DisneyGirl wrote:Let me see if I understand this properly: You didn't want to be called a rasist so you mentioned that you have Asian friends? LOL! That's the STUPIDEST thing I've EVER heard! That's even more offensive than your first statements. The fact that you feel the need to point it out is really quite *ahem*
First of all, I don't even know how I was called a racist in the first place, I didn't say anything offensive to any particular race. Second, apparently things you don't understand you regard as stupid. Last time I checked, if you are good friends with a group outside of your race, the last thing you'd be considered is a racist. I only had to point that out because you guys still had some bizarre reason to call me a racist.
DisneyGirl wrote:So your quote from the first post where you use the word they (well, that least the one that I was referring to) "They will take advantage of you with pirated software, dvds, video games, etc." So if you're using the word THEY to mean DVDs Pirates that's fine, but I'm not assuming anything since in the sentance before that you're talking about Asia and Chinatown. Hmm...That's not assumption, that's following the subject of the paragraph, I think we learn it in, what, second grade?
And when do we learn how to spell the word "sentence"? I didn't think this was a term paper I was writing, and I thought it would be useless to have a one sentence paragraph. I'm sorry you have trouble with that.
DisneyGirl wrote:*stands up and claps* It's so wonderful to know that you can read/watch the news, perhaps one headline here or there. A newspaper article or such and think that it's ONLY Asia that has the problem. That's like watching an feature on Female Anorexia and thinking it's only women that have the problem.
Now, like I said before, I wasn't going to adorn this topic with my presence, but I didn't realize it started by PrinceAli. Hopefully someone with power will freeze or lock up this thread.
*goes and reads the rest of the posts*
Agh! Political debates! *Runs and hides*
*Gives a round of applause to DisneyGirl* I was going to see how long it took you to realize that Luke split up the topics, but I'll give you the applause early. Anyway, the news is a wonderful thing, you should try to keep track of it daily like me. And where on Earth did I say that Asia was the only continent with a pirating problem?! I merely said that there is a major problem there. ASSumers...

LOL I even said there was a bootlegging problem in the U.S, but oh well. I can't seem to reason with you at all.
Wise choice, run and hide from my political debate, I'd crush you in it.
JimmyJackJunior wrote:1) Ali - I never called you a racist, I said you made a borderline racist comment. In my mind they are two seperate things. I dont know you nearly well enough to call you a racist. As well, as has been pointed out in other posts to this thread you are not the first person to label it as an Asian problem, when obviously it is a worldwide problem(See #2.)
Phew, I feel so much better being accused of a borderline racist comment.

It is not exclusively an Asian problem...see above...
JimmyJackJunior wrote:2) As I posted yesterday before Karlsen request I remove it the top three bootlegging countries in the world for CDs(mind you not DVDs but gives you an impression are
1) Brazil, 2) Russia, 3) Mexico.
Taiwan and China clock in at four and five but the music industry trade group reports that Asia is the only the third biggest producers of illegal bootlegs behind Latin America and Eastern Europe.
That all depends on what chart or list you are referring to. I did some research and South Korea has the highest percentage of internet users with high-speed connections, 60 to 70 percent. They also have the highest percentage of internet users who download films illegally at 58%. After S.K, France has 27%, U.S has 24%. High-speed connections allow users to download movies faster, and piracy can grow because of that.
3) No one including Escapay ever said Asians are a perfect race. Your oringinal post indicated that Asians were the primary problem when in this case Asians had nothing to do with the problem. Yes there are greedy Asians DVD Pirates who steal others products but there are also greedy Americans(the guy who was busted recently in the States for Song of the South and see point 1 above for problems in other parts of the world.
I know no one said that. But it seems if I say anything bad about Asia whether it be true or false, he will be offended. Again they are not the only ones with the problem, but have it one of the worst if not the worst. Of course there are greedy American business do-ers, might I mention Enron, Worldcom, Tyco, Halliburton? That wasn't the topic though.
JimmyJackJunior wrote:4) The truth has finally come out - Loomis is nothing but a wad of hamburger meat. I suspected as much.
mmmmmm.....hamburger meat.....
5) I am not sure why Uncle Remus and Ali are debating who is more morale the Republicans or the Democrats. They are both political parties who will always choose the more politically expediate solution over the morally correct one. Neither killing unborn children or bombing wedding parties repeatedly are very moral, so neither Bush or Kerry will win on those grounds.
We weren't debating over who is more morale, but I don't know why he started in on the politics. So I just replied. Again, I don't see how Kerry has any influence at all on whether abortion should be legal or not, since it is a state's right. So there shouldn't be a ground on that, but Bush obviously had influence on the bombing in Iraq, so there is a ground for that.
JimmyJackJunior wrote:6) While Bowling for Columbine was roasted for factual errors, Farenheit 9/11 has not been. In fact Moore's experience with Columbine led him to hire independent editors and fact checkers to go through the documentary for such errors. To my knowledge not a single one has been found in his current movie.
Yep.
JimmyJackJunior wrote:7) Disney Girl - you should not run from political debates. It is what makes living in the free world(or as free as it is these days) great. I am glad we can live in a place where we can slam Bush and Kerry for their policies and let our own beliefs be known. More than 50% of the world does not live in such societies.
I think that is an American myth that only half of the world can do that. I think most of the world is able to slam their respective leaders. More and more countries are breaking out of the chains of strict dictatorship and becoming fre-er and progessing much faster. (except U.S and others)
UncleRemus wrote:some people hate Bush. some people hate Kerry. well i guess i willl vote for the Whig party then.
You may want to reconsider voting Whig Uncle Remus, since you are a catholic and religious beliefs have a huge influence on who you vote for.

The Whig presidents and their religions include:
William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor- Episcopalian
Millard Fillmore- Unitarian
