I am new to this forum and I have a quick question that I am sure you Disney buffs will be able to answer quickly.
I remember seeing a move a few years back that I am pretty sure was animated (I was little ) and it was about a mouse (?) that had been separated from his mom/ family (?) ......and this is the only part I semi remember there is a part in the movie where they are on opposite places in the world and they both look up at the moon/sky and sing a song.....
Does this ring a bell to anyone?? It might not even be a Disney movie!!....not sure.....
An American Tail. It's not a Disney movie. It's a Don Bluth/Universal release. It's available on DVD as a Pan & Scan transfer (the movie was shot in widescreen).
A long time ago, Don Bluth was one of the main animators for the Fox and the Hound (he was not mentioned in the credits). One of the scenes Don had to animate was the scene where poor old Chief was hit by the train and knocked out. Originally Chief was supposed to die in the original verison of the story for the movie, but it was decided to still have Chief alive in the movie. Don, who had already finished animating that scene, said that instead of having to redo the whole scene, just use the animation that he already did. So now in the movie, you can still see that whole scene that was animated by Don Bluth.
Also one of the reasons Don Bluth left Disney was because once Bluth asked Disney if he could make The Secret of NIMH into an animated film distributed by Disney. But Disney didnt like the story and told him that they had plans on making The Black Cauldron into an animated film. So Don Bluth left Disney and started a group of his own that were the ones that made films like The Secret of NIMH, The Land Before Time, An American Tail, and All Dogs Go To Heaven.
Aaron, Don Bluth has been more successful than you will ever be. So don't bash him. He made more movies than Disney since his company's existance. And at least he hasn't given up on 2-D like your buddy Eisner

well lets say that Don Bluth wasnt the one who made the Land Before Time sequels. i mean what on earth were those idiots thinking when they made those sequels. besides Don Bluth wasnt always sucessful. look at some of the other films he made:

I liked quite a few of these when I was little, but they were always B movies for me, they didn't really stand out amongst the classic Disney films. Most of them will likely be forgotten as time goes on (some more or less already have), but a few seem to have stood the test of time so far, Land Before Time and an American Tale (the best of the aforementioned) being great examples. Anastacia, Thumbelina, Rockadoodle- I'll be curious to see how these hold up over the next decade or two. I see Anastacia having the most potential.

The Swan Princess( Columbia Pictures release) was directed by Richard Rich, who was the director of such films as The Black Cauldron, The Fox and the Hound, and The King and I (1999 animated version). Fern Gully: the Last Rainforest (Fox Release) was directed by Bill Goryer, who didnt directed many movies but he was the animation supervisor for Scooby Doo (2002 movie) and Cats and Dogs, and he was the CG animation director for Rugrats in Paris and the Flinstones in Viva Rock Vegas.
