Re: Disney to Remake Pete's Dragon
It's an amazing touching movie, why must they muck it up with some low rate remake. Can't they come up with something new, originality there's a new thought

By the way, you know when they say "Don't fix what isn't broken."?
Yeah. That definitely applies here.

Re: Disney to Remake Pete's Dragon
I'm not surprised at all. Of course, Disney would want to remake an old film of theirs about a boy and his dragon with the How to Train Your Dragon franchise being extremely popular! Instead of having a pot belly and tiny wings, Elliott will be emaciated and have wings the size of Rhode Island.

I hope that image is a joke, if not I dread to see what the rest of the film is going to look like.PatrickvD wrote:The first image has leaked!!!

Re: Disney to Remake Pete's Dragon
The folks at Disney need to leave the classics alone. If they want to do a remake, take a movie like "The Black Hole" and remake it!!! That film is just crying out for a remake.
Messing around with "Pete's Dragon" is like messing around with "The Wizard of Oz", another film that should not be remade by anyone.

The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!

Re: Disney to Remake Pete's Dragon
I think The Black Hole could use a remake. That's probably my pick for the most boring science-fiction film I've ever seen. Really, it was simply made as a way for Disney to cash-in on the success of Star Wars, but with a talented director behind the wheel of a modern remake, it could be pretty fantastic.
As for The Wizard of Oz, while a remake of the '39 film wouldn't be the brightest idea, a new adaptation of the book would really well. Believe it or not, there are fans of L Frank Baum's book who hate the MGM musical for understandable reasons and they deserve a more faithful, non-musical version with modern special effects. If I was able to finally see an adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that pleased me greatly, so should the Oz fans who don't care for the Judy Garland film.

Re: Disney to Remake Pete's Dragon
I have only seen bits and pieces of The Black Hole, it's not one of the better late 70's Disney films, but it's not completely bad either. Plus it has Norman Bates, Anthony Perkins in it.estefan wrote:I think The Black Hole could use a remake. That's probably my pick for the most boring science-fiction film I've ever seen. A non-musical Oz could be good, but I think the story of "The Wizard of Oz" has been done to enough, why not move onto the the other 13 novels L. Frank Baum wrote.

I was kidding, hence the smiley. But it is an officially licensed Disney product.SwordInTheStone777 wrote:Close, but no cigar. This Disney here were talking; they wouldn't have Elliot look like that.

And please, please spell Elliott with two t's.

Exactly! More about the line here.Sky Syndrome wrote: I forgot about that fantastic statue line! There's also a Maleificent one and I think a Mushu one.

I really wish they made a Jake Long figure. I'd still kill for that Maleficent one, though.

I sanction this only if Mickey Rooney reprises his role.
