Some sweet Star Wars 3 pics
Some sweet Star Wars 3 pics
Hey guys!
I just found these pics thanks to HTF's Ernest Rister (yes, the very same). About 20-30 Episode 3 pics from Star Wars Insider. They all look very cool; including some wookies, starships, finished CGI Yoda, caracters, and behind-the-scenes. All in all, it makes me even more anticipated to see this film!

Two things taint this post:
1) Ernest Rister provided the pics.
2) George Lucas is making the film.
I am just not even vaguely excited about the next Star Wars film anymore (and I was a big fan).
It looks like more pointless CGI work, held together by a really boring plot that will culiminate in one cool scene (the new Star Wars movies seem to have one "cool" scene each - Podracer; Yoda Fight respectively). This one will probably be the Obi-Wan v Anakin fight, and we all know how it ends anyways!
I suppose it is ok. If I really don't like it, Lucas will change it every few years anyways...
However, I have to admit to a bit of the old fanboy tingle when I saw some of those photos: the TIE fighter style ships; the Imperial Guards and the Wookies (god loves a Wookie!) especially.

I'm not very excited neither. It'll all be more CGI showcases (Lucas does the best 2hour demo reels
) unless it's very very dark and I don't think it will unless Amidala betrays Darth Vader with ObiWan or something..
And it's not gonna even be 35mm quality (Just like Clones wasn't)
Ahh the days when Lucas used VistaVision to preserve quality..
I may sound a little bit heretical to the Phantom/Clone fans but Star Wars stopped being excellent for me after Empire
thanks for the pics link tho

I agree. Jedi was simply a rehash of the first Star Wars, with muppets (many of which have now been replaced with CGI muppets).deathie mouse wrote: I may sound a little bit heretical to the Phantom/Clone fans but Star Wars stopped being excellent for me after Empire![]()
I THINK I remember the original trilogy as they were released... I may even have them on tape somewhere.... Maybe Mr Lucas wants to come around and alter these tapes. They are, after all, not his original vision!

one of those weird deathie rants
If you love Return of the Jedi and the prequels maybe you'd like to skip this rant
I guess people like Loomis and me will be forever waiting for Revenge of The Jedi (As the trailer promised) in which instead of marketable teddy bears, the slave labor planet of Endor was filled with 10 feet angry wookies (hey Chewbacca could be a short one for all you know
) the Emperor was really a force to be reconned with instead of a senile old fool (Darth Vader, the baddest baddie in the universe, kneeled before him?!?, wasn't that a shock, then he turns out to be a lightweight mannekin you can discard down a hatch and he can't even fly a little?) Obi Wan isn't so senile he forgot there was another skywalker around (unless he was a macho pig) unless he really didn't know, hey many thought Solo or Fett might be the other, Solo cus he had this amazing Jedi like ability to pilot and Fett cus it would been plain jack in the box surprise cool
, and of course the freezing process didn't damage Solo's brain as it seem it did..
And I haven't gotten as for what could happened in the end.
(At least I was hoping it didnt end with a guest appearance of Egghead from the Batman TV series and a Jedi boys club school portrait
)
I have the original versions in laserdisc TWICE so at least those can't be taped over
I've only watched Jedi once in the theaters, after that i've only watched sporadically parts of the battle for it's effects (with those 3-D one eye clear the other only slighly darker glasses that make everything that moves 3-D), and the only part to me that had real drama: when optimist Luke is telling daddy, "i know there's still some good in you daddy why don'y you hear me out", and next thing we hear is "daddy" turning on a light sabre behind him as if saying I could strike you down right now (but my emperor wants to see you boy.)
(Correction, I don't have the original Star Wars, the 70mm one I saw is titled STAR WARS and has the scroll synching with the music
)
rant off.

That is why they are putting the Wookiees in Episode 3, to make up for them not being in 6. BTW, Episode 3 is going to have substantially less CGI in it than Shrek, Shrek 2, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., etc.I guess people like Loomis and me will be forever waiting for Revenge of The Jedi (As the trailer promised) in which instead of marketable teddy bears, the slave labor planet of Endor was filled with 10 feet angry wookies
Also, it should not be a surprise that it is blending the imagery of the OT and the PT. It was known several years ago that Episode III would be like this but people see pictures now and think that somehow ol' George is finally wising up.

You're crazy for not likin' Jedi
.
I can understand some frustrations with "Can You Guess Who's The Phantom Menace?" and "Lack Of An Attack Of The Clones," though I did really enjoy them overall. I never really expected them to live up to the original three, so I was able to enjoy them. (It must be noted, though, that they don't live up to the first three.) I am excited for the next one, though, as I think it will probably be the best of the prequels. Too bad we won't be seeing the Clone War, but hey, that's what Cartoon Network is for, right?

I'm still not sure why Lucas even employs actors anymore.
You look at the two new films - he has a bunch of great actors who not only have to speak some TERRIBLE dialogue (and it really is bad), but they don't know where to look for the next CGI creature that will be discussing Proust with them.
Poor Ewan even has to sport a mullet!

Apparently, gabe from TFN's Forum's, the same guy who set up idontfear.com, has got a hold of a finished CGI moving screenshot of the new Jedi fighters.
Looks legit to me, and some have called it Obi-Wan's fighter from EP3. I like what I see.
