Guys, we all know that The Little Mermaid was redubbed in most countries on it's second release in 1997. Not talking about the quality of the dubs, but I heard that for the Bluray release in Germany they will include both German dubs, the 1989 and 1997 versions.

Does anyone here know if this will happen in all countries the movie was redubbed? I really hope they do...

Probably not. It will happen because of the fan uproar in Germany but I guess they had to reach a settlement with the person who sued them or whatever in the first place to get this on the Blu-ray. They won't do the same for all the other countries. Germany is a huge market and it made sense.

As much as I love the platinum edition's restoration, this new restoration job amplifies it by a million!

It's hard for me to tell a huge difference (I wish there were pictures of Triton and Ursula, just to see what the yellows of his crown/etc. looks like), but the "Part of That World" scene does look much better.

Colors look great and backgrounds look wonderful. I bet once we see it on BD it will feel like it's all new. Haven't been this excited about a restoration since Sleeping Beauty.

Question: the audio seems to have been changed, noticeably in the Scuttle clip where you can hear the waves breaking when they never did before. Is listening to the original mix going to be a problem on the BD?

OMG it looks absolutely stunning!

And it is most DEFINITELY based off of the 1989 colors. I have watched each of the film's releases on VHS, DVD, LaserDisc a gazillion times, and from the first second I saw the clips, it was like seeing the 1990 LaserDisc only in HD and in stunning clarity. I'm so happy right now!!!
