This has not been Don's year, has it?
And hey, it's the annual appearance of that neighbor kid! Do you think he's over Betty yet?

It's just Matthew Weiner desperately squeezing his son into the script. It's a good thing Kiernan Shipka is so good, because he knows how to suck the life out of a scene.Avaitor wrote:This has not been Don's year, has it?

So Bob Benson becomes weirder each episode. I think he'll be a key player in Don's inevitable downfall next season.

I loved the season finale. Sally's look to Don when he showed them the house he grew up in was sad. And kind of touching. Unlike previous seasons and in spite of Don's continuing decline towards rock bottom, it feels like this ending showed us there is hope yet for him. And for Sally and Betty.
Megan? Not so much.

Re: Mad Men!!!
Yeah, I don't see Don and Megan staying together by the series finale. Even if the Sharon Tate theory that fans have been pulling out doesn't happen (and odds are likely that they won't), I can see a divorce coming soon.
As awful of a human being as Don can be, it still becomes hard to see his downfall at times, so the scene at the end gave me a little hope that maybe things will turn out okay for him after all. But it's Matt Weiner, so who knows?

Oh Robert Morse, what a performer.
And after a rocky 'where is this going?' kind of start, this season is shaping up quite well. Having the main focus on completely on Don and Peggy feels just right.

I think this is an improvement over the previous season. Stuff actually happened, and continued to happen throughout.
I love how Cutler just sides with everyone at the end, cause, y'no, money.
And it's great that no one gives a fuck about Harry.

Maybe it's because we're halfway through the season that I find it difficult to judge how it stands up to previous years. But in general I would say it's an improvement over last season for sure. I don't even remember most of it except the finale.
And yes, Cutler is probably the biggest a-hole on this show yet. Roger's response to him siding with the others at the end was priceless. Ted kind of redeemed himself for me though. I hated him last season for how he treated Peggy, but I gained some respect for him after that stunt in the plane. That's Don Draper's style of doing business.
All in all, I'm more than ever puzzled about where this is all going. So that's good. Are they setting up Don/Peggy after all? A few years ago I would have been against it, but as out of place as it would be... can't argue with that chemistry.
Elisabeth Moss is also nailing it big time this season. That scene with the neighbor boy? She's the show's beating heart.
