Live-Action SURVIVOR Round 1.4

Post by AwallaceUNC »

Only 4 movies were voted against in the last round, so all 4 left...
Round 1.1 - Victory Through Air Power, In Search Of The Castaways, The One & Only Genuine Original Family Band, Popeye
Round 1.2 - Return To Oz, Herbie Goes Bananas, Never Cry Wolf, The Cat From Outerspace
Round 1.3 - Tron, Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, Benji The Hunted, Blackbeard's Ghost

Even with the auditions, there are 108 remaining live-action films that survived the auditions. Therefore, we'll be dividing the game into three rounds, each of which will be further divided into sub-rounds. Round 1 will concern movies made prior to 1990 (I had to make the slight change from the site's grouping, which breaks at 1980, to even out the two groupings). Round 2 will concern movies made from 1990 to the present day. The winners of the first two rounds will go head-to-head in Round 3. Got it? Good. :)

Live-action films have already been defined for us by Luke's pages for them here on the site. Films made prior to 1980, all of which are covered in Round 1, can be found here (complete list). The complete list of films made between 1980 and 1990, also covered in Round 1, can be found at the bottom of this list.

It works just like the Survivor TV show. Basically, come on here once every 2 days and vote for the live-action Disney film that you want to vote off, i.e., the one that you like the least. Everyone is welcome!!

At the end of the round, I'll come on here and announce which films got voted off, and a new thread will start for the next round. This gets to be a lot of fun, especially when it gets down to the wire (as you hopefully know from the last two games).

You can talk about your reasons for your vote, but I ask that you put the full title of what you're voting for in bold letters so that it's easy for me to count them all in a hurry.

There are more titles in Round 1 of this game than there were in all of the Animated Classics Survivor. Therefore, for Round 1, we'll follow this plan: Four movies will be cast off in each of the first 5 sub-rounds (the four with the most votes to leave). After that, two films will leave in each sub-round, until we reach the top 10. In all, that should make for 52 sub-rounds in round 1. Make sense? The winner of Round 1 will square off against the winner of Round 2 for the ultimate winner, which will join the reigning champs, The Lion King and Toy Story 2.

So, Survivors ready?? Come on in and vote off ONLY ONE of these 40 movies:

The Reluctant Dragon
Song of the South
So Dear To My Heart
Treasure Island
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier
Davy Crockett and the River Pirates
Old Yeller
The Shaggy Dog
Darby O'Gill and the Little People
Pollyanna
The Sign of Zorro
Swiss Family Robinson
The Absent-Minded Professor
The Parent Trap (1961)

That Darn Cat! (1965)

The Shaggy D.A.
Freaky Friday

Voting ends at midnight (EASTERN TIME) on Thursday, July 22nd.

I'm staring at my computer screen with a blank expression, the result of a mixture of emotions- none of which are positive- brought on by TWO (2) votes for Pete's Dragon. I'd pick it to win, but I realize that's unrealistic, but it at least deserves its spot near the top. There are FAR worse films than that.

The only way to save it is to have 4 other movies with 3 votes each, or even 4 other movies with 2 votes each would at least put it into a tie-breaker. That means people need to vote! If one of the folks who voted for Son Of Flubber, Dachsund, or Honey would switch to one of these three, then that would be achieved. I'll vote for anything to save Pete's Dragon, so for now that means voting for The Ugly Dachsund.

   :flabbergasted: (if only there was such an emoticon)

Sorry guys, didn't get home 'till late tonight. The Gnome Mobile and The Reluctant Dragon are gone! But we still need to eliminate two more movies in Round 1.4, and we have a 3-way tie. As JJJ pointed out, those movies are:

Return From Witch Mountain
Pete's Dragon
Return From Witch Mountain

Please vote off only one of these three movies. The two with the most votes will leave.

JJJ has voted against The Ugly Dachsund and LeiaP22 has also voted against The Ugly Dachsund.

Voting for the tie-breaker ends tomorrow (Friday, July 23rd) at midnight (eastern time).
