News:
Scamander reported that the The Jungle Book will be released this fall in Europe as a Diamond edition. Where does that leave The Little Mermaid, I don't know. It will either be released as a non-Diamond or pushed to spring 2014 in Europe. Aladdin will be released in Europe & Middle East as a non-Diamond (Feb-April) and as a Diamond in Australia (March). The Aladdin sequels will be released only on DVD in Europe but on Blu-ray in Australia.
What a mess...

Man that's a bit of a bummer, I decided when I started buying BluRays I would only upgrade the sequels that I really like as have most of them already on DVD (so far I've only bought The Lion King sequels, I may pick up Tramp's and Dalmatian's sequels on Blu because they're two of the few I never got around to getting and it's been so long since I've seen them I can't remember how good/bad they were) and I would have probably bought both Return of Jafar and King of Thieves though their animation is pretty appalling at times I do enjoy the narratives. Oh well seeing as I own both sequels on DVD I shan't need to re-purchase them if they're not coming to BluRay!Lnds500 wrote:Source?Sotiris wrote:The Aladdin sequels will be released only on DVD in Europe but on Blu-ray in Australia.
Apparently Aladdin is going to be released in the UK on BluRay very soon, someone over at the BluRay forums yesterday posted they'd been in the Disney Store and they were using Aladdin themed carrier bags and a staff member said it was because it was being re-released very soon. Also on the UK Disney Store site there appears to be a big push on Aladdin merchandise if you go to the home page at the bottom there's a link to their Aladdin merchandise (and it's right next to a link for their new range of Monsters Inc range), there's even an exclusive Jasmine charm bracelet being released which will only be available for a Limited Time. Looking forward to owning this film as it is a childhood favourite, I only hope Disney UK do it justice!
Speaking of sequels has there been any word when the Cinderella II/III BluRay will be released in the UK independent of the trilogy set? There was a trailer on the DE of Cinderella which would suggest it is going to be released separately at some point but I have literally seen nothing on it anywhere. A Twist in Time is a major guilty pleasure of mine and I would love to own it on BluRay!
I love The Little Mermaid and Ariel

Lady & The Tramp II is going out of print in April but I'm sure you already knew that.miklc wrote:Man that's a bit of a bummer, I decided when I started buying BluRays I would only upgrade the sequels that I really like as have most of them already on DVD (so far I've only bought The Lion King sequels, I may pick up Tramp's and Dalmatian's sequels on Blu because they're two of the few I never got around to getting and it's been so long since I've seen them I can't remember how good/bad they were)Lnds500 wrote: Source?

I suspected as much but I was 100 percent sure because I couldn't find any information on what was going into the Vault this April anywhere, so thanks for confirming that for me! I was actually doing price comparisons for it last night and was going to order it from the cheapest place but decided to wait a bit, now I know it's going in the Vault for sure I'll go put my order indisneyboy20022 wrote:Lady & The Tramp II is going out of print in April but I'm sure you already knew that.miklc wrote: Man that's a bit of a bummer, I decided when I started buying BluRays I would only upgrade the sequels that I really like as have most of them already on DVD (so far I've only bought The Lion King sequels, I may pick up Tramp's and Dalmatian's sequels on Blu because they're two of the few I never got around to getting and it's been so long since I've seen them I can't remember how good/bad they were)
101 Dalmatians and it's sequel haven't long been released hear in the UK so I'm expecting them to be around a while, hoping to pick them up when Disney does their next BOGOF offer which should be around March/April time, has it even been released in the US the different scheduling is so confusing!
Just to confirm if my suspicions were correct is it just these returning to the Vault in April:
The Liong King (Plus sequels)
The Lady and the Tramp (plus sequel)

Woah that site has The Little Mermaid (along with it's sequels, being sold separately from one another unlike the Cindy sequels) stated for a September release, that's crazy and I hope they've got it wrong. If they're wanting to really make it's theatrical run a success they need to release the BluRay AFTER not BEFORE
That is if Arielle, die Meerjungfrau - Diamond Edition [Blu-ray] translates to The Little Mermaid....
EDIT: The more I look at that site the more confused I get! The Aristocats recently got released her on BluRay in a "Special Edition" and according to this sit a new DVD "Special Edition" is coming in March...how peculiar!
What's Das Dschungelbuch (Diamond Edition) [Blu-ray] | Herbst 2013?? The Jungle Book?????
EDIT (AGAIN): I don't see any mention for Secret of the Wings, I hope it's UK release isn't too far off (I also hope it includes the half an hour TV special like the US one did) and I thought Frankenweenie was being released in February not May, I suppose some of these releases might not apply specifically to the UK perhaps just mainland Europe??

Not necessarily. That was the old schedule posted on January 1st. Things may have changed since then. For example, Aladdin was referred to as a Diamond in previous schedules but then it was referred to as a regular release in the most recent ones. We'll know for sure with the next schedule update.Lnds500 wrote:So Europe IS getting 2 Diamonds..
Not really. Some European countries do this often. This release is simply a reissue of the DVD with the CD included.miklc wrote:The Aristocats recently got released on Blu-ray in a "Special Edition" and according to this sit a new DVD "Special Edition" is coming in March...how peculiar!
Check again, it's there. It's the last title under March 2013. It's called "Das Geheimnis der Feenflügel".miklc wrote:I don't see any mention for Secret of the Wings

Disney Germany started promoting The Jungle Book: Diamond Edition. No signs of The Little Mermaid yet. I think it must have been pushed back in Europe so they could accommodate the theatrical 3D re-release.

Peter Pan will be released here in Brazil on March 12, as a DIAMOND EDITION. Also, Return to Neverland will be released on the same day. Pictures from Animations Forum:

Actually, the movie isn't even confirmed to come back to theaters in Germany.Sotiris wrote:Disney Germany started promoting The Jungle Book: Diamond Edition. No signs of The Little Mermaid yet. I think it must have been pushed back in Europe so they could accommodate the theatrical 3D re-release.

All once part of the 'diamond' collection or whatever once was.
