Just out of curiosity, does anyone have (even an incomplete) list of the DVDs that Disney released in chronological order?
I ordered myself one of those 1998 Masterpiece Collection discs of Mary Poppins - as far as I know, the ONLY Masterpiece Collection to make it onto a DVD (and they screwed up the audio for the Masterpiece Collection bumper!)
I know most of the Limited Issue and Gold Classic Collection releases have a "boring gold" bumper (e.g. Walt Disney Home Video on a black screen with really dull music), but I would be interested in seeing if any of the early releases (like, before 2000) have something different.
Disney's official site has an A-to-Z list, but that doesn't help for this purpose - and it seems like nobody wants to even acknowledge that a 1998 release of Mary Poppins exists, not even UD (the list of movies mentions the 40th Anniversary, 45th Anniversary, and a small mention of the Gold Classic Collection release, that's it)

Thanks, that's somewhat helpful - sadly most of the DACs are useless in terms of rare video clips.
I had read that the Masterpiece Collection DVD of Mary Poppins was their first DVD release, but according to www.dvdloc8.com there were a few before it.
I managed to find Tron and The Rocketeer from my university's library as well, that old copy of Tron is so hilariously bad, but yet I want to own a copy just to say I have it

Anyway, Disney's first wave of DVD releases was in late 1997. The monthly waves that followed usually mixed together Disney's titles with their other studios: Touchstone, Miramax, Dimension, and Hollywood Pictures (none of those are included here). Disney would also licence a majority of their second-tier live-action titles to Anchor Bay, primarily from the post-Walt 1967-1985 era, although Disney inadvertently licenced out The Great Locomotive Chase (1956), Big Red (1962), and both versions of The Happiest Millionaire (1967) to the studio as well. Disney opted to not renew Anchor Bay's licence (especially after all the problems with The Watcher in the Woods), and began to re-issue the Anchor Bay films under their own label in 2004.
All release dates come from either Film Aficionado or the news archives of The Digital Bits.

I just won an auction for that Animated Anthology, which should prove to be useful for some films such as The Jungle Book (cropped in later releases), The Little Mermaid (censored in later releases) etc.
Interesting how Mary Poppins was actually their fourth DVD release, but yet the only one to bear the Masterpiece Collection logo and bumper.
Shame Inspector Gadget was never re-issued with an anamorphic transfer... I had to import a region 2 DVD to get a proper copy of that. So, I own The Santa Clause and my friend has Return to Oz, both of those have the black "Ring" bumper, am I correct in assuming the black one came first and then they changed it to blue for their newer DVDs? I've heard the reverse, since 2000s VHS tapes have the blue variation, so I'm actually not sure.
