The longer the U.S. takes, the more embarrassing it is.

To be fair, Uruguay reads like 'you're a gay'.

Re: Episode 4: A New Hope for Gay UD Threads?
Well, I don't normally share my "real life" on here, nor do I make big announcements about myself on UD very often, but I feel the need to get a few things off my chest in a relative topic.
I've finally decided to come out the closet. As an open-minded individual, I've always voiced support for LGBT causes, but until recently, the irony is that I've never really been able to accept my own feelings. Essentially, a lot of things have been happening in my life. In particular, I got quite ill recently (though fear not, it wasn't life-threatening, and I am easily on the mend). Going through these experiences have reminded me just how precious my own happiness is. Through self-reflection, I decided that now was a better time than never for me to finally be open with myself and others, and to live my youth while I still can. Moreover, I've fully realised that happiness and love does come in any shape or form and should for me, too.
I've told some good friends, and I also told my parents. Though I have yet to tell every single person I know (ironic as it may sound, I want as much as possible to not broadcast it across the net among real life friends, acquaintances and family), everybody so far has been more than great. No arguments, no anxieties, no drama. If anything, there was just a little surprise as, aside from reflecting in hindsight that I don't talk too much about going after girls, their gaydars hadn't ever really picked me up.
Nerve racking as it may be, I never realised how much of an amazing feeling coming out actually is. It's like having the Berlin Wall knocked down, or opening a door from a black-and-white Kansas into a Technicolor Oz. Even by opening up to just a few people so far, I no longer feel that I have to hide truths away from people who honestly wouldn't mind in the first place. I feel more in control of my life, and moreover, I feel special and easier to be myself. In fact, before I went to bed last night, I actually shed a few tears of joy. And believe me, I haven't cried happy tears for a good few years at least.
Well, anyway, that's me done talking for now. Only one last thing to say before I pop off: wardrobes are waaay better than closets.

Yes, congratulations, Wonderlicious.
I personally think that telling your family officially means your "out," even with all the other little stuff; it's all a downward climb from there, really.

Well done Wonderlicious. I'm sure the worst - the moment you come out for the first time to anyone - is over, and it's good to hear that people have responded positively. The world is continuing to change for the better. Personally, I "came out" to people one at a time, rather than everyone at once; I think the gradual, step-by-step manner of process eases the stress and anxiety.

Jackie Chan came out.
I did always have a question mark when it came to him, but I can't say I thought about it much. Congratulations though, I guess.
