Longest running time of a Disney animated movie?

Post by WarriorDreamer »

Animation takes a long time to produce but does anyone know which Disney movie has the longest running time of all? You can include a Pixar movie if a Pixar movie has the longest running time but please include the longest running hand drawn animated movie.

Thank-You.

Well for Disney it is Fantasia (1940 movie) with a running time of 124 minutes. For Pixar, it would actually be the first Cars with 116 minutes.

Thanks! Since Fantasia is in segments I wonder what the longest single storyline movie is, since that would have taken a lot of work to complete!!

I think the longest Disney movie besides Fantasia is Wreck-It Ralph.

Awesome list, thanks! I guess it makes more sense when you understand how long-running Tangled truely was to know why it cost so much to produce.

I don't think that's why Tangled cost so much...

Thanks for the list, Escapay. I'm not surprised to see the most recent films at the top. I have no idea why movies in general are just getting longer. I mean, I'm not against longer times in general, but sometimes it just seems like length for length's sake. For some movies, less is more. I wish somebody would make that the new trend. :/

^ Could it be that the longer film lengths are related to the rise in ticket prices? Seems like current movie audiences are still wanting more bang for their buck. I'm seeing more reasoning like this from friends: "If the film is not pushing 2 hours I don't see why I should pay to see it in theaters."
