I complained for characters that should be on the line but aren´t.

However, how many princesses does Disney needs?

We have to remember that soon we´ll have the one from Frozen as well.

So sad that Disney is willing to take this franchise and keep on stretching it like a bubblegum and, as we talked before, boys have to stick with Cars/Planes and Marvel.

...heck, if they don´t want to do the Heroe´s line I´d take a Sidekick one.

And adults get even less and less from the Villains´line.

Disney responds to the controversy:
Disney responded to an interview request with an emailed statement from Disney Consumer Products that said, "Merida exemplifies what it means to be a Disney Princess through being brave, passionate, and confident and she remains the same strong and determined Merida from the movie whose inner qualities have inspired moms and daughters around the world."

Meh. I was just as annoyed as anyone else when this whole Merida princess deal came out, but all the parent outrage is a bit much.

REMEMBER at the end of the movie, she learned to understand her mother a little bit more. So maybe she's gotten better at acting the part of a princess (heck, she'll even put on some make-up from time to time and wear a princess dress). Does that mean she still doesn't get up to all her crazy shenanigans? Prolly not.

At least, that's how I'd explain it to my kid (if I had one).

I think that it was announced that Elsa will join too. And I think Anna and Elsa will be the last ones for a while because it sounds like Frozen will be the last fairy tale for a while. Unless the Rumpelstiltskin movie is actually true.

I suppose it depends on how Frozen performs but currently there are more fairytales in development at WDAS. And before you ask me how I know that...

A lot has happened though. I hope that they would give out hints. :| I'm starting to think that Rumpelstiltskin is true because that's the closest thing we have gotten.

Plus, it looks like that it's true

As many as it can lead to making money, of course! Typical Business strategy!
So sad that Disney is willing to take this franchise and keep on stretching it like a bubblegum and, as we talked before, boys have to stick with Cars/Planes and Marvel.
Well, I got no complaints about that. I'd be fine with Cars/Planes and Marvel (obviously the better of the 2) if I were a kid right now.
And adults get even less and less from the Villains´line.
God, do I miss the good ol' days when Disney made the best villains that can be likeable for what they do.

From Super Aurora:
Who the fuck is the girl in the middle with green dress and red hair?
The hell are you doing, Poison Ivy? Wrong franchise, silly naughty girl!
Also Merida look old with line creaks on her.
This is one of those reasons why I hate seeing, at times, misrepresentations of cartoon-to-live-action performers and look-alikes. (which begs the question: how could fan cosplayers look better than professionals?)
Full Coronation:
Wow, less interesting than the Twilight Sparkle Coronation. SNAP.

The girl in the green dress is Debby Ryan, the celebrity guest for the event.

Googled her, and she's known in some of the Disney Channel shows... WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO BE IN THE MIDDLE?! You stay at the end of each side! Not fair for a Disney channel celebrity to be in the middle of the Disney legacy! (sorry, nothing personal, just... my childhood)

She is just taping a "Disney 365" segment to inform people about this event on Disney Channel.

If you watch the video I posted before, she doesn't appear in the ceremony.

Well, I have only seen bits and segments of the video, and I was mainly referring to the picture posted, not so much on the vid.
And I've not seen Disney 365, so I do not have full knowledge on this. (nor am I interested.)

How fun! Merida looks great. Insidethemagic got some great pictures of the entire coronation. Also, jeez - relax already about Debby Ryan being in there. It's just for a single picture, there are plenty others without her. Talk about overreaction.

This is the Disney fandom, SWillie. Overreaction to the littlest detail is not just part of the norm, it is the way of the fan of Disney. :p

And Renata, that's exactly how I envisioned it. At the end of the story, Merida learned to accept her royal duties as princess of Dunbroch, while Elinor learned that she must give Merida enough freedom to lead her life as she sees fit. The two of them became better people at the end, so I like to see it that in order to please her mother and to perform her duties as the only royal representation of Dunbroch at Disney's royal court, she does her best to please. But note she is still herself a lot of the time.

I loved this crowning ceremony, especially when Elinor came out. That was PERFECT. Brave is really a story about the two of them, as how they learned to become better people by accepting each other as they are, and seeing their virtues come out in the end. So having her be the one to crown Merida as a Disney Princess was super touching and fantastically well done. Though, I couldn't help but feel sad for the other princesses whose mothers are non-existent in their stories (sans Aurora, Mulan, Tiana and Rapunzel).

Look, I apologize on the overreacting thing. Can't be helped that I grew up with classic Disney very much, and... seeing it change for the worse hurts! But who's fully complaining? I got other things to worry about, so it's the least of all the troubles.
