I downloaded it yesterday, but I won't read it until I watch the film.

Daniel Huttlestone, Gavorche from last year's "Les Mis," is in talks to play Jack.

http://broadwayworld.com/article/Les-Mi ... S-20130621

I'm not crazy about this choice. I wanted a slightly older, American Jack. An unknown, at that. But we'll see...

Confirmed/uncomfirmed cast list thus far:
Meryl Streep...The Witch
James Corden...The Baker
Emily Blunt...The Baker's Wife
Johnny Depp...The Wolf
Chris Pine...A Prince
Jake Gyllenhaal...A Prince
Tracey Ullman...Jack's Mother
Daniel Huttlestone...Jack

So the biggest parts yet to be filled are Cinderella and Little Red. You also have the Mysterious Man, Red's Granny, the Giant's Wife, and Cindy's stepfamily.

I would rather he was a teenager for the certain, "and she holds me close to her giant breast" and such but at least he won't be too old and is a good age for how the character would truly be.

And it's good he's British because Jack in the Beanstalk is the only British fairy tale, the rest are the German Grimm's fairy tales.

It's not like they're going to cast Cinderella as a German. And the Baker and his wife are American creations, but they've already been cast with Brits. I don't think origin of creation is what they're going for in casting, here.

You're right, then it doesn't matter what the actors' origins or accents are. So I don't see why you have a problem then.

I would have preferred an American Jack, is all. It seemed weird that you would try to justify the casting based on origin when obviously it hasn't mattered in any part of the casting.

Anna Kendrick in talks for Cinderella
http://m.hollywoodreporter.com/news/ann ... lla-573423

I'm not really familiar with her work-- except that she does a lot of musicals, but people have been dream casting her like crazy, so I guess she's a good choice. Hollywood Reporter also mentions Christine Baranski.

Confirmed/uncomfirmed cast list thus far:
Meryl Streep...The Witch
James Corden...The Baker
Emily Blunt...The Baker's Wife
Johnny Depp...The Wolf
Chris Pine...Cinderella's Prince
Jake Gyllenhaal...Rapunzel's Prince
Tracey Ullman...Jack's Mother
Daniel Huttlestone...Jack
Anna Kendrick...Cinderella
Christine Baranski...Cinderella's Stepmother (?)

So the biggest part yet to be filled is Little Red. You also have the Mysterious Man, Red's Granny, the Giant's Wife, Rapunzel, and Cindy's stepsisters.

Just so you know, you're using the term "literally" wrong. Literally means that you would actually be being killed by this news. Unfortunately, I can't put my finger on the right words to say what you really want to say. :/ I'm not trying to be a grammar nazi I'm just trying to help.

I never pegged Disney Duster to be a Ted Mosby.
  • Robin: I literally want to rip your head off!
    Ted: You mean figuratively!
Robin: No, I literally mean, literally. Literally, literally, literally— OH MY GOD LILY, WHAT ARE YOU EATING, GRAVEL?
Marshall: I know right? It sounds like cuff links going up a vacuum cleaner.
Lily: Then why don’t you sing about it?
Marshall: [singing] Because I don’t sing about everything I doooo!
Robin: NO! No, sometimes you just sing nonsense sentences like a stroke victim. And what’s worse, they’re catchy. [singing] Apple orchard—
All: [singing] Banana cat dance, eight six six three!

When I saw Daniel Huttlestone linked with the role of Jack, I was thinking he was a tad young since I always imagined Jack to be in his early teens...then I looked him and found out he's 13 going on 14. Wow. I thought he was 10. You know who I would've liked to have seen in the role? Ed Sanders aka Toby from Sweeney Todd (who, funnily enough, is 20. Man, I really let Hollywood influence the way I see kids, don't I?).

And I really like the choice of Anna Kendrick as Cinderella. She can act, sing, and looks good for the part. It'll be interesting to see her playing meek and reserved (at least at first) since she's known for playing more feisty, snappy characters. Let's see who they get for Rapunzel and Red. If Jack is any indication, it seems they're going to go with a more story-accurate age for Red than usual.

That would have been excellent casting. And he held some pretty long notes in Sweeney Todd.

Camp!! She plays both sides of the spectrum wonderfully. Especially with her third line...

'Just so you know' it was obviously an exaggeration to express my surprise. Wow, talk about a buzzkill

Sorry DisneyDude.

I, too, am really excited to have Anna Kendrick. She can sing really well and seems to be able to act really well.

And yes, I'm very excited we will have a more age appropriate Jack and probably Little Red.

I read some of the script, but as I did I realized a lot of visuals, added scenes and such would be spoiled for me so I will wait till after I see the movie to read the whole thing. Did everyone who read it like it though? It sounded good from what I heard.

So I wanted to say two things. First, does anyone wonder about the one flaw in the show, that the Baker was only a baby (described as "no more than a babe", which maybe could mean two at the oldest) when his sister Rapunzel was born, so they should technically be the same age, but Rapunzel is a lot younger than him? And if they tried to correct that, they would have to say the Baker was at least in his tweens or teens at that time to be the older age he is in the show, but then he would know the true fate of his parents and wouldn't think they died in a "baking accident". Do think they can fix that? Does this new script fix any of that? It could be fixed by making Rapunzel and the Baker both be around 25, but that doesn't seem to fit their situations, you know?

The second thing is I'm rather upset to learn that apparently, according to the new script, Rapunzel doesn't die. This was supposed to be the whole reason behind the Witch singing "Children will listen" and I feel it's slightly ruined. Anyone else feel this way?.

Oh dear casting gods....WHY?!?!
According to a new post on Twitter, it appears as though the forthcoming feature film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's celebrated fairy tale-themed musical INTO THE WOODS has found its Little Red Riding Hood - none other than internet sensation Sophia Grace.

Lucas Brownlee, Sophia Grace (Brownlee)'s father, writes, "Its official, @PrincessSGB (Sophia Grace brownlee) has landed the part of little red riding hood in the disney movie in to the wood,"

He also writes, "Alongside jonny depp, james corden, chris pine and meryl streep amongst others, out on boxing day 2014,"
