Let´s talk The Wild

Post by DC Fan »

Yes, The Wild is not a Disney movie.

Still, it was part of the Classics for a time and still is in Europe.

What are your thoughts on it?

I´ve watched it maybe 2 times. To me the movie is extremely boring, slow and doesn´t have anything going for it.

As generic as Madagascar is at least this one is fun.

I only read an opinion of someone that actually likes it.

What do you think of it?

Honestly, I couldn't get past the bland character designs (but I'm very particular about that kind of thing).

Agreed. For the longest time I thought it was one of those cheap knock-off movies that you find at Walmart, copying Madagascar. When I found out that it actually holds some weight I was like whaaaaaaaaaa

God...

Words can't describe how crappy this movie is. And to think Disney actually MADE this.

At least Mdagascar does a better job of being interesting!

Disney didn't make it, they simply paid to have it made by CORE Animation.

Yup, that's how Disney shot themselves in the foot.

They wanted their cake when they thought they were losing PIXAR, so they paid studios like CORE to make this crap. Now people think Disney made it. In my opinion, they should vault all of the crap they released and distributed from the late 90s to 2006 permanently.

By keeping it out there, it will be hard to recover from those days.

In some places, doesn't it have a numbered spine to make it be one of the Classics ?

Personally, I think it is god - awful.

Awful, awful, awful movie. A little bit better than Chicken Little. But still just terrible.

You can tell that they are trying too hard to be Dreamworks and not really themselves. Same with CL.

Ok, I get Disney wanted to profit on it. That´s fine.

But, why on Earth include it in the Classics? :?

Even on BR!

Here´s the awful proof:

http://www.mubis.es/titulos/salvaje-the-wild-blu-ray

So, I don´t understand how come Disney still makes it part of the line here and doesn´t fix it as it was done in the US.

However, Winnie the Pooh didn´t get released on BR.

Last time I watched it I did it with a friend since I got her the movie to complete her Classics since here in Spain is still numbered as such. I remember how bad it made me feel watching it. Boring, dragging movie.

Oh, come on. Chicken Little was better than this sorry excuse for a film. Heck, even Home on the Range and The Black Cauldron are practically Snow White compared to it. :|

I didn't like Chicken Little because well it felt rather mean for a kid's movie. The Dad was a huge dick to his son and what happens to Foxy Loxy makes me feel extremely comfortable. Respect your opinion though.

I did . . . for what it was. Yes, the character designs were bland and yes it feels like a Madagascar knock off, but it held my interest and made me laugh in a few places. It is no DAC, but certainly not as awful as some other films I've sat through and it was more interesting to me than the DTV sequels.

But I have weird tastes. I actually really liked Brother Bear.

Just watched Madagascar again.

As said before a very average movie. That back then was probably the best Dreamworks could do.

And, as average as it was, in comparison with The Wild this one makes look the later 1,000 times worse than it is.

I know this thread is about The Wild and not Chicken Little, but I've noticed that many of you have accused the latter of being a mean-spirited film. I think I agree, though I try to ignore it when viewing the film. When my older brother (who is much older than me) watched Chicken Little a few years ago he was disgusted. He couldn't fathom how the film-makers could, amongst other things, have certains characters be so cruel. Case in point when the gym teacher tells the class to split into two groups - "popular" versus "unpopular".

I really hope whoever wrote the film's screenplay isn't as much a jerk as some of the film's characters.

Booring. At least Madagascar has a few funny things going on and a distinctive look.

Dunno why this and Dinosaur are considered disney films...

THIS! Not to mention that Madagascar doesn't depend on (literal) toilet humor to stay afloat. Sure, maybe a pop culture reference here and there, but no toilet humor.

I don't mind the toilet humor myself. Previously I loathed it, but now I'm kinda ambivalent towards it.

I will say though the Wild has such boring horrible designs...The characters look like rejects from a My Petting Zoo videogame.
