Guys,

Do you think Disney will finally release RETURN TO OZ on BR?

I watched the movie not so long ago and I was impressed by how good it was and that the FX and the story hold up like a recent fantasy movie.

I'm actually surprised that Disney didn't re-release Return To Oz as a tie-in to Oz The Great & Powerful

Looks awesome. So, how come Disney managed to get this picture perfect quality on BR for each release and on DVD the ones that weren´t Platinum or Special Editions had an average (VHS) quality?
1) "The Fox and the Hound" actually has one of the more problematic transfers, in my opinion. Keeping whatever your thoughts about DNR out of the debate, there's some sort of... line running up and down the side of the movie. It's also got more dust and dirt artifacts that most of their releases (except maybe "The Great Mouse Detective"). It doesn't look BAD, but it could surely look better.

2) Several films on Blu-ray received new hi-def transfers (or used existing ones). Many DVD releases that weren't Platinum releases just got transfers ported over from laserdisc due mostly to similar resolutions and Disney not wanting to invest more money in creating new transfers.

For what it's worth to anyone (I know I'm excited) ..HERCULES is now on Netflix in HD. A nice anamorphic tide over till a blu-ray comes along.

They've also added a bunch of their animated shorts on there now like The Wind in the Willows, Mickey and the Beanstalk etc.

Yeah, I hope we get a new cover or at least a better recycled one.

It's odd that everyone one else is getting a Mermaid trilogy box set except North America.

After all that fuss and wait, and the millions of covers that Hercules has had over the years .... they use this, the worst one ?! Typical Disney, totally typical.

Wow, that puts Netflix at 11 DACs available. Pretty awesome. I hope they keep adding to it. Interesting they put it up so early though, as that will surely slow blu-ray sales.

Watched Return to Oz for the first time and actually... I really liked it !

I thought that it was going to be terrible since most fans and Oz fans like to pretend that it doesn't exist, but it was actually really fantastic. It was quite dark so maybe that's maybe why it pushes people away ? The original was so so " skipping over rainbows " and this is " a headless queen is chasing after Dorothy who wants her head "

Most people beforehand warned me about the Wheeler's saying that they were quite Nightmare-Fuelish so I imagined these huge scary looking trolley like monsters with demon like faces but they weren't actually that... scary ? They weren't pleasant and they did have creepy masks and the jump scare when they arrive is quite chilling, but they're quickly announced to be human goons just with wheels so it sort of killed the horror mood.

They should really, really, really put it on Blu- Ray. But they won't.

The Nightmare Before Christmas 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray (I kinda wonder if Disney was going to release this again to celebrate the film's 20th birthday, not that I don't mind):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/Burton ... B00D9RQO56

If this is going to have something that's worth the upgrade, then I'll buy it.

It's seems odd that they would recycle artwork made for the sequel to use for the original. :eyebrow:
