A Scheduled Forum-Wide Chat?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

Ok, the idea is to have a set date and time at which a forum chat would be officially scheduled in the UD chatroom, and then as many as could would come in to chat. Now, that's just the idea.

Here are the potential problems..

-Would it be too much going on at once to actually have a group conversation of any sort?
-Would it flood bandwith or anything else?
-Would it be too difficult to find a time when enough people could come on simultaneously?

I'm just throwing it out here, it may very well be a terrible idea that would never work. If that's the case, just let me know, and I'll shut up, lol.

i was wondering who this "awall" person was. i thought it was some person who would mess up your computer if you try to speak to it. anyway. i agree with awallaceunc when we have a specific time when the members can come in and talk. my best bet is some day on the weekend or something. who knows? it's sorta hard since everyone's schedule is different from one anothers. i still think it is a good idea though.

We used to have a scheduled chat on...Sundays I think. They were fun; good times...good times.

Maerj is correct; we used to have group chats with quite a bit of turnout. Trying to find a scheduled time to chat is tricky; what's good for some people isn't for others. Still, I think the ones we had on Sundays past worked well for a number of people.

If you'd like to take the initiative to schedule one, you have my good graces. :)

They do consume bandwidth, but unless they're really popular, we should still fall within our monthly limit.

Jolly good fun if people are there and talking!

Ok, Sunday evening sometime? Anyone want to suggest a time? I'll do my best to make it.

Well if we do it Sunday evening in the US, then many of our members in the Eastern hemisphere may be sleeping. I think Noon (Eastern) is as good a time as any to start showing up. No one's expected to be there all day, but people can try and pop in throughout the day.

Sounds good. :) I'm usually mindful of time zone differences, but they slip my mind some times.

Hey Aaron, you just missed a random chat tonight. I logged in around...10:30 I guess, and Luke, Disney Guru, and pinkrenata were there! For about an hour, I was there, and Dacp and Yuki joined later on, but both DG and I logged off a little while ago.
