And yes, I did tell you what you should do. I believe it is not only a right but a duty for all of us to participate in the political process. Otherwise we get the leaders we deserve.

Okay, back to what I really want to say: We do get the leaders we deserve if we ignore politics. I firmly believe everyone should execute their right to vote. I myself have voted in every election since I was 18 and work at precient sites on election for three elections running...at the last two elections I was in charge of talking the voted ballots to city hall for my precient and had 20 others that I was in charge of...I wish more people would help out and work too, it's a wonderful experience!

Three comments

1) Yes I can tell you what to do(to be perfectly honest I was suggesting(should not must). But you have every right to take that advice to heart or to ignore it. From your writing style, you are probably a teenager. I know every single one of us that is past that stage remembers the part of our life where we thought we knew it all and nobody had any knowledge or experience to impart to us. I spent about years 13-25 in that phase so I know where you come from. However, now I am 37 with kids and realize I haven't figured a thing out. Must be some kind of regression I am going through, because I am certain I had life all figured out at what point. Wow - race relations, politics and philosophy in the same thread. This is getting pretty deep.

2) You totally misunderstand the purpose of this board. It covers everything not to do with Disney, including sensitive topics like politics and religeon. If you wish to avoid those topics, avoid this board and stick to the other boards.

3) We all need to do more than pay attention to politics. We need to get involved(this does not mean having to join a party). Otherwise, you can end up with only two choices neither of which is appealing.

That is rediculous. Rarely is there a thread (with 10 or more posts on it) that sticks to the exact topic by the end of it in any forum. More-so in the Off-Topic forum. But since you are fairly new here it will take some time to learn that.

That miniscule diatribe posted above was the first mention of politics in this thread, so you started it, not UncleRemus.

But I will move towards (though not take) PrinceAli's side in this:

Asian bootlegs are a problem on eBay. That shouldn't be misconstrued as having anything to do with Asian people, Asian countries, or Asian nationalities/races. I don't know what PrinceAli meant in his comments, and I'm not about to defend anything he types, but I will say that the fact that a problem with bootleg DVDs marked as coming from Asia exists on eBay is undeniable. Are they really from Asia? Who knows. But the majority (thought not all) of DVDs labeled as coming from Asia that you come across on eBay bear the tell-tale signs of bootlegs. It is such a problem, in fact, that I avoid buying DVDs on eBay from sellers in Asia. That's not to say that they are always going to be bootlegs, but the risk is too great, given that the majority are, to take when there's money involved. Why bother? There are plenty of other sellers on eBay. I don't see that as being racist in the slightest. It's just common sense. I only wish personal attacks could be avoided by immature members (cough cough, Prince Ali) so that constructive dialogue could move forward.

DisneyGirl, it's sad that you were sucked into a nasty discussion like this so early on in your UD tenure. In your Disney Story post, you mentioned that you had seen a few lively debates and one nasty argument. Sadly, those do creep up now and again. However, they are in fact very rare. (That's why we have the Controversial Topic Of The Year award - we've had some real contenders lately). I think that the recent negative tone that has taken hostage a few of the threads here is due in large part (though not entirely, as a few incidents can't be blamed on this) to the sudden influx of new and returning (and departing-then-returning) members here. New members are great, but when they are accompanied by the return of parasites like Prince Ali and Bill, as well as exceedingly post-happy not-so-newbies, it results in a little tension. And then there's TVGuardian, which was just a fluke. I do wish some of this would clear up, though.

For all we know Luke is a 83 year old woman named Getrude, Prince Ali may be a mere Duke and I may be a wad of hamburger meat.

While Bowling for Columbine was roasted for factual errors, Farenheit 9/11 has not been. In fact Moore's experience with Columbine led him to hire independent editors and fact checkers to go through the documentary for such errors. To my knowledge not a single one has been found in his current movie.

From what I've been told, this is due to his deciding not to bother with facts at all in the new movie, and skip straight to hysteria. (Admittedly, I haven't yet seen it).

Also, I don't think it's quite fair to somehow suggest ideological leverage over DisneyGirl due merely to her age. (Actually, I think she's more in her early or mid twenties than teens- and if she's voted in multiple elections, she almost has to be- correct me if I'm wrong, DisneyGirl). I understand your feeling that you possess a bigger heaping of wisdom than some of the younger members. It's undeniable that you do. Wisdom, generally speaking, comes with age (though there are some youngsters blessed with wisdom and some geezers woefully devoid of it). However, I don't really think that DisneyGirl was asserting that she "knows it all," or even advancing that attitude. She just disagrees, and objected to your comments. Now, I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but there's nothing wrong with that, it happens here all the time. Age shouldn't matter, intellectual prowess should. That is to say, if a member here can offer valuable insight and analysis to the community, then they should be accepted as an equal among peers, even if they aren't neccessarily peers in age. So far, it seems as though DisneyGirl has been able to do that. I would hate to think that the opinions of myself or others here is valued any less or ridiculed due to age.

Well I don't need any defending anyway, thank you. But I would like to point out that basically what I was saying was there is a major problem in Asia with bootlegs. And yes, Asian dvds do come from Asia I believe. I never said there was no problem in the US, never said there was no Asian dvd that isn't a bootleg...just people trying to get on my back. Anyway, of course there is more of a problem with it on e-bay, because I think the bootleggers know it is harder to sell a bootleg dvd to someone who gets to see it for themselves before they buy it...

I have yet to know what personal attacks I made on anyone in this thread. Oh yes, and the cough coughing sounds real mature from someone who claims to be above all and mature. This forum shouldn't be treated as a hierarchy at all. I look at each post with the same respect (yes, even MMB's) and then make my response. I'm a Catholic and I believe that killing an unborn child is wrong. I believe life doesnt start at birth but when a women become pregnant with her child. It is sad to hear that a child is killed before he/she is even born. That's why I don't like John Kerry

I didn't take anything as being cowardly, I'm charging your post with cowardice. There's no interpretation there. Throwing in a random political statement that didn't at all relate to the topic at hand in no way stabilizes anything.
