Dude, I'm upset that "Brave" won too, but take a chill pill. In the long run, it's quality that resonates with people/critics/anyone. And "Wreck-It Ralph" will be regarded as the better film. Who remembers "How Green Was My Valley," no one because "Citzen Kane" was the better film. "Fantasia" didn't fair to well when it came out and "Toy Story" didn't win any Oscars either, but both are remembered as truely great films. "Toy Story" is remembered more fondly than "Pocahontas." "The Iron Giant" is gaining a huge follow and many people didn't even see it on its initial release. So long story short, I'm bummed that "Brave" won, but at the end of the day WiR and "Paranorman" and even RotG are going to be regarded as better movies.

No need to fight about this. Hollywood gives itself awards, good for them. Like what you like, what they say really doesn't matter, ultimately. It's up to you which films you like...like all of them if you wish. The love of film in general is more important than an Awards show. Not to say that the films that won are bad or anything but it's just entertainment and like anything else, is subjective.

My response (in the form of the following video) is more directed at the obvious mistake that newspaper made by saying Wreck-It Ralph was a Pixar movie.

DisneyJedi, seriously, calm down. Do something that soothes your nerves. I don't know ... make yourself a chocolate milkshake, then sit in front of the TV and watch Tangled.

Maybe you could get some soft toys and cuddle up with them during the film.
Forum member Loomis once advised me to do just that and to have a tea party with the stuffed animals.

In all honesty, it's actually true. She spent almost more than half of the movie looking at her phone for new texts because my dad and brother can't work a catering event without us without asking for advice/help in the form of texts. The theaters say "PHONE USE/TEXTING ISN'T ALLOWED DURING THE MOVIE" for a reason. It's distracting!

Because I'm sick of Pixar always taking home the gold every time they get nominated. And personally, I only think their movie won this year because they cheated!

So it's actually kinda rare when a Disney animated film wins an Oscar. 4 during Walt's era & 6 during the Renaissance era. It's been 13 years since a Disney animated film won an Oscar, but thats nothing compared to the 48 year drought from Dumbo to The Little Mermaid. Can Frozen be the 1st in the CGI era? Doubtful, but lets wait & see.

But it's been decades since Disney won in the Animated Short caregory too. Before Paperman won last sunday, Disney's previous win was "It's Tough to be a Bird" in 1969, 43 years ago! Seeing "Runaway Brain" & "The Little Match Girl" lose over the last 2 dacades was disappointing. The were gonna have to come up with something new if they were gonna win an oscar. Thats what Paperman did.

While I agree The Little Matchgirl deserved to win, as much as I love Runaway Brain, I love A Close Shave even more. Since their win in '69, I think Disney deserved to win for Mickey's Christmas Carol, Little Matchgirl and Paperman. Though I can't comment on Lorenzo as Disney refuses to release it.

Did you enjoy Destino that much? It's definitely interesting, but I thought it was pretty boring as far as entertainment value. Never been a Dali fan, though.

Yes, I did. I think it's a masterpiece. One of Disney's best shorts to date.

No, I don't find it boring at all. It's Paperman which I find a bit boring and trite.

Destino's visuals are stunning; it successfully fuses CG and hand-drawn animation, and the music is hauntingly beautiful. It's a like a surrealist painting coming to life. There's no denying that it's an incredible achievement in animation that is culturally, historically and artistically significant.

You're right, it's definitely significant. Personally though, I think the CG is kind of cheap looking, I'm not a fan of the music at all, and I hate hate hate hate the blending keyframes technique they used instead of inbetweening the animation. Just not appealing to me. But again, I really don't like Dali's work, either. I can appreciate it, but just don't find it appealing at all.
