Those should be the medium-sized plushes. I don't have exact measures, but I went to the Disney Store at the Florida Mall on Saturday, and saw that the smaller ones were 2 for $14, while bigger ones, which should probably be about 1 foot tall, were 2 for $25, and the giant ones were like $50.

That store isn't anything like the one in Times Square though. Since it's in Orlando and WDW is very close, I doubt that it's going to remodeled any time soon. I just have posts like Scaps' to drool over for now.

Looking at these pictures reminds me of the Warner Bros Store from the late 90's-early 00's, which had video centers, play areas, and exclusives similar to that. I can't really remember what the Disney Store from that era was like because I think I was more of a WB fan at the time, so that store must have had a bigger impact on me. I'd really like to check out one of these new Disney Stores, but that probably won't happen for a while.

I might as well just go to Downtown Disney instead. It's only an hour for me, anyway. :P

Yeah, the plushes are about medium size. I have a picture of me holding a Nemo plush with my round holiday Mickey, but I'm too lazy to post it. :P

That's what I was thinking too when in the store. Especially when we played inside the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It was like going in Marvin the Martian's rocket ship all over again. :D

Aww man, I totally remember that. It was so cool to walk into that ship and watch the original "Duck Dodgers in the 24-1/2th Century" short, along with various music videos with the Looneys you could turn on. I really liked that as a kid, and it seems like kids from today can have a similar experience that I did back in my golden days.

Disney store being renovated nearby

Post by bradhig »

The Disney Store at Oak Park Mall in Kansas is being renovated and won't reopen until October. Have other stores been renovated and what do they look like now?

I thought the ones I saw were nice. Some have this cool gold castle thing in them.

I think all the newly renovated Disney Stores look really nice. They each get a cool castle that spreads out over first section of the store, and there's a winding path that goes through the entire store. The intention is to make it feel somewhat like a Disney Park.

I went to the D23 soft opening of the Times Square Disney Store back in November 2010, and really enjoyed what they did with the place. Since then, every trip I've taken to NYC always includes a visit to the Disney Store. Shortly after, two Disney Stores in malls near my hometown got the same remodeling, which simply use the Times Square template on a smaller level, but they're still fun to browse through.

A part of me does miss the early 90's motif with the film strips and the statues (the last Disney store I saw with that design finally closed earlier this year :( ), but these are changing times. The current incarnation of Disney Store today will likely be renovated again in ten years time. Maybe less.

Anyway, as this thread is about the remodeling of Disney stores, I'll merge it with a pre-existing thread about the same thing:

The one in NYC is actually very nice. It allows for a lot of interactive fun while you're shopping. It does give the illusion of resembling one of the parks, what with a Princess castle in it and various ornaments resembling attactions (flying chairs etc).

The old NYC one was better for design and aesthetics. It felt more like a Disney store. The new one tries too hard in attempting "theme park level" and the merchandises is too one sided. There's no variety.
