In some countries, it really does. Mine isn't one of them, thank God!

I got the US version of Peter Pan delivered to the UK as the UK version was so crap, and it only worked out to be about £3 more than usual! So was very chuffed with that, and have now preordered the US Mermaid DVD/Blu combo, and ordered from the UK the box set of all 3 on Blu.

If anyone is wondering why the Disney Movie Club doesn't yet have the 3D Combo pack available for pre-order is because they will make it the featured title on October 1st. That's what a person from The Disney Movie Club told me when I asked about it.

@atlanticaunderthesea:
I did this as well with Peter Pan, but in general I prefer to buy the German releases, because I'm used to the German dubs and it is very uncommon in Germany to watch foreign films with the original audio track and with (or without) subtitles. So, if I would import all the Disney movies from the US, I could only watch them alone*. I absolutely hate that I have to decide between the best version out there and the version I can also watch with family and friends. If english were my mother tongue though, I would import always the best version.

*Funny story= I couldn't even convince my mother to watch "Inglourious Basterds" with the original track, even though the German track makes absolutely no sense during the bar scene. Since they also only dubbed the English parts, there wouldn't even have been that much of a difference. And, oh my god, Diane Krüger and Christoph Waltz just can't dub. -.-

Sorry for OT. :P

Yes. You have to go to DisneyInternational.com and click on "USA". After that the link won't redirect you to your local Disney-website anymore.

They're lame and not at all memorable!

Thank you for the international link. :)

Do you remember when the Disney websites for a home release were really in-depth and interactive ? Why do they not do that anymore I wonder....

Because they were hard to design, resource-heavy, were based on Flash hence they didn't work on smartphones and tablets. I don't remember any useful info on there either.

They may not have been useful, but some could be quite fun ! But from the reasons you listed, I can see why they were dropped.

I really like the artwork for 'Ariel's story': http://princess.disney.com/ariels-story

Especially the one pic where Ursula is transformed in Vanessa and you see the 'midstage' where we have a Vanessa-Ursula inbetweenthingy.
Also the pic where Eric boat explodes and Ariel watches from the sea is beautiful.

Truth be told, it's very good. The characters are on model as well.

If you try to buy though it redirects you to iTunes and the app "Princess Dress-Up: My Sticker Book" which is anything but the storybook.

I like how the hashtag for the film is 'find your voice'; think that is a really nice touch.

Has the Princess section on here replaced the other website where you could scroll over each Princess and she would introduce herself and say random things?

I am very excited for this release! I cannot wait to watch it in 3D as well and have a family night. :D

Who else is excited about this release as well? :?

I am thinking of ordering it on the Disney Movie Rewards site as well for the extra goodies. :)

My excitement for the film is a bit more mellow than yours, lol. I haven't seen it since 2011 or so, after I rode the attraction at Disney's California Adventure. So even though it's a childhood relic, it'll feel like (hopefully) an entirely new experience.

Also, BBFC posted classifications for some VAM earlier this week. For those interested, I've bolded the new material. Most of the Platinum features are carried over.

http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/little-m ... s-features

00:04:45:00 (PART OF HER WORLD: JODI BENSON'S VOYAGE TO NEW FANTASYLAND)
00:16:27:00 HOWARD'S LECTURE

00:02:30:00 ("FATHOM'S BELOW" ALTERNATE VERSION)
00:06:53:00 (FIGHT WITH URSULA / ALTERNATE ENDING)

"Howard's Lecture" is semi-new. A similarly-titled feature was included among the supplements for Waking Sleeping Beauty, but ran 12:33. I'm assuming we're going to get the same feature, with additional material (an introduction, maybe?). The New Fantasyland feature probably will be in the same vein as Ginnifer Goodwin's promotional piece from Cinderella.

01:22:46:00 THE LITTLE MERMAID (AUDIO COMMENTARY BY DIRECTORS/WRITERS RON CLEMENTS AND JOHN MUSKER AND COMPOSER ALAN MENKEN)
00:03:30:00 ASHLEY TISDALE "KISS THE GIRL"
00:00:33:00 (THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL - INTRODUCTION)
00:06:39:00 THE LITTLE MATCHGIRL

01:22:46:00 THE LITTLE MERMAID (FILM WITH LYRICS)
00:10:29:00 (DISNEY SONG SELECTION - "PART OF YOUR WORLD" "UNDER THE SEA" "LES POISSONS" "KISS THE GIRL")

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that a "making-of" would be included for the music video, but that likely may just be something for YouTube rather than the Blu-Ray.

I'm hoping that the Treasures Untold documentary is actually presented in proper 16:9 rather than the 4:3 letterbox that appeared on the DVD.

Missing from the Platinum are the "Ride with the Imagineers" option for the Under the Sea Adventure (5:15), the art galleries (380 stills), and superfluous previews for Disc Two (0:44) and The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning (0:59), along with the then-contemporary sneak peeks circa 2006.

I wish there was more of a feature on New Fantasyland, and the ride. Would have been happy if they'd have removed the original ride concept bonus, and added all the Disney-produced YouTube videos on the making of the ride.

What are they? :?

I'm more excited for the merchandise coming with the re-release, although I'm looking forward to the new restoration and the first time on Blu-Ray, too. :D
00:02:05:00 (DELETED CHARACTER - HAROLD THE MERMAN)
I already knew about this character, but it'll be interesting to hear an actual feature about him on a release for once. I wonder if the polyp that grabs Ariel's hand as she enters Ursula's lair was supposed to be Harold in earlier versions? Harold actually reminds me of the plot they had in mind for Louis in The Princess and the Frog; although I'm glad Harold was cut instead of kept solely as comic relief with the interesting plot excised, like in Louis' case. Many of the Musker/Clements villains have similarities, but I still see Ursula as their best.

Care to expand? I've never heard of Harold, I first assumed he was some early progenitor of Urchin from the TV series but that seems to not be the case.
