Re: Saving Mr. Banks
I LOOOOOOOOVE THAT POSTER!!!! I really hope this movie is as grand as the trailer makes it out to be. I think it would be brilliant (and quite realistic to Travers' personality) to have her cry and be moved by the movie and then proceed to tell Walt at the premiere that the animated sequence has to go. It would really bring home what a conflicted and troubled character she was. Maybe have the last shot be her as an old woman sneaking into a movie theatre to watch it again.

For anyone interested in the eccentric yet complex personality that was PL Travers...

"According to Lawson, Travers “deeply resented anyone prying into her personal life” — a challenge to potential biographers. But Lawson also argues that “if Travers had been serious in her wish for privacy, she would have destroyed all her personal letters, all her notes, all the audiotapes made of her lectures, formal and informal, and her collection of photographs. Instead she sold her papers, including private papers, to the Mitchell Library in Sydney.” Travers may have said no, but her paraphernalia said, “Take me, I’m yours.”

I don't like the poster, but I seem to be in the minority. I'm afraid I may be too close to the forest to see the trees.

Re: Saving Mr. Banks
Last Saturday, I bought a Mary Poppins chords/piano book printed in 1965 for seven dollars at a thrift store in my town. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it! How strange I found this item when the release of Saving Mr. Banks in theaters (which I've wanted to see since I first heard about it) is near. My favorite song in Mary Poppins since I was a little girl is "Feed the Birds".

Very nice find! I used to have that book, too (white cover with color scenes from the movie in boxes??).Sky Syndrome wrote:Last Saturday, I bought a Mary Poppins chords/piano book printed in 1965 for seven dollars at a thrift store in my town. Re: Saving Mr. Banks
I think it is a great casting. Now the Academy will have to decide whether to nominate him for this film or "Captain Phillips". Either way it for sure that he is getting a nomination.
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!

Even if I'm looking forward to this movie, I'm still pretty skeptical about whether the company will sugarcoat Walt's portrayal or show him in a realistic light, same going for the story.
Re: Saving Mr. Banks
Chances are looking good he will get nominated for both movies.dvdjunkie wrote:I think it is a great casting. Now the Academy will have to decide whether to nominate him for this film or "Captain Phillips". Either way it for sure that he is getting a nomination.

From what I've read, the movie seems to portray him as a realistic, flawed human being.DisneyJedi wrote:Even if I'm looking forward to this movie, I'm still pretty skeptical about whether the company will sugarcoat Walt's portrayal or show him in a realistic light, same going for the story.

Hey, guys! I got this one from MoviePosterDB, and thought I'd share it with you, fellow Disney fans. I'm so excited for this one and for Frozen! I think these two are going to be the best Disney films of the year!
Tom Hanks is my favorite actor, and the fact that he plays my idol, the man I've been admiring since my childhood, makes him even greater

Tom Hanks is one of the most overrated actors of all time, but I'll be seeing this for Emma and the Mary Poppins nostalgia.

Goodness, you really think so ? Just saw him in Captain Phillips, and he was fantastic in that.Lady Cluck wrote:Tom Hanks is one of the most overrated actors of all time, but I'll be seeing this for Emma and the Mary Poppins nostalgia.

Personally, I think Tom Hanks is a great actor and all praise he's received has been well-deserved. I was very happy when both he and Emma Thompson were cast; both amazing actors.
I have no idea what his politics are?
