The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
How has Ariel suddenly grown a fin of whale-sized proportion ?
Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
Ooooo I just clicked the link and saw the sequel covers; I am indeed a fan of those. A marked improvement form the originals.
I do appreciate Disney trying something new and different with coverart, but this one is just silly ....

Maybe Ursula's spell had side effects in the contract we didn't know aboutatlanticaunderthesea wrote:How has Ariel suddenly grown a fin of whale-sized proportion ?

Well it certainly seems to ! Isn't this the same odd perspective we saw on the Sword In The Stone blu release ? I don't understand how they even came up with the plan to feature her fin so prominently. A red head on a Disney cover is pretty much a given to be Ariel, so no need to be like "HERE IS HER FIN JUST IN CASE YOU ALL DIDN'T REALISE".
If they wanted the fin route, something like the Return To The Sea teaser poster, with the two fins silhouetted against the night sky (can't find it from googling at the moment). But I know it was featured on the sticker on the VHS.

What's with the widescreen logo/mark on the spines? Wasn't this last seen in 2001?
TLM:AB's cover is gorgeous (still missing Adella though --weight bias, anyone?

Did you really dislike Ariel's Beginning that much Mooky? Sure it wasn't perfect, but was a solid film I thought.

Hmmm, that is one messed up cover art.
Now I think I've seen everything. Instead of floating heads, we get a floating tail

I had big laugh when I first saw this cover it a shame because if wasn't about this hudge fins it would be very nice , but I think I know what they intended to do . Because the movie is about a mermaid who want's to live on earth they made this to remind that her problem is her fins thats why they put it on perspective , but it's very climbsy .atlanticaunderthesea wrote:It's just such an odd concept .... really have no clue how they thought this one up ?

Sadly yes. I was bored and annoyed throughout. The plot is ridiculous even by children's entertainment standards (Triton banning music? WTH?!?), characters act out of character (Flounder and Sebastian), the songs are horrible, it is filled with inconsistencies in relation to both the original film and the TV show, and Ariel’s mother’s design still creeps the hell out of me (they could have at least given her different hairstyle and hair color). To be fair, animation is exquisite for a DTV project and Marina del Ray is somewhat funny (I spent the entirety of the movie hoping she would turn into Ursula in the end, thoughatlanticaunderthesea wrote:Did you really dislike Ariel's Beginning that much Mooky? TLM:AB was such a missed opportunity to have Ursula as the bitchy nanny. It could have been comic gold and tied in with her being banished at the end of the film. I agree that the animation is it's only saving grace.

I have to agree. The banning music plot was cheesy. For some reason though I preferred The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea over Ariel's Beginning because I didn't find the villain from Ariel's beginning very threatening at all. They could have wrapped things up and explained everything in the 3rd movie. Instead we get a villain who is after SebastianDancingCrab wrote:TLM:AB was such a missed opportunity to have Ursula as the bitchy nanny. I did expect a new restoration better than the 2006 version, but my God... Speechless. Beyond what I've expected. Good thing I sold the Platinum DVD, cause it now looks ugly! Only 2 months away!UmbrellaFish wrote:Direct link to caps!- http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p ... count=1479
This is DisneyFTW1, a former Youtube account that was terminated by Disney themselves. My current Youtube Account is FilmFTW2 (FilmFTW1 was terminated). Youtube sucks when it comes to film uploads, and it sucks even more when major corporations are following your channels. But what can I do?

Ursula's hand looks like a purple chicken.
