks Disney. :/
Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
The Maleficant tie-ins are pretty much a given I'm afraid !

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
It's not all that surprising to me that they're releasing SB again before 101 & Aladdin seeing as they did this before in the Platinum line but with a different title.
Either they will release 101 & Aladdin in 2014 as non-diamonds or save them for 2015's spring and fall releases. I'm not sure if Pinocchio will be part of the diamond line or not. What I'm hoping for is a 3D home release of Aladdin, maybe that's what is taking so long for the US.
Since 101 was made using the same process as The Sword in the Stone I hope the restoration isn't screwed up because 101 is one of my favorites.
I also see Hercules, Tarzan, and The Black Cauldron being released next August like this years TSitS, Robin, & Oliver.
I think the package films will be the very last thing they do, which is fine with me just as long as they do them. They will also probably be as 2-film sets (maybe with the exception of Ichabod).

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Not so much the ordering of when the Diamonds are coming, but wondering the choices behind each, and the dropping or adding to the line ?
Do their changes reflect the sales of the Platinums ?
