Pope Benedict XVI Resigns. First time in 700 years

Post by disneyboy20022 »

Citing advanced years and infirmity, but showing characteristic tough-mindedness and unpredictability, Pope Benedict XVI shocked Roman Catholics on Monday by saying that he would resign on Feb. 28, becoming the first pope to do so in six centuries.

A homophobic, unapologetic, bigoted cult leader resigns.

Good riddance.

Thousands of children have been abused by his institution and this guy.... 'is sorry'. I believe the good Lord's intentions had nothing to do with these clowns in their golden city swimming in their millions of dollars. If there's justice in the universe, these guys will burn.

Too bad another idiot will take his place and most likely continue to spew hateful and offensive shit all around.

Dont hate the player; hate the game.

also, there has been much discussion about whether or not the catholic church will actually elect a more progressive pope than the likes of what the catholic church and GOP have had so far.

I admire the guy for knowing when to leave. I think he's a good man. It's a tough job for any man, let alone one who's 85.

I know this is somewhat belated, but it's fairly funny:

We have a new Pope

The New Pope: Bergoglio of Argentina aka Pope Francis

What makes me in awe is the historical factor behind all of this.

I agree. The first time a Pope has resigned in hundreds of years, and the first non-European pope in 1200+ years. But they should have a Latino pope, shouldn’t they? Most Roman Catholics are Hispanic, I believe. (Most Americans will be Hispanic, too, in so many years. How much you want to bet 90% of our government officials will be white though. :P )

More correctly, Hispanics/Latinos can be of any race.

There are only three types of races in human world. Mongoloids(china, japan, etc), Caucasoid(European whites, middle east, Indian), and Negroid(blacks and aboriginals).

I think it was a wise thing on his part, he didn't think he could give it the full service it required due to his advanced years increasing infirmities. So he decided to move on and spend his last years quietly out of the spotlight.
