In the beginning, Disney would have to 'push' the BD sales by offering more exclusive content.

Now, with the increase in BD sales, the staging of the DVD-only release, and drop in production costs of having one BD master with different languages, they can save a lot of time and money by cutting out content that only a minority of the consumers admittedly use.

It doesn't really drive sales, but is just a nice-to-have.

You still get the feature film in high-definition -- which is reason enough to justify the purchase -- even if you have to buy MULAN 2.

But IS that enough to justify the purchase? After all, if all I'm after is an HD copy of the film, I can buy it (usually cheaper) on iTunes or Amazon, and have a copy that I can watch anywhere I please. No, I think anyone that buys a blu-ray is looking for more than simply the movie - they're looking for a high quality, high value product. And recently, we aren't getting it.

The reason I buy Blu-ray is for the high-definition content of the movie itself. The bonus features are nice, but not having them will not prevent me from getting the Blu-ray if the movie is excellent.

THE ROCKETEER is a good case in point. Excellent movie which desperately needed an HD release.

Despite the fact that it has next to zero bonus features, the DVD is so unwatchable that I don't feel that I am losing anything in the least in upgrading to Blu. If it had special features, all the better. But in truth, I would watch the features maybe once for every 20 viewings of the feature.

But that's exactly what I'm saying. If you literally don't care for anything beyond the HD transfer of the movie, then you can get the same product, usually cheaper and in a format you can watch anywhere you want, on iTunes or Amazon. By buying the film on blu-ray, you are taking into consideration the other aspects that come with the film itself. Whether that be the packaging, the discs, or the extra features included, you are still making a purchase of more than the film itself, and so it's only fair to expect a high quality product. But they haven't been providing that recently.

My #1 reason to buy a movie on Blu-ray is the film itself in HD. I care more about the transfer than the bonus features (which I do watch when included - once). I like having digital copies as a bonus when included with the Blu-ray, but right now I wouldn't choose the digital copy over a physical copy.

Mulan is $19.99 in store at Target (bundled with the sequel), $19.99 on iTunes, and $14.99 in HD on Amazon. The price difference is negligible to me, I always buy my Disney's when they are on sale (typically the first week they are out).

I want a full HD version of the movie, not a watered-down HD. Furthermore there are many features (such as subtitles) which I believe are not available on downloads. Not to mention the fact that I can watch my movie without any Big Brother looking over my shoulder, and I don't need to depend on a third party organization such as Amazon or Apple, so BD wins every time.

Just checked my iTunes files of all my Disney movies - every one has subtitles included, as well as chapter markers, all labeled with titles and images.

 Still don't understand this point that so many seem to resort to. I have no idea who you think cares enough to know you're watching The Lion King. And even if they did, why do you feel the need to hide it?

All things considered, if I had a choice of notifying Disney every time I watch a movie, or not, I would prefer not to.

Not that I am a Russian spy or anything, but I also choose not to post pictures of myself nor my family members on Facebook either.

While subtitles may be included, I prefer to have foreign subtitles on my Disney films because I also use it as a language learning tool. With BD, I have total freedom to choose which language dubs and subtitles I would like.

But the primary reason still remains the 1080p HD quality on BD.
