Disney Animation post-Frozen

Post by sdswanso3092 »

Anybody know more details on Disney Animations film slate after this November's Frozen? I am surprised we don't have more details at this point. Dreamworks Animation typically announces their film schedule three or four years in advance. And even Pixar has been doing this.

I recently read something about the 54th feature being a project with Marvel Studios, but I don't think Disney has officially announced anything. I personally hope they stick more with The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Frozen type films. I had heard about a King of the Elves feature, but have since heard that he may have been cancelled or delayed.

Next year should be the slot for Don Hall's Big Hero 6, which is an adaptation of a Marvel property. Next up should be Clements and Musker's film which will be CG with elements of traditional animation.

King of the Elves has been shelved again.

I read that a rumor for the Clements/Musker project is an adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin currently being called The Name Game.

If this is the case, Disney Animation seems to have officially gone to a fairy-tale movie with every other release and something newer on the other years. I kind of like that system as both Wreck-It Ralph and Winnie the Pooh were tremendous and the rejuvenation of the older style fairy tales has been great.

Still not sure how I feel about Big Hero 6..

I have a feeling they named that Rumpelskiltin adaption "The Name Game" to continue the trend of naming fairy tale based stories with almost parodic names.I think it was also to troll their fans. rotfl

The existence of The Name Game was a false rumour. Theres been a bit of talk about it lately because a site didn't do its research properly and reported it as being in development.

I wouldn't worry about Big Hero 6 just yet. Of course, there isn't a reason to be excited about it either given that we know nothing about it.

That's not certain yet. There are two other candidates that we know nothing about.
There's Big Hero Six and Frozen going into production, and then three projects after that. One of them Ron and John's feature, and two more. Nobody knows what order they'll be in, John Lasseter hasn't decided.

Extremely doubtful. Disney couldn't get the rights to it. Also believe that it was supposed to be directed by Clements and Musker who have since moved on to their current project.

From https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=6138127:
PROJECTS greenlit include:

FROZEN
BIG HERO 6
ZOOTOPIA
2 others not yet announced
So, we can assume these 2 are: Giants/Moana, Giants/Wreck-It Ralph 2, or Moana/Wreck-It Ralph 2

Those will be Giants and Moana, although they have been announced. I don't think a Wreck-it Ralph 2 is going to happen.

What? Really? Either I only heard rumors or blocked it out. I love Wreck-it Ralph, but I don't want Disney to become the next Dreamworks (or post-2009 Pixar for that matter) in terms of sequels. -.-

I'll just respectfully say "call me when something 2D related is going to happen again" and leave it at that.

C'mon 2Disney4Ever, you whiny rants are getting to be old hat. And no amount of PM threats will get me off your back.

You have been asked by more than half of the regulars here to not comment on anything that isn't 2D or 2D related because you don't have anything constructive or creative to say.

You can blame your Autism all you want but most of us just consider you to be a nuisance, and think that you should just go away.

Like Thumper's mom would say, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all!"

I said respectfully, didn't I? And this wasn't even a rant. Just a simple "I'll wait until I hear something good about 2D animation" reply. That was the only thing I was going to say here.

I didnt think he said anything wrong or insulting this time. 2d fans shouldnt be forced to censor their feelings just b/c this board is mostly pro 3d. I like both but if it wasnt for this board I would have thought I was the only one who still liked 2d.

Please refrain from speaking for others. It makes you seem arrogant.
I'll admit to being annoyed by a couple of 2Disney's posts, but really, who hasn't annoyed anyone on this board? Besides, Junkie, didn't you say you put 2Disney on your ignore list? I find it strange how you're still commenting on his posts, if you've already chosen to ignore them.
I'm sure you didn't mean it that way, but your post comes across as agressive and judging. Odd how you chose to end it with "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all!".

I find it interesting WIR appears to be getting the first sequel out of the 3D films. It was the lowest grossing of this decade and doesn't lend itself to a sequels (unless they find a way for Vanelope to leave her game) any more than Tangled/Frozen.

It is my favourite though and the best in my opinion. I hope Rich Moore/Jen Lee will be back.
