Disney's Good Luck, Charlie to Say Goodbye
http://tv.yahoo.com/news/disneys-good-l ... 54800.html
Disney Channel announced on Tuesday that Good Luck, Charlie will bid the airwaves goodbye after this, its fourth season.

A statement from the cabler to our sister site Deadline reads: “It’s been our great pleasure to work with the extraordinary producers Phil Baker, Drew Vaupen and Dan Staley and the writers and crew of Good Luck Charlie. We could not have dreamt of a better cast than Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bradley Steven Perry, Mia Talerico and Eric Allan Kramer (and even little Logan Moreau as Baby Toby!) and the many guest stars who make the series so special…. We look forward to the big finale episode the creative team is planning.”

In its wake, GLC leaves, among other things, the budding pop career of series lead Mendler, whose first singles, “Hurricane” and “Ready or Not,” debuted at No. 103 and No. 98 on the Billboard chart. The 20-year-old is set to launch her first tour this summer, starting next week.

New episodes are set to unspool through early 2014, bringing the series’ run to the neighborhood of Mrs. Dabney 100 episodes.

I think we kind of knew this was going to happen, Bridgit Mendler herself said a while back that to her best knowledge this was going to be the last season.

Probably to make room for Girl Meets World, right?

It's a live-action kids show. They rarely last longer than 4 seasons, unless they get seriously revamped, ala Suite Life.

Exclusive: Disney Channel Breaks New Ground with Good Luck Charlie Episode
In a first for the Disney Channel, next season an episode of Good Luck Charlie will feature a family with two moms.

Producers are currently casting the couple, with production set for next week. The episode will air in early 2014 as part of Good Luck Charlie's final season. Because Good Luck Charlie is coming to a close, the characters are only expected to appear in this one episode.

In the storyline, parents Amy and Bob Duncan (Leigh-Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer) set up a playdate for preschooler Charlie (Mia Talerico) and one of her new friends. When the kid arrives, the Duncans learn that Charlie's pal has two moms. That's fine, but the potential new friendship is put to the test as one mom chats with Amy, and the other is stuck listening to Bob's dull stories.

The playdate is actually the secondary story in the episode, as much of the action will center on Teddy (Bridgit Mendler) and her best friend Ivy, as Ivy prepares to head off to college.

But Disney Channel understands the groundbreaking nature of featuring a same-sex couple on one of its sitcoms and took extra care in crafting the episode. "This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors," a Disney Channel spokesperson says. "Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness."

Disney Channel already tested the waters last year with its on-air social outreach campaign "Make Your Mark." In one segment, a teen with two moms was featured, a move that was called a "big step forward" by GLAAD.

Things went so bad to China that she (and her sisters) were even fired from Hollywood Records rotfl
She is a talented singer, but I kinda hate the show.

Now that is needed is to put on some quality shows that actually entertains both adults and kids. Live action or animation I just want some shows that won't insult my intelligence.

WHOA! :o Actually, they "left", but what happened?!?! They had great careers.

And I agree, jazz! The concept of the shows aren't bad, it's just that the writing is HORRENDOUS! Even Joe Jonas admitted that! :P If they had new writers that are good and treated their viewers seriously, they would be great.

I'm really neutral because I haven't paid attention to the content in Disney Channel Shows for a while, though I do have a way to start watching the beginning of Gravity Falls, but I won't speak how.

I'll be sad to see this go. One of the only Disney shows I have actually enjoyed. This was relatively well written (for a kids TV show) and interesting enough that the whole family could watch it.

Stuff on the channel now is really poor and usually about some kid or another trying to be a musician. At least Good Luck Charlie had an air of freshness to it.
Settling Soul mates? That is grim. And I've played Monopoly alone.

At least, we have Girl Meets World coming up this year. That's sure to be closer in tone to Good Luck Charlie than ANT Farm. And it would be really dumb if they just made Corey and Topanga minor characters.

^Gotta be honest, I saw the picture in that article and thought the "romantic ground" was that Jessie was coming out of the closet. :P

Still, exciting news for a show I sporadically watch.

Same here.

A straight girl marries a straight guy, big whoop. I don't watch Disney channel that much so I had no idea it was a first.
