Disney didn't send Al Michaels over to Universal just to let one of Walt's first original creations live in creative purgatory after one video game's disappointing sales. Oswald will be back in one way or another before long, especially in merchandising, if his recent success at the parks and stores are any indication.

I'm not sure if he'll receive his own show, though. This generation of kids don't seem to be interested in that kind of show, at least not in the traditional Disney way. But anything is possible.

Well, I don't think we can really say that since I can't think of a show done in the last number of years done in "the traditional Disney way." Mickey Mouse Works might have been the last one (or Mouse of House, I guess. They're practically the same show, except HoM has bridging material).

Craig McCracken's new show at Disney looks like a call-back to the classic, rubbery "Steamboat Willie" style. I don't know if its success (and considering McCracken's record, I think it will be a hit) would influence the creation of a new Mickey or Oswald show, but it seems pretty close to the old style.

I was actually thinking the other day, I'm surprised Disney never made an "Alice Comedies" show for the current generation. Even as a preschool series, it would make some strange sense.

Are you talking about Wander Over Yonder? If so, yes I'm very excited to see that. I bet that show and Gravity Falls will be the key to get Disney Channel to stop all those pathetic tween sitcoms and bring back Mickey and friends a new show. Dream on, I know.

I don't see why there can't be room for both. It's kind of surprising to see Disney only in the past year or two attempt to add more animated series into their main channel's schedule, considering how successful Phineas & Ferb has been for a while.

Didn't Gravity falls only just barely get picked up? I heard it wasn't doing too well. Which is a shame because its the first one I've considered worth watching since Kim Possible I think. Not that I watched KP, but I at least got the appeal.

Nonsense. They just haven't reveal any episodes lately. of course, there will be a new episode start February 15th.

I'm sure Disney will use Oswald in other ways--likely for merchandise, although probably nothing big. I doubt they'd make a TV show or video game based around him though. Maybe a TV film (similar to the Winnie the Pooh and Tinker Bell spin-offs)?

Really? Because, according to a DVD review of the Oswald DVD, the main reason that Disney acquired Oswald was not a matter of good business sense, but rather an issue of morale and principle. So I have no idea.
